As many of you who live in America know US Senator Ted Kennedy, D (MA), passed away early in the morning yesterday. And the Democratic party didn't wait too long to say 'Win One for Teddy'. The way I see this is the Democrats are using the death of Ted Kennedy to push the health care reform bill through congress. And honestly, that is despicable of them to pull this. Also, before his death, Ted Kennedy made a proposal to the Congress in Massachusetts which would allow the current Governor of the state to appoint somebody else to fill Ted Kennedy's seat in the US Senate. The current governor in Massachusetts is a Democrat, just like Kennedy. Currently the rule in that state is that a special election would be held to determine the new Senator. And the way that the approval rating of Obama and Democrats overall it's clear why they would want a Democrat to just appoint a new representative. This would not be the first time something like this has happened in Massachusetts. When John Kerry, D (MA), ran for president the law used to state that the Governor would appoint a new Senator to the seat. But at the time Mitt Romney, R (MA), was the Governor. So it was changed to have a special election. I'm just wondering what you guys think about the bottom section and of course the top. But the poll applies to the top part.
This is not the spam zone. That was spam. Please, if you're going to reply don't be an ignorant jerk.
Ted Kennedy was an amazing politician and we were offered a glimpse at what could have happened if both JFK and Robert Kennedy were combined into the same individual. Ted learned from the best, and strived to be himself while also emulating his brothers. I feel that Dem's are going to push health care now more than ever because not only that he was lobbying for it, but because he is one of the last (or is he the last?) Kennedy alive within politics. The Kennedy brothers have been so influential that I think this push can also be seen as a tribute to Ted. Is it wrong to use an image of someone with this much respect to get a bill past, yes and no.
Was what he did amazing or the fact that he was in the Senate so long amazing to you? I feel that they were gonna keep forcing it down our throats no mater what. It's clearly party first then country second. I would say it's just plain wrong to do it.
To tell the truth, I think they'll be using his name as a means of selling the reform because he was so involved with it, which to me is horribly wrong. I feel like they are going to use the whole idea of the reform as a sort of tribute to Ted to get it passed. What's the term? Sympathy card? I'm not sure if that's right, but the Dems might try to use his death to sway the votes in favor of the reform.
I'm definitely not going to say that Ted Kennedy's death isnt an influence. I just dont necessarily see it as a way simply for the democrats to get what they want and nothing else, I feel as though they're doing this mainly because Ted was so deeply involved with trying to get the bill passed and that they are trying to honor what he fought for.
