What if we had a Pokémon Tag Battle Tournament?

It's not like we are on some countdown timer and if we don't make the deadline we all die.

We establish the rules, tally up who is playing and make a tournament bracket, set the dates that the battles with occur and whatnot and just treat it as any normal video game tournament.

lol no. Even with perfect IVs and EVs in all the right stats with the appropriate nature and great moves, that's still a grossly optimistic statement to make considering the person you're playing against likely EV trained and got the right nature as well. just doesn't work like that
Those strategies (if you can call taking advantage of a luck-based system a strategy) are fine for in-game play, but in a competitive scene they can break the game when everyone is maxing EVs and sweeping. Deal with it.

Eh, I guess. One could still take em out with a level 1 Rattata, but whatever. :\
How about we establish a limit on how many times such moves could be used then? That way they could still be used to for strategy purposes, being that they are still stat buffs and debuffs.
    Hey I agreed with this.
How about we compromise and say you can have, let's say, up to two of the same kind of Pokémon on a team. That way if someone's team has about two of one species of a Pokémon on their preferred them they can still use it.
    Ah. Now I get it.
Eh, Pokémon got along just fine without them before but okay.

    I see.
Hmm. Got it. Still not sure how Friend codes work. I'll have to figure that out. :\

Actual Pokémon. I want to murder my way with my PoisonMaster I trained dammit!

Darkrai would be able to use Dark Void and put Ratttata to sleep and then cause passive damage via Bad Dreams, rendering the Endeavor strategy useless, but that's kinda aside the point.

Maybe we could work with a limit for evasion moves. For myself, twice is where I draw the line. Three and more, and it just starts turning into luck. I'd like to hear what other people think on that restriction though.

I'd personally just prefer having only one of each; it feels awkward to me to have teams with duplicates (looking at you, GSC Lance.) We can have further discussion on this.

Some Pokemon really needed the buff and wouldn't get it any other way: Aggron's Steel/Rock type made it weak to two common offensive types, which is remedied by his Mega form being pure-Steel and receiving the Filter ability. Ampharos was a non-threat, and its Mega form giving it half-Dragon type and a huge boost to its Sp. Atk makes it a balanced option for multiple strategies. However, there are some Pokemon that I feel just became broken with Mega Evolution; among them being Blaziken, Gengar, and Kangaskhan. It's a double-edge sword, but I like the concept for making some of my favorite Pokemon actually useful competitively.

Friend Codes work by sharing them and registering them on one's 3DS. You can find it in the 3DS' main menu by clicking the orange smiley icon at the top.

My exact thinking. Simulators are fun, but remove the bond that you make by actually training your Pokemon.

This x1000. If the "luck-based" banned stuff is allowed, I'm out. The whole point of competitive gameplay is a measure of human skill, not a ton of luck being on your side. This is why they try to eliminate as much of that as possible. I'd rather not someone set up six double teams and me spend half an hour trying to kill them.

    Well played.
Twice per Pokémon who have the move is reasonable.
Me personally I don't have duplicates on my team, I prefer having one of each.
Yeah, I guess that is reasonable.
Thank you. Will it show me my friend code? I'm assuming it would but I don't know. :\
    Indeed.

Speaking of which, anyone know where I can get a Sun Stone? I'm trying to level up/evolve my B-Team Pokémon and my Helioptile, Gawain, needs it to evolve.

Also debating if I should use Burrito the Sylveon, my most recent Pokémon, in this Tournament or not.

So is no one going to make a social group? I can do it if no one else wants to.
What do we want to call it?

It will show you your Friend Code. SImply scroll to your own Mii.

Sun Stone locales: Route 13, Anistar City, Secret Super Training (Drag Down Hydreigon!), Shalour City, Route 18 (from Psychic Inver), held by wild Solrock

Depends on how well your Sylveon is trained and how well it synergizes with the rest of your team.

    The Keyblade Region?
    The Heartless League?

Cool. Thank you. I'll be sure to check it out when we get to it.

    Got to remember this. Thanks.

So far he's about level 20 (only got him couple weeks ago and haven't touched the 3DS in a while), but I'm sure he could murder dragons with the best of them!

ELITE FOUR BURNITUP wants to battle!

oooooh **** we're getting creative, huh?
I thought it would be "Official KHV Pokemon Tournament" or something boring like that, but I love love love the idea of naming it a league. thats awesome. How about The Kingdom League or The League of Hearts or The Master League or The League of Darkness (lol) or something? Or if anyone has any ideas at all that are better that would be great.

edit: im gonna go ahead and start making it if it hasn't been made already. maybe we could expand this even more and hold tournaments throughout the year, or even have it be a hub of sorts for khv Pokemon activity where anyone can play against another khv user whenever they want and keep a tally of wins. I know this is pretty ambitious thinking and maybe even leaves the realm of feasibility for a social group but it's something to think about, though really it's just a matter of coordination. I just think that in naming this a "league" it could be so much more. Of course this all hinges on how well this goes.[DOUBLEPOST=1404699739][/DOUBLEPOST]http://kh-vids.net/social-forums/the-kingdom-league.59/
