What is your take on this theory?

If there is a God, I don't think he could be just one sex. The bible only refers to God as he which is why most people assume that he's a guy.

I'm not saying that they were right or wrong. I was just putting out something I was raised to believe.

 

You can't tell if most of "those" words are the truth because most of them are metaphors. Metaphors are sometimes hard to understand. Like Noah's Ark, that's obviously not true, I mean you can't put all of the land-animals on a ship at once, I mean he used wood to build it...For the most part, the Bible is really a huge fable to live by. I believe most of it is true, just fully, I mean not like a lie, but like over-dramatic if you know what I mean. The Bible just consist of many stories, although I believe that many of them are the truth, there are also many that are just there as lessons.

 

@ 1. I think people think it's a guy because the bible says the man was the first on the earth, and the bible said that God created man in his own image.

@ 2.That's why I have these theory's because I was raised to think these things too, but think about all the other lies people have told. That's why I go own my own beliefs. No offense at all to you though.

 

This may sound stupid, but I always have thought of God as a shape-shifter.

 

It's not that stupid. Maybe that wording is a little stupid but the idea isn't stupid. If God does exist, then he could be able to change what form he took.

 

That's why I question the whole heaven and hell thing, maybe it is just a metaphor, for in life, you are accountable for your actions. Basically, it says if do not believe in god, you will go to hell. Maybe it just means, that if you don't believe in the good that God represents, and go against him, you will have consequences for your actions, such as prison and pain on earth.

 

So if you do believe in the good God represents, would you experience ecstasy and happiness on earth?

 

I think that God just made man first, then woman...not really much behind it to me. Remember I believe that God created life so don't bring up all this science sh*t please, I think God knew what he was doing, I mean if a being created everything, and how nature works together, and it's said he's all knowing, so he would probably know how to make a man and a woman have the "parts" to reproduce, even though I think I got kinda off-topic with that one.

No, not in my opinion. You have to sacrifice things in your life to be a Christian, money, your Sundays, your time, your rules (What you can do in life without the consequence of going to hell), your morals, and a lot of other things. So if you live your life doing good deeds, having faith in God and Jesus, then you get rewarded when you die. I mean, if you have a lot of faith in God, and you pray to him, normally just because you have so much faith in God to help you, you help yourself and others, so that eventually you will reach whatever goal you intended to do with God's help, at least that's what I do, I pray, and with me having so much faith in God, I do my best to be good, so that I hope he will answer my prayers. In other words, having more faith in God, gives you more motivation to impress him, thus you help yourself and live how Jesus intended for us to live.

 

It's things like that, that keep me guessing. Cause it's hard to tell. I was christian and all kind of bad unimaginable things happened to me, and now I question and for some reason I feel stronger and happier. I don't know. This is why other religions like Islam and buddism are more believable, cause it's not a code people try to decipher. If you are that religion, you believe 1 thing. I'm not saying I'll be into those religions, but I hate the fact that if God does exist, he couldn't just come out and say something, instead of leaving a book of riddles, does he really find this fun and amusing? Why do we have to figure it out? Why do we need good and evil? Why didn't God just create good and THAT'S IT? In a funny way of saying it, god's philosophy is just to cause drama.

 

Well I've met some atheists who live like that only without the belief in God.

I'm not sure what you mean by that, if you are trying to bring back the terrible segregation of men and woman not being equal, I doubt anything would have changed, from what I have concluded, the segregation between men and woman was because the men thought that they were better than woman because of their physical capabilities, even though woman give birth...

 

That's why I think that we're for some higher being's entertainment. Well, if it's a book of riddles then a Christian's goal would have to be to be able to decipher those riddles and then live according to them so thay can experience eternal bliss later on.

 

Or maybe the fact that God didn't write the Bible hasn't yet to get through your head (sorry if I sounded like a jerk by saying that). Believing in a religon is all about sacrifice, there's no way around it, all religons have morals and rules to them.

 

THe only problem I have with what you said is the prayer part. Why does everyone ask god for everything? I think that's sort of rude. I only would believe in prayer that thanks god for thing. because he has a divine plan, but what if you asked for wasn't his divine plan? You want him to change his divine plan? Just for you? Why should we ask for god to screw up his divine plan?

Well then why do you go to church all the time, and do all these things if it is because a book of metaphors told you to? What if you find out it was all a waste? Just like how you said being an atheist was a waste. no offense

 

Have you guys ever thought that God lets bad things happen because it teaches us a lesson? If God made everything right, we wouldn't have any responsibilities, would we? According to Christians, like me, we are all God's children, and I'm pretty sure that everyone can agree that our biological parents let us make our own mistakes, and fix them ourselves, because it makes us more responsible, that's why the Bible was written, to keep us the way God wanted us to be, responsible for our actions, knowing the price of deceiving him would be hell, and believing in him and Christ would bring about the gift of an eternal blissful life when we die.
