What is a true friend?

I think that a 100% true friend is someone that you find in your life that your so comfortable around and happy with that you want to spend the rest of your life with them and the rest of your life making them smile when times get bad :)

A true friend is someone who likes you as you are,someone who will listen to you and give you advice without judgement on that person,someone you can trust with anything.

 

Being loyal to each other, that's what friendship is about, in my opinion.

When a friend needs my help, I'm there for him/her. I believe loyalty and honesty are my strongest points. I wouldn't lie to my friends, except if it's just really personal, y'know? But yeah, I think loyalty is the most important thing in friendship.

 

i just have to agree with you, you need to have trust to be someone's true friend. also, you need someone who's not afraid to tell you the truth =3

 

I say a true friend is somebody who has your back at all times.Sticks up for you when you need them.Like if your in trouble.They back you up on what you have to say.I have alot of friends who are nowhere near that.But I have a few that are.I hang with them the most.So it matters if the person likes to take risks or not.

 

I have lots of people who I might call friends - mostly people I know from class or Youtube, but really only one true friend. When I was a high school senior, I took the first archaeology class ever offered in NC. In it was this annoying little freshman who was as naive as I used to be - always thinking he would invent something or do something and get super rich. When I met him it was a fusion reactor. I bugged him about it for weeks, and god, we annoyed the crap out of each other!

3 years later, we talk almost daily, even though I am at Appalachian State and he is still in high school. We talk about almost everything - art, the futility of sports, movies, morality, ethics, religion, gaming... Just, everything. That is what I would consider a true friend. I know that, unless something really drastic happens, we will keep talking until we die. He's planning to go into game design now, and said that, if he possibly could, he would get me free copies of any of his games.

 

a friend is someone who likes you for what you are, not for what you lack. you can tell them something and expect them not tell anyone.

 

A true friend is who wont put you down and out, but who picks you up and stands by your side. A true friend is a person who can have polar intrests in something but find one thing to connect on and bulid on that. A true friend never leaves you, even if you are on the other side of the world. You'll always have those memories of that friend and the laughter and tears there, and makes you happy in the end. A true friend is one where you can fight then laugh about it a few days later.

And if something draws you aprt, like school or moving, youre going to end up seeing them again some day, and you'll remember them and have a bunch of new stuff to talk about.

i totally agree and theres no need for me to type out my own response in different words. loyalty is a HUGE value that is unfortunately overlooked when it comes to friendship

 

a TRUE friend in my opinion is someone who actually cares about another person's well being. a regular friend in my opinion is just someone you hang out with and have fun.

 

A true friend is a friend you can confess too that you are Homosexual and not tell anyone. They'll also support you in what ever you do. No rumors, no drama, just a couple of Idiots spending time being Dunces.​

 

A true friend is the one who sits next to you in jail saying, "damn, that was fun!"​

 

A true friend is someone you can trust with everything.
Someone who won't randomly ditch you for others.
Someone who is unconditional.
Someone who will stick by your side through the fun and the hard times.
Who aren't embarrassed by you.
Who won't talk about you behind your back.
Someone loyal.
Somone who forgive and forget with you.
Someone you'll never feel awkward around.
Someone you can always talk to NO MATTER THE TIME.

No one can tell you what a "true" friend is. That is up to you and your life experiences to help you realize what is true and what is not.

I suppose I can try and lend you a different perspective, though? Maybe a true friend is like your older friends (the ones you miss)? Or someone who resembles them, but has some variations in there as well?

 

I wouldn't lock the topic since the person who made it is gone. Others have a right to express their opinions on it and it's a general open topic so I see there's no reason to really close it.

My truest friends put up with me. xD We can insult each other playfully and know it's not to be taken serious. We also can tell each other our flaws without getting so offended and we help each other out. We can even be really mad at one another at times but yet even if we say stupid things when angry, we're always back to normal soon after because we know that what is said when in a bad mood is only part of the truth and is frustration. There's a comprehension there that makes a true friend more on the level of a good sibling. We get in trouble together, we goof around, we can be serious, and if someone is down, we have our ways of saying that things will get better and it isn't sugar-coated. It's honest. I have two great friends and I can be grateful for that. I've known them for years and when others move on or change their attitudes etc, I don't really mind it. It's better to me to have those couple good friends than to have a bunch of people around who are fair weather sorts.

 

A true friend is hard to come by indeed. A friend is somebody that's always there for you, not just on weekends and holidays. Somebody that listens to you. Somebody that you can tell secrets. Somebody that you'll do anything for and they'll do the same for you. Somebody who, just when you think you're down, and out, will help you get back on your feet. I'll let you decide who is and who is not, your friend.
