Well I don't know what you posted earlier, but from what I can gather, you believe there is no truth to Atheism.

Then then if that is so, have you ever talked to an athiest? And for that matter, have you ever STUDIED it? There is a lot of truth to it. If there wasn't, it wouldn't be a religion.

Well some portions of the belief are different, yes. But the ultimate goal and end belief is always the same: No belief in God. Thus, they feel they have no limitations.

Which is infact similar to Satanism, which is religion based on the person's feel of freedom and self responsibility. And always giving them the feeling of no limitations. In death....or not in death.

Aetheism is a belief as Darkwatch mentioned. My opinion is to let people live their lives as they see fit. I myself am a Roman Catholic, but I do my best not to force my beliefs on anyone else.

Just as there are Christians who try to force others into their religions, there are Aethiests who try to tell me that God doesn't exist. That frankly pisses me off, so if someone does try to tell me that, I argue.

the way u say that though (this is towards darkwatch) makes atheists sound like they beleive they can do what ever they want.

atheism in itself is an oximoron, its a belief yet it means u have no beliefs.

but lets not escelate this argument. I think were saying the same thing but misinturprating it on both sides.

I am an atheist, and have been one my entire life. I do not belive that there are a God or such thing as a devine being. There is no one who is controlling me or has decided how my life and destiny would be like.
Like stated above this; I belive in not to belive. And ofcause I would never try to convince others to share my belives, live and let live then evryone is happy.

I'm Athiest myself, and I think religion was created by the government to maintain order.

Except that that is ******ed because religion as an institution is older than government as an institution. If anything, it would have been the other way around.

actually government as in order of a society has always existed(just not always "order") but someone had to think up religion.

I guess it depends what you view as government, and what you think constitutes religion.

I am pretty much an atheist. I guess some people need religion, it makes them feel secure and happy. But nobody knows anything for sure, all this has been passed on over years by man. Science is the closest to truth, it is supported by facts. I have nothing against anyone of any religion though, because it is their personal choice to believe in whatever they want.

Have you ever took the time to decipher the word "atheist"?

It means "No belief in GOD." It doesn't mean they dont' have belief's. It means they dont' believe in any god's, whatsoever. Yet they do believe in the freedoms of their religion. Monotheism and polytheism are similar. Mono-one. Poly-many. All old systems of belief's used by many of the earliest civilizations. Athiesm was derived because some actually had no belief in Deites.

So you see, it's not actually an oxymoron...completely.

I do not like to label myself, but I guess I could be called an athiest... or an agnostic... or something inbetween. I do not understand how people, as you said, can mindlessly follow a 2000 year old book, which, by the way, is seriously flawed (sorry, this is all based on research I've done and I do NOT want to offend anyone!). I kind of build my own beliefs and ideologies through life; I learn right and wrong by day to day experiences, and also by a bit of common sense.

I think that anyone, religious or not, is fine by me as long as they accept others who think differently and do not try to change them (I have been countlessly asked to join someone's church...).

I have come across people who react quite oddly when they find out I have no religion. I'm not emo, or goth, or anything. I seem like a "normal" person. So, when people find out I have no religion, they are taken aback. They actually ask me if I worship the devil and how I can be so normal. One person asked me where I get my morals from...

Still, as I was reading what some people have posted here, both sides can get extreme. If they can learn to find a balance and not overdo things, then its alright. Now, when religious people try to use the bible to get their way and when athiests try to erase all religion, then there is a problem.

Also, I do not like when governments try to use religion to their advatage. There is much valid research done that proves that Christianity was made up (they kind of took Jesus's teachings and put in whatever suited them best) by a group of government officials many years after Jesus. So Kairi was not entirely wrong. Religion itself was not created by the government, but the government has tweeked it to suit them (you can choose to believe this or not, just do not flame me for stating my own beliefs.) (also, i know this is only about christianity, but many other religions have been used for these purposes, aswell.)

Anyways, I'm rambling. I like this topic, and for me, as long as everyone accepts and respects all others then who cares what you believe in. Live and let live... but, please, retain an opened mind and always question what is served to you on a platter.

Same here. Of course, it does get pretty annoying when they talk about Christians like they're little Gremlins as if I'm not even there. >.>

Then again, it is annoying when I run into some stupid-***, closed minded, Super-Churchy who tries to force their religions on someone else. If anything, that's what ruin our reputations more than anything. I understand that people won't just take up a religion cause you said so! I understand why people aren't Christians, and why they wann fly their own course and everything! I got that!I just would like that we'd got 2 sentances without ONE be someone flaming the other side. Jeez... >.>

Christianity itself was not made up, yes, the religion was tweaked, thus the many denominations of Chistianity; however, to say it is a fact that it is entirely made up is a false assumption. I just felt I had to say something about that. I apologize if you consider this some sort of flame. It is in not intended to be so.

I know a few Athiests. I'm not one myself. I respect everyone's views. I myself believe in both religion and evolution. The Athiests I know are pretty open about it, they say to me when the topic is on God, that there is no God, but I still believe in him. I don't mind them. :)

This topic isn't fair.. Why single out Atheists? Why couldn't you have just called the topic, 'What is your opinion on Religion(s)?'

Anyway, I, along with the rest of my family are Protestant, but I'm not really religious =/ I'd say we were brought up in a Protestant background, without really caring about the religion. I've never even been to church, and I've even said God doesn't exist but I'd still say I'm Protestant.

Also, I have nothing to say about Atheists. They're just normal people like anyone else and they have their own beliefs. Each to his own. I'll leave it at that ;)

Simple and clean, Lithium, very simple and clean.

Frankly, I'm fine with Atheists. They're just like Lithium said, normal people who aren't 'ABNORMAL' and they're own beliefs. As long as they respect what I believe in and I respect that they don't believe in God, I'm fine with that.
