WMM is for basic video editing while Vegas and Adobe Premiere Pro is a very proffensional and a very good quality video editor.

Since your a beginner, I suggest using Windows Movie Maker. It's easy to use, has some decent effects and transitions and...if you have a PC... it's free!

The more confident you get at making movies, you can upgrade to a more professional program like Sony Vegas, or Adobe Premier..but you have to buy those programs and some of them can get pretty pricey... unless your willing to *cough*illegally*cough* download them...

If you need any help using Movie Maker, just PM me. I'm always willling to lend a helping hand to fellow AMV makers. ^^

WMM is good for beginners. Once you've got a firm grip of the basics, you can choose to move unto other advanced programs if you want.

If you're a newbie, I highly suggest that at this point you stick to Windows Movie Maker. After you become relatively good, try to make the transition to a better program. I personally use Sony Vegas for everything I edit. It's so extensive though; I've had Vegas 6.0 for close to two years now and I still don't know everything about the program. I don't suggest using it if you're not willing to spend a lot a time with the program, because you'll just be lost.

    ^what every1 said.

However, one thing, Adobe Premiere is nono. Well I have 2.0 and it's alright but when you're testing your video, quality is really bad, once it's refined though, it's great.

    Windows Movie Maker...

That's what I use sometimes. I use Vegas more often, but WMM is good too if you're just starting out. ;)

    Exactly what I would say.

WMM is very easy to use, though limitied it teaches you the basics. Then if your willing to invest in making better videos which as more options, then get a program like Vegas or Premiere.

Axel, Adobe Premiere is pretty much the best video editting software you can get. Premiere Elements is perfect for making AMV's and is rather cheap for under $100. Or for the version with more options Premiere Pro, which is much higher, but really elements is the better choice. If Premiere worked on my laptop I would be using it. But Vegas is pretty much just as good, though it's masking options aren't as good.

Like DS said, it has a steep learning curve, even with a years experience with WMM, chaning to Vegas was hard, so many options and never sure where to begin. But you will learn, and doing the basic's for me is easy now.
