The point (I'd prefer to use the word meaning >_>) of life is what you make it. There is no all encompassing point of life. We are all too different. Your life will not have a point if you don't try. You have to find things to give it meaning and purpose. Basically, your life is as good as you make it.

I don't really think life is that complex. Though I also don't believe in God at all either and think that people make up their purposes for themselves, even if they are religious because they also decide to follow that sort of path. Sometimes adults steer their children to becoming something or people use religion as a way to say there's more to it, but life to me is simply to do more than just exist; especially because we have this miraculous frontal lobe that keeps us sentient. Anything can and will exist for its time allotted, but to live life is to be a part of it, do the things you want to, accomplish goals you set out for yourself and experience and even dive into what is there to offer. This I feel holds true whether religious or not.

I also feel, as CtR said, that there may always be strife and disagreement; friction between people. We can have arguments with people and some simply take things too seriously, while others intentionally are being duo-natured with negative intentions schemed. Accepting that we all have our negative and positive features does help in learning tolerance but sadly there is a point where a line must be drawn on what any society can accept from a single member or group. That line will vary but still, it is important.

I do think though that as we attempt to dismiss certain things that are really irrelevant that people mark as different to others (which some instigate wars) which really should not matter; such as color of skin, religion, gender, sexual preference and most cultural ethnics, we can realize we are 'people' and start trying to get over on instincts. Instinctive prejudice is a fast determiner to 'avoid danger' and be aware, but as we are sentient, we can teach ourselves knowledge that just because someone is not like you, you don't have to distrust or despise them. This does help even now with the more communication we are able to get and the integration of cultural groups, but we have a lot to work on. There will always be some people that are going to cause the immense problems, but if the rest of us work on doing things right and enjoy the ride, (the theme of it all) then we'll be alright and get some good times over the bad.

Perhaps the real issue isn't whether or not there's something incomplete with our world or that something outside or inside of ourselves is at fault. It's just that our general thoughts on this question themselves are flawed. As of now we live in the best possible world imaginable. It's not that we can't imagine better things for ourselves, it's that we're unable to imagine something far worse than what we have. For any other greater good that you could possibly imagine there is an implication that something much far worse than war or famine could exist with it. Sure we could live in a world free of hunger and united peace, but who's to say that in that very same universe there aren't a vicious species of man eating cupcakes that plague us--ridiculous, but nonetheless possible.

I'm not saying that we shouldn't take action and simply go about a passive existence, because proactivity, compassion, and other acts go a long way. We should do what we can, but keep in mind that we're part of a much bigger picture than the "big picture" we've thought ourselves to be a part of. Think of it as placing a shroud over Van Gogh's Starry Night hiding ever single paint stroke save for a tiny black dot in the night sky. Alone, like anything wrong with this world it appears out place and perhaps even wrong. But if you pull away the curtain it fits perfectly into something much larger to marvel at.

It shouldn't necessarily be about what the meaning of life is, because we derive one's duties, goals, aspirations, etc in life from our own; in essence no one can explain to another the meaning of life. Even something as simple as "to live" holds a unique obscurity to it. The question should really be concerned with what the bigger picture is. Only when we understand that can we understand the world.

Everyone sees the world in a different way. To unite and make virtually ANY kind of progress together is nearly impossible, so we all choose to live believing what we believe, and that's fine. People's beliefs vary greatly, as do their goals and values. We all believe what we want to, and we never actually find out the answer to this question.

I agree with Axel's #1 Fangirl; The point of life is to serve our purpose. Whether we're the jolly old man who waters the flowers or the farmer who grows the town's fruit, we're all serving a purpose. Without the old man, the flowers would die and a form of beauty in the world would die. Without the farmer, the townspeople would not get the proper nutrients.

From a slightly different point of view, life's purpose can change from person to person. Jenny may want to be a supermodel and inspire young girls to follow the same path, while Mollie Sue wants to grow up, get married and have children. They're all serving a purpose in the world.

As for what others have brought up about peace, I believe that as long as people are individuals and have their own ideals and values, the world will never be a peaceful place. What I don't understand is why others can not accept other people's views, or how differently they want their roller coaster to be compared to their own, and co-exist happily with one another?

I would say the reason why is because the ride is as diverse as the people are. You can find unique flora and fauna, conditions etc depending on where you are and people adapt to that as well as dealing with other people. We are still, no matter how much we try to escape it, bound to reflections of where we grow up and what has been adapted for us for generations. If the ride had included us all together from the beginning, and we had all the same conditions to live in, we could understand each other more. We are doing this with integrations but it does take time. That is why we can with communications learn of other places, study other places on our own and visit them, get a view of cultures etc, more than we ever were in the past. However, unfortunately as there is good in each setting we also find the bad and that's where we need to tweak ourselves and use our adaptability for what it can be as we are sentient beings. There are simply people though that cannot or 'will not' adjust to things and instead seek to make things in their viewpoints, and that is when we have the problem. Others will not want to change as some see and so the cultural and regional effect become pushy and things happen. It's more complex than that, but that would the very basic view I think. Our diversity can be a gift if people start seeing it more that way and it does help us to develop wondrous things, but when people are glued on their own specific ideal and can't accept another possibly 'good' thing, well, we either stagnate or we war. Too many people I suppose want to be in charge of the ride and tell others where they have to go so their ideals can stay alive 'untainted' instead of co-existing and adapting.

In my honest opinion,we are all here in this world to live life to the fullest.
It may not be clear for us our reason of living but that is up to us,to search our own reason of living.
    It's for you to decide.

To be truthful, I don't like your idea of life, as a ride. Saying life is a ride, it's just to simple. You can't expect anything from anyone, you have to work your way, this is reality. Theres never going to be somebody there to help you out, people would rather take care of themselves, rather then others. You can say that's not fair, but to me, when you start to learn the lesson, it is.

