Kingdom Hearts II What do you think about Maleficent in KHII?

Well I decided to make this 'cause my Ursula one was getting off topic so, to all those people here you go!

I think that she didn't really have a purpose in the game, besides saving Sora twice. So what do you think?

 

her role was super limited in this game

i mean, she didnt appear as a boss, she appearedin what....3-4 cut scenes?

this game she was mainly a last chance character....

 

She had a purpose in the game. She was what made many worlds have a storyline. Other than that, her only purpose was to tick me off. xD (And save Sora twice)

 

sure she saved sora

but what did she really do in II?

she came to life, and did nothing.

pete did it all .
and he was idiotic

 

I think she was pointless. All of her roles could've easily been substituted by someone else. But maybe that was the point...Maybe she's setting something up, or will become a permanent ally in the future...Other then those possibilities, she was a waste of cutscene seconds >:3

 

I wanted to fight Maleficent again =[

There shoulda been some optional battle I think >.>

In a way, I thought Maleficent was there to do her plots but again, they were small time in comparison to what others had planned. Maleficent in KH was said by Leon to have come there after Ansem and the others fled the castle 9 years before and had been doing research and what not. She caused a lot of problems with the Heartless she could control and others just ran a muck. Those who survived ended up in Traverse Town. However, her plot with the Princesses of Heart and all made her the pawn she was trying to make Riku because Xehanort's Heartless was scheming all along and she basically gave him a way possibly to getting out and around. When Rikunort stabbed her, of course that was more Xehanort's Heartless doing the act than Riku.

In CoM she made a brief appearance because Riku ended up there and they fought and she left. Zexion makes the comment she was there but had been dealt with.

In KH2, she again comes out but this time, there's not just one being trying to go around her and use her etc. There is the Organization and basically she was out trumped, out matched and outclassed. She only helped Sora either because Riku convinced her somehow or because she wanted him to take them out since they were ruining her plans for conquest by being more powerful and doing their own damages. She also obviously wanted their power and territory once the Nobodies drew back to their world. I do agree she seemed kind of pathetic all through it with the schemes of hers and Pete's just being trounced by either Sora or the Organization repeatedly. I did hope for a good dragon battle again but ah well. Maybe she will be more effective in KH3 and it seems we'll see her in BBS for sure. It just does seem though Nomura has cast her as the villain that something always follows in shadow behind her to trounce out and do things, or she's a scavenger taking over other people's properties etc.

 

She really didn't have a purpose, I mean all she did was save Sora, he could of probably got himself out of those situations if he had his head in the game, I guess she was there because all the other villains in KH1 was there

 

When I first saw Maleficent I thought that she was gonna be a boss. Then I realized she was just someone to fill a hole.

 

Y'know I actually forget she was in KHII until I read this topic 0_0. I was hoping to smack her up with my Keyblade! They could have at least put her as a secret boss in KHII Final Mix. I think in order to put Pete in and give a motive for his actions, they had to include her in as a suitable person that Pete would listen to and/ or be scared of disobeying. But I don't know, that's just really trying to find a random excuse for her pathetic return. I suppose it showed that even though she was evil and completely messed up Riku's life in the first adventure, she could still redeem herself later on.

 

She was just unnecessary in KHII (IMO). She felt like a third wheel, sort of, (of a 14th wheel(?)) because the Organization were the only villains actually required for the game. I think she added something to the storyline that wasn't necessary and didn't make the game any more enjoyable.

She was probably included because Disney wanted one of their own villains in the game, or something.

 

It would have been cool to fight her again, sure. But I did like that they brought her back rather than having her completely gone.

 

I was thinking that the only purpose she really had was bringing back Oogie and ordering around Pete.

 

It's just NOT cool to see her NOT be the bad guy for once...

any way I agree with what you say her role might have been small but the nobodies and such left her with no option but to help sora reluctantly. It seems that she wanted them gone so it was a forced event. she did as you said wanted the territorial gains from the defeated nobodies. she was powerless (NoTE: remember master Yin Sid stated that all the heartless were not gone so some remained since the door to the dark was shut) this put a damper on the whole take over the worlds scheme. Pete had to appear somehow from Limbo (that could be an interesting world!) so malifacent (cant spell!) was a transport charector to bring him into the storyline. it seems like that to me. also in the end were the heartless were pouring into the world that never was she repeled them not only so sora could defeat the orginization but she could in essence gain her power back, but Repliku I think you hit the spot maybe she will return in the newest installments of the KH series..

 

You know in boxing, how you have a man barking shots to you, "RIGHT HOOK RIGHT HOOK!!!"
that's basically malificent to me.

 

It's quite simple.

Maleficent came back from the dead. Get revenge on Sora, Org. XIII interfered with her plans, wanted to claim Kingdom Hearts for herself, lost control of the Heartless, change of plans: use Sora and his friends to get rid of Org. XIII and Nobodies. Reclaim control of Heartless and rule The World That Never Was as the new "Forbidden Mountains".
