What is up with these Pokemon movies?

Did some time in the past someone decide "Hey, we should have talking pokemon." and just make every pokemon movie since then have a talking pokemon, which has some of the most annoying/worst voice acting in all of the show's history? Because I can't think of a time there wasn't a talking pokemon. And I'm not entirely sure Meowth counts, since it's been there since the beginning

 

At least Meowth has a reason he talks. He taught himself by watching people. Mewtwo also talks because he is a powerful psychic and I'm pretty sure he does it via telepathy and Arceus is basically God so why wouldn't he talk. Every other talking Pokémon, no idea.

 

Lucario does the same as Mewtwo, Genesect is a robot, Zorua also does the same as Mewtwo, Shaymin is also telepathic, and I think that's it.

 

Isn't Lucario a Steel/Fighting type? How does he have Psychic powers?

Disappointed that Mewtwo didn't talk in Origins. I mean, that would definitely have made the special at least 40% better in my eyes.

What about the one with Manaphy? I'm pretty sure none of the Pokemon talked in that one. There was also that special anniversary movie with the guy who made those mirage Pokemon.

Well he technically would be able to manipulate Aura and go into someone's thoughts and make it so they understand him.

Either way, it's the anime so I really don't care as much as I would if they did this in the game.

 

I think they just wanted an excuse for him talking. So they were all like "He can manipulate the spiritual energy surrounding bodies to talk." Which is crap. Why not just say he learned to talk. Meowth did it. :\

 

Well him doing that isn't as Farfetch'd as all the Pokemon learning to talk the same way.

Here's a question, how come Lugia could talk in the second movie yet when a Lugia make an appearance in the anime proper it couldn't talk?
