Strange question, but what if everyone over 16 died suddenly?

What would happen to the world order? How would the children of the world survive?

    Thoughts?

id be dead so i wouldnt care

id think that the world would not have war, since children are one, not able to pilot large vehicles, and if people die right when they turn 16, then it would almost be physically impossible to have populations grow since, giving birth that early is bad physically

To put it simply, we'd be screwed. Kids today are for the most part too immature (and in a few cases just plain stupid) to take care of themselves without a guardian to clean up after all of their screw-ups. So many of them whine about their lives being screwed up when they've got it better than thousands others, and they wouldn't be able to get anything done. The only hope we'd have would be the kids that are actually both smart and mature enough to understand that wise action is needed in order to survive in this world rather than dependence on others, and I have no doubt such children exist, but its still a question if they can operate the same without their older family members around.

    /end rant

^These. Earth would be screwed until some of them grew up and took control, and then we would be back to the old forms of government - the strongest rule, and the weak die. That is, if they don't all die from hunger or disease first.

Also, what happens to the bodies of the adults? If they just drop dead, the chances of disease are even higher.

Hmm well this is tricky...Us kids are awesome and all but who makes food? who fixes things? I'd say maybe if we figured stuff out ourselves we could keep on with life but if we fail byebye humaity.

    I wouldn't know.
    I'd be dead.
But pretty much what childofturin, ouroboro, and Hayabusa said. Eventually, children will form an heirarchy and things would go on. How that would end up though depends on the conditions of the question. Would you die the moment you became 17? Or is there only one phenomenon?

Well, we would probably figure something out. I mean, the smarter older ones would probably take charge in taking care of the younger ones. It would be hard, but we'd pull through, although the lacking of adults would mean no teachers, doctors, mechanics, etc. which would make things even harder. hm... it's a random question, but a very deep and thoughtful one.

The disease can only be caught by people currently over the age of 16 if you turn 16 after it you aren't going to catch it. This is a strange question so I'll just say this, the disease eats your body so fast that it's almost like everyone over 16 left in the rapture.

    ^ Ultimately this.

Humanity wouldn't be totally screwed. There would obviously be smarter and more mature people 16 and under, but there would likely be a fair amount of chaos as well.
It would be hard, and it would take work to survive. Kids would actually have to get off their asses to help themselves, and we'd have to work together. But I don't think we'd be doomed.

This question really depends on the kids surviving. If they're spoiled, they're likely to die. They're actually are some kids who actually can survive. Like wilderness lovers. However, the kids under six are likely to be left for dead. [lol Left 4 Dead]. There probably won't be a government, mostly because the kids don't know much about running it.

See, i'm unsure about the prospect. As far as history shows nothing like this has ever happened before. I've got no background information on what could even happen in the first week, let alone the survival of the whole race.

Personally, I think humans are like cockroaches or bacteria. You may be able to destroy 99.9% of them, but that last little perscent is not likely to die so easily.
Natural instincts would kick in at some point, the kids would learn to eventually work as a group, build a community and hopefully learn to have a bearable living. At the age of 15, I think if this had happened I could have possibly been able to hold my own. But i'm 17 so it's the grave for me!

Take a wild guess of what would happen. With today's society, there would be no ambition, no determination, or any common sense. I honestly couldn't accurately tell you how it would go down though. There would certainly be no parental advisory so they could do whatever they wanted without consequence. To put it simply, the book of revelations would be realized.

Almost all of the essential practical skills will be lost (apart from farming, as kids 16 and under often help around the farm). A lot of the kids would die though and our development as a species would be severely stunted for a long time.

Let's see...They'll have to use up what we have left while planning ahead, otherwise it'll be too late. For example, they have a vast supply of medicine but they'll have to be quick to figure out how to keep making those medicines.
Which means they'll have to keep the factories running.
Which means they suffer major unemployment due to a large chunk of the world population kicking the bucket.
Which means they have to re-organise work very quickly.
Which means they'll have to organise themselves.
Which means I think we're screwed because these kids aren't fast, smart or decisive enough to do this on time.
Which would mean an incredible reduction in humanity's life span.

What type of an emotional toll would be taken for billions of people dying. They would be siblings, parents, lovers, friends.

Every person age 15 to 1 would be put under such momentous trauma that I think we would return to the middle ages for at minimum one generation. Formal education would vanish overnight, rioting and looting would sweep the world since kids would be forced into the situate of providing for themselves or younger siblings. Governments would probably return to a hierarchy. Religion would alter. Arts would slowly disappear. International travel or interaction would vanish until a "New Renaissance" transpired.

I think that if this were to happen, the older ones would probably harbor some rage / guilt and want to hold someone responsible. Someone would have to be held responsible. Teens are a transitional age where they are forced to come into their own. If something so devastating like this were to happen, then their mindset would definitely alter.

Either "Lord of the Flies" or Middle Ages.

Well despite ll of you saying all us kids are screwed...I think your wrong...Yeah they look like dumb ****s but in a serious situatioon theyre good...Heck theres some that know how to put cars together, ones that help with farming...we all have some kind of knowledge there would be alot of trdgedy and sadness but I think as lonmg a everyone puts their heads together he could survive as one...and theres no point in goverment...they tell yo not to steal v a;uable things but in that kind of situation who the hell needs to steal an xbox 360?

Friends and family members would stick together, with the oldest taking the lead. At first there would obviously be mass panic, with people becoming scavangers and thieving to survive. I don't think there'd be issues with food as there'd be plenty to go around at first and then the oldest and smartest would find a way to organise food production again. But with communications, travel and education down, I can imagine it would be a lot like a tribal era again.
