    Here's something to think about..

Most people think that when you kill an insect, it's gone forever, and that it has no after life. But aren't we as organisms (which are the same as any other organism) the same? We just literally cease to function as a whole?

    That's how I think about it. :3

Hmmm, i never thought about it that way. You have opened my eyes. :P

But seriously i haven't. We don't know if they just die & that's it, there could be an insect heaven. :P

When I think of death I think of lights going out and everything turning black.

Really? I always figured how death felt mostly depended on 'how you die'...
Personally, I thinks it's kinda the same thing that you said.

I'm Catholic so I believe there is heaven, purgatory, and hell. :p

But if there is no afterlife, I think that you just don't exist anymore..

I'm not afraid of death, whether there's an afterlife or not. If you don't exist anymore, you can't be sad or alone in the dark. And if there is heaven, hell, and purgatory.....well that's nice. (X

EDIT: and I'm not afraid of dying either. Unless I'm going to have a slow, painful death. Then I'll be scared :p :D

I think it will feel cold.... when my mom died she felt so cold (car crash death)
and that is the least way i want to die i want to die old with the people i love in my last vision or i will hate dieing in a lake or any kind of water cause all the pressure you feel and at my funeral i want everyone at my funeral to wear white or i want to be ressurected or reincarnated as a human, puppy or dog crap!

Lol this thread is still going >_>

I have thought about this and there are many possibilities:
    • The heaven/hell route which many people believe
    • The 'Nirvana' route which includes reincarnation
    • Nothing, when you die that's it, you stop existing as a sentient being and register no more thoughts
    • You go to some form of higher plane of existence, perhaps a higher dimension where existence is incomprehensible to us
    • You dream forever, unable to wake up

I personally would prefer the reincarnation route. It allows you to maximise your experiences in life through living over and over again. Heaven and hell would get far too boring, living in the same place for eternity >_>.

Well....I think of death as.......well...I HOPE this will happen.....but consdering that I diss God a whoel lot...he's probably not going to let this happen......anyway.....like...reincarnation......sort of.......you know?......or.....if you have stuff to do after you die you become a ghost(it's freaky....and...you really shouldn't be afraid of them...but...I can't help it..:D)

It is known that the brain is the central controlling unit of the body. But what controls the brain? Is it the soul? I think the soul tells the brain what to do, like an overseer. It manages your body, yet remains dormant until the body is disfunctional, thus unable to be controlled. Our soul is our true self, and it controls our thoughts. Our personality, our memories, and our minds are sacred and pure.

I wouldn't want t live another life just to lose my memories. They are precious to me. Sometimes I wish that something in my life never happened, but that would be like a God.

My family is Christian, but I have recently begun to second guess myself.

When my great-grandmother died, the night before my mom had a dream.
Someone told her that her grandma was at peace and would rise to Heaven. She woke up crying.
She told me about that a couple years ago.

So it makes me wonder, and I prayed today asking God to send me a dream about death. Me dying, and a view of what would happen to me.
I know it's selfish, and I even mentioned so in the prayer. But I need to know...

    Or I may stop believing.

Yeah, um... Not to sound so oblivious, but WHAT is Purgatory? Of course, me having 0% religion, I have to ask. :ninja:

Purgatory (or Limbo) is the place between heaven and hell. Apparantly God can be indecisive and people who haven't been good enough to get into heaven but aren't bad enough to go to hell go there instead.

In the Catholic faith, Masses are held after a persons death so that if they are in Limbo the people pray for them to get into heaven.

Read The Wish List by Eoin Colfer, it is based on this concept.

Very interesting posts! I really don't dwell much on this subject, however everybody probably thinks of it occasionally.Since we don't really know for sure what it will be like,I suspose we will all find out when our time comes.Depending on ones own faith, and teachings is about all we have to rely on.I,ve been raised to respect others feelings and beliefs concerning this matter. It's a very serious concern,so I'll try not to go on about it.I'll leave it to those of you that are more knowlegable about it than I am. Looking forward to your posts, as to learn more about your beliefs.

I think there's a flashyness thing.... Then you're born again at some random point in the future by some random people.......<.<

Or... For the arcade style people: GAME OVER will appear in front of you, and you have to insert a coin to be reborn

who knows? i personally think (but hope this isn't true) that when we die, it's like we go to sleep and never wake up. and for all we know where we are NOW might even BE heaven