As I said before, IMO the point of life is to live. It would be very easy to say that the point is to die, but life isn't easy. We make it what we will and it lies in our hands. There is not set destination.

Well ill said this for what i have experience on life my self.......
I tink that the main problem whit "us" having a purpose/destiny/fate or whatever you whana call it is that,do we really know what's out there for us?
I mean we all live this live and yet we never tink about what surround us.
Example1: What if from the begining of "racionality" religion didnt exist? or goverments? i tink it will still happen, just a bit sonner.
    Why?
Will the fact its the in "the old days" they wil kill or chase people away for being smart or creative or speak their own mind, why? cause if you where to say "i dont believe in god" all people will say your going to hell...if you where smart creative tinker of why we believe in something that we cant see.... they tink you where the devil's son or something, and this we all know for a fact....
And even now in this "modern day's" if you where to say "i dont believe in god, or i hate god" many people will say you going to hell right?
What if we where to find out once your dead there nothing laying ahead of you, that thats it? i tink that the main reason we believe in god or fear satan its cause its not that we are ready to die, but actually afraid of dying and to find out that, that's it, thats the end of the road pal, and you where nothing.

Still thats the beauty of life there's allways something new to hope for, even if it is under false believe's or not, cause i tink life's its about how good your feel and not what other people tell you should fell like, we have to remember we are individual's meaning we thing by our own free will, still going under this believe can be a little tricky why?
Simple some people fell good when they have a lot of money, other's by stealing or killing or having power,or figthing or torture or many many thing i can keep saying...still other's feel good while doing other things like helping the comunity/feeding the poor/helping animals/being a police/fireman/medic and all this its just of what we all fell good at....but one thing im sure of most people who are selfish will never do anything to help, and in fact theill make it worst just to be more important....the result creativy comes from greed and thats a fact, why are weapons made? to defend and to obtain more that we you allready have, for fame, for envy and for desperation of how we live, and this does not only apply on in weapons for killing people but tactics to get reachier,to fight, to be better then the other person.....soo after all this you still tink that all that sorruonds us its not the creation of our own greed or darker side then you have to be a complete nincaput....
The fact we said we have a purpose of coming to Earth, the we where destined to do this or that, for me its a bit complicated to reafirm cause how can you prove that there's god or satan after life? how can you believe in something that you cant see? in that matter how can you prove someone put you here to make a diference?
Thats life for you at the end depends in what YOU tink about, not what people said you should think or what to hope for, you have power to make your life, to chose what to believe, the fact is we all whana have control over other's or something, like people telling their children they have to be doctors or lawyers or this and that, and we never actually sit down and talk to our children and ask what THEY want to be, when you see a person having a better car/house etc etc...you envy him and you wish you have something like that or better.
But that is just common we allways been like this and I dont tink it will change anytime sonner,I tink that until the world unified in to one power and into one language and to give the same rights to every one, i tink it will be the only solution and i tink that until we reach that day we all gonna keep saying that we come to this earth to have a purpose cause in this times we fell soo useless that we have to have a meaning or a purpose to keep on living cause otherwise why we come here if where are not happy, when we see children diying, when we witness terrorist attacks, when we see how other people are happy and we are not cause they leave better than us,that is why will ask this question's cause we are unhappy whit our current position in life that we need to create hope's and dreams to keep us alive......
Now my question is what do YOU believe in?

Life doesn't suck. Life has its ups and downs. If all you focus on is the downs then that is what you'll always get. If you pay attention to the good and the bad things that happen, your life is better. I don't think the 'optimistic' people that go around with fake smiles and weird gleamy eyes are anymore right than those that are going around emoing and being depressed all the time. Life is what it is, in simple: Life. You can either choose to 'exist' and suffer or you can choose to live and get the most out of it, learn and enjoy the time you have with it, or you can fake it's a bed of roses and all.

Of course, because we are all so diverse, how we feel about life will differ too. I prefer my way of looking at things as they really are, but others may be more extreme to being overly pessimistic or overly optimistic. I prefer to be a realist and not bother sugar coating up things but not always drudging through the mud either. In the end though, I have to admit, as anyone else should, that it is all a 'point of view'. It's a self opinion and well, when people respect those more, things will get better. However, I can't see that everyone will EVER share the same points of views or tolerate absolutely others for theirs. There is a growing level of tolerance that happens but then I can look to places and see hatred that is just lame, such as racism, gender bias, sexual orientation and preference matters more than it should, skin color and cultural issues are so damned important, religion in the hands of some that spouts hatreds and teaches people it is acceptable to steal and burn things...it's just the way it is.

No one can control another person absolutely. No one can forcibly change someone's mind. People like to think they can because they can put their will on someone weaker willed and make them kowtow but in the end, we are all individuals. When we create ideas, we are 'alone' to do so. Each person has their own little world of 'thought' and it can mesh with other people's but there is always going to be difference and that's just how it is. We can train each other to be different but if someone doesn't want to: Oh well. If they are harmful enough with their views, they are taken out because they are a threat or put away out of mainstream society. That's just how it is and dodging that issue means failure in the parts of designing any society. However, I also kind of get tired of the naysayers that humanity is all bad etc too. If we were all bad, we would not bother trying to stop those that are harmful to us greatly. However, we are most powerful when a majority agrees with something and unless that happens, we can't do as much. It doesn't make life suck. It's just the way it is.

Life is Life. You make of it what you will. In the end, your life is your own and you decide what it is, who you will be, and what you do within the constraints of what is open and available to you. So really, we may all differ but in the end, we are all probably right.
