I miss alot of shows I used to love *sniffle* I miss watching rugrats, now they have the stupid new version where they're older, and it sucks. I loved the adventures they went on in the backyard.

As for other shows...I don't really watch tv anymore, I watch only one channle, not joking. it's not just cartoons getting bad, it's everything, nothing is new, everything has some type of rude humor or just something rude in general. I've kinda given up on tv, besides, isn't going outside with a friend to a park or doing some other outdoor activty much better? I think so.

I think people only judge things by what they see on a few channels. And I think if you look back old shows like Tom and Jerry and Looney Tunes have alot of rude humor too. I saw this when watching Boomerang one day. Anyway, I think the only real difference between old cartoons and new cartoons is that the newer ones have newer pop culture refrences than the old ones, so older people really just don't get them.

Also now that I think about it this thread is talking about cartoony cartoons like Looney Tunes and Fairly Odd Parents, and those shouldn't be grouped with cartoons for older audiences like Gargoyles, and Transformers.

I think some people here are confused of what I'm talking about. When I'm referring to classic cartoons, I am referring the Golden Age of Animation. The 1940's to be excact. Not early Pokemon or Rugrats. The 40's were the golden age because people like Tex Avery,Bob Clampett, Chuck Jones were at thier prime. They did'nt have rude jokes. Just 7 minutes of wild takes, crazy chases, etc. Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Woody Woodpecker are some of the greatest cartoon characters ever created. They had more personality then any other character we see today. Those classic cartoons constantly reminded us that we are infact watching a cartoon, not live action. They did things we could only dream of doing. Today, we have cartoons that are trying to compete with live action on its own terms. Cartoons are too talky, flatly and poorly drawn, and nothing but rude jokes and pop culture refrences. Cartoons back then had pop culture refrences also, but they did'nt COMPLETELY rely on them for attempts at humor, unlike most of today's cartoons. But not all hope is lost. Someday another talented genius shall rise like another Tex Avery. Its only a matter of who that person is, and when it shall come. Then, people should realize what cartoons are truly about.
Anyways, I guess I went a little far on that speech. :/

But what cartoons are you talking about? I mean are you comparing them to all new cartoons? Because all new cartoons don't fall into the same category as what you're talking about...

I'm not sure I fully understand your question. But I mean catoons like the following:
    Tom & Jerry
    Looney Tunes
Tex Avery at MGM(Droopy,Screwy Squirrel. Red Hot Riding Hood, etc.)
    Woody Woodpecker
Don't get me wrong, though. There are some modern cartoons today I enjoy. But I don't find myself enjoying them on the same level of the classics.

I also will tune in to some Anime. If there's one thing Japan is good at, its cuteness and appeal. :)

I think her monkey went crazy with rabies and attacked her.

Anime and other stupid cartoons have taken over CN. Seriously, Teen Titans was good but they don't show it anymore. Now the cartoons are just digusting. Especially, with the jokes.

That's not true, my little brothers who are only 6 look shows like Tom and Jerry and the old Scooby-Doo as well as new cartoons like Ben10 (they should make that for 10 year olds since it makes my little brothers fight and attack me) but yes I think there killing off old cartoon to make room for new ones, but I think they should just re-make old ones by keeping the old stroy-lines and just giving them a new look like they have done with Tom and Jerry and Scooby-Doo, but there are so remake that I just can sit and watch like Batman and TMNT since they didn't stay with the old story line

I have also been wondering what happened to all those good cartoons that kasykockroach mentioned.

Well...I think most of them are now on Boomerang.

    man...I sure miss those shows.

and it's really terrible how corrupted TV has become.

I just don't understand how a show like The Simpsons for example can be called a kids show.

cause there's things like swearing and drug, alcohol, and sexual reference in alot of those episodes.

Cartoons has surely become quite bad these days, with only a few good ones.

Johnny Test is just a dumbass copy of the superior Dexter's Laboratory.

Brandy & Mr. Whiskers? Ish nice to see a furry show on tv, but that one just blows.

George of the Jungle has been pretty much killed.

I'm not even gonna watch that Speed Racer ripoff. XD

Only good cartoons we have now is Ben 10, Avatar, and American Dragon (yes, that show was pwnsome. XD)

No, I haven't outgrown cartoons at all

Back then in the 90s, you always had somethin' to look at that was good. Whether it was the Powerpuff Girls kickin' some monster's ass in new ways or the crazy misadventures of Dexter and Dee Dee, which always bluntly taught ye a moral at the end of the episode. Even 4Kids was great back then when they dubbed Pokemon, even though they were still taking off episodes, but back then, for the most sensible reasons

Today, normal cartoons just sidestep the humor inside episodes in favor of pop culture references and otherwise, dry humor that few people find funny at all.

I really miss Gundam Wing. x.x
