I agree with Kairi_girl_92 because Ansem the Wise was the one holding that machine, and everyone else were pretty far away from that explosion..but yeah..I agree that he did died.

Well I have been thinking about this myself and it is my belief that Ansem the wise became a heartless in the realm of nothingness and he was able to escape through the power of darkness. I did notice that Ansem the Wise's eyes were the same colour as Xemnas's. So I think that it was Ansem's nobody we saw die in that explosion fooled by the fake feeling of a heart he lost. So it is possible for him to return because after such a action to the light it may have got to his heart setting him free like Kairi did for Sora in Kingdom hearts. And if you all recall it was Ansem the wise that said that Riku's new form was the result of his blinded thoughts of revenge so maybe it was Ansem the wise who set Riku free. But that is just a theory if I am right or not we will have to wait and see.

Might I just ask what purpose he would have in the future games? (Like kh3 and kh4 if there is one, not bbs)
He wouldnt have one. Its more likely that hes dead...I mean, even Mickey thought that he died. Mickey was friends with Ansem for a lonnnng time. He probably knew all of the skills that AtW had if he had any with darkness, therefore, he probably knew that would have killed him. And he wasnt blasted with any type of light...that was pure light. Not even Sora could withstand it, and I'd say that his current status as a keyblade weilder is second strongest (behind mickey of course) so thats saying a lot.

Not so fast...Just because he had yellow eyes doesnt mean that he had no heart, or was a nobody. Riku had yellow eyes, and he never ever lost his heart in the series...that was most likely the true Ansem the Wise. Not only this, but AtW had feelings. He wanted revenge the entire time...the reason he was sorry for what he put Riku through was because we was too caught up in his own revenge to care about anyone else.

His purpose is nothing in a new game.

Unless you twist the "Anything can happen" bit, and give him a purpose.

He chose to stay. He said anything could happen. Anything did happen. Riku got purified, sort of. Ansem got hit by all of it. What does that mean? Death? Light destroys darkness, not light. Ansem the Wise was not darkness.

Even if his time as a human has come to an end, I suspect something else may have happened to him. Perhaps he becomes a keyblade? (like ven?)

He could become the King of Hearts. He could become the voice.

The main point I believe kh2 was trying to prove was that neither Light nor Darkness is good or evil. We see that a person from the Darkness can weild light (Roxas and the Silver Rock heartless) and Darkness can be good (Riku). Now that I think about it, I dont think anyone weilds light...or creates it, they just manipulate it around them. Light is too powerful to control. With that being said, Light takes on the same properties as Darkness, too much of it can kill. Thats what I believe happened to AtW when he was enveloped in light.

First of all, that Light explosion was neither bad nor good. It purified Riku, and brought hearts to the surrounding nobodies, but it killed Ansem and brought forth heartless.

Ven becomes a keyblade? What? When!?

I think i know what might have happened.Once the encoder exploded he was transformed into data.He transferred this data to his computer, onto a different server and starts to acumulate data once more.

Actually, I doubt Ansem knew it would help Riku in any way or if he did think it might help him, it was risky at best. He even states something along the lines that no one can understand the way the Heart works completely. Riku did a pure act in defending the others from the blast as he could so that act is probably what saved him and also the Light probably cleansed him back to his normal form since though he had Xehanort's Heartless in body, the spirit had been defeated a year ago in CoM.

    These are the two points:

    For death:
    He reached a resolve.
    He has no purpose.
He was hit by a massive light explosion.

    For Gandalf/Obi-wan-ness:
Kingdom Hearts would not contain meaningless suicide.
He said his heart was telling him to stay. It is doubted his heart would try to kill itself.
He said "Anything could happen". This quite possibly opens the door for rebirth.
    His death was meaningless.
    Where would his heart go?

    Well? Have I summarized correctly?

It doesn't matter who it is - spam is still spam. But do explain to him, I can understand it if it's a newcommer mistake. :>

    ANYWHOO...

Yes, anything could have happened to Ansem in that explotion. Just being in the center of it could have literally turned him into dust, you can't deny it was a powerful blast. But I like what Pika was saying on page 4, how the heart took over and told him to stay were he was, as if it knew something. We have no proof he is dead, after all. We can only asume.

    Okay...the first part makes sense...

    The second part...?
Axel? Sora could have taken on all of those nobodies by himself. Besides, after the Xemnas battle, had to do so with Riku...and Donald and Goofy were there at Axel's death, so there really wasnt a problem...
Still, AtW death wasnt a meaningless suicide. He lead a regretful life, and it hurt him. Besides, he wanted to truly help Sora, since he thought Sora was definately someone who could help him right his life again.

When did his heart do that? And he wasnt trying to kill himself he realized that encoding hearts was impossible. AtW only realized an explosion would go off once the machine started shaking and he told Mickey to stay back...
You said that kh wouldnt include meaningless suicide...I'd have to disagree, but the one thing I will say is that no one in kh has been reborn.
Well, if the nobody kingdom hearts was destroyed, then it would go to the regular kh like all hearts do.

I think maybe he wanted to die, because his life kind of sucked
so he purposely killed himself in the explosion

That makes sense, but if it it didn't exactly kill Xehanort's heartless? Almost all hearts have one bit of darkness and maybe Xahanort clinged on to his life with a piece of darkness, but had still been forced out of riku's body? I know that this is not exactly the best theory, but, what if (as other people had said) they did baoth return to a place in the realm of nothingness, and then, what if Xehanort crept his way into a dark part of his heart and slowly started to take over his body (ansem the Wise's body, of course)? (and now for how this theory fits into BBS and kh3) And then, what if melding with Ansem had returned his memories of being Xehanort his apprentice? After then, he would find some thing else in the realm of nothingness that gave him back his memories (and possibly his own body and heart) of master xehanort. (this connects with another theory of mine: Aqua, Terra, and Ven defeating Master Xehanort, but something happens, so instead of him dying, he is robbed of all his memories and becomes young again.) He then attacks Sora and Mickey because he wants to get revenge against Keyblade wielders (and because Mickey looks familiar) in kh3. Sorry my theory's so crazy and slightly off-topic, I just wanted to post my thoughts.

The answer is quite simple, should he return he will come back...as the ANSEM TO BE FOUGHT IN THE NEXT GAME.

However in my opinion bringing him back would be slightly meaningless as him dying is the "cleanest" solution.

I found this one most interesting, so I have to enlighten on something here:

Ansem the wise actually was darkness.
You read the Secret Ansems report, and you will notice that.

"In order to stay alive in this realm of nothingess, I have allied myself with the dark, and become intertwined with it....I will now be known as DiZ...Darkness...in...Zero...."

Not word for word, but that's how I remember it.

Still, that doesn't actually negate my arguement that Ansem the Wise still lives.

On another note....wow...It really does look like I'm talking to myself a few times at the beginging where Wisdom Form Guy spammed the hell out of this thread....0.0

The light of the heart encoder was to pure to him so he was consumed by it and perished. As he said that "anything could happen" maybe he ment by he could survive and encoded the heart or he couldn't survive and destroyed the heart.
