What do you see the glass as?

I also agree with TheMuffinMan. It depends on whether the glass is being filled or emptied. However, if you just happened upon this glass it would be an unknown quantity and you should be very afraid =]

I say it's half full if you fill it up that high.If it's full and you drink or leak some of the water out,it's half empty.

 

I say that the liquid is half-way there in the glass. Not exactly full, but not empty either. The realists answer, dears.

 

Depends on what's in the glass to me. If it's liquid medicine or something nasty, it's half full because I really don't want to finish it off. If it's beer or soda or something tasty, it's half empty because I'm sad it's almost gone.

Or I could twist it all the way around and say "It's just wet." :P

 

Ok, I would do one of two things:

1. Accurately measure the amount of water in the glass and find out if it really half full/empty

2. Look at it and go "Yep, that's a glass."
2a. Then go do something else, like posting this message.

It depends. If the glass was previously full, but someone came and drank out of the glass, or poured some of the liquid out, then the glass would be half empty because the volume of the liquid in the glass decreased. If however the glass began empty, but I started to fill it, the glass would then be half full because it the volume of the liquid in the glass increased.

So I guess that means that I overthink life, or that I'm simply a realist.

Neither really. I'll try to think about it, but I can't decide. Probably half-empty. It depends on what the cup is filled with...
I'm not to optimistic. I can be but I have a 50/50 personality, so I can never tell.

Metaphors aside, calling a glass "half-empty" has always sounded a little odd to me.

However, I wouldn't really consider myself much of an optimist. A realist, I guess.

Most of the time, I don't bother finding a lined up drink that is exactly half full/empty to judge. In the end, I just judge it on whether I put water in the glass, which would make it half-full, or if I was drinking from the glass, so it becomes half-empty. My mood never effects the outcome of what I say. I tend to think of it as a brainwashing maneuver to declaring whether someone is negative or positive and it's hardly a measure of that. So many people here prove the point when they say after that they are either positive or negative after saying which option they choose. Some of us though seem to just not care and aren't in any real 'mood' when we declare what we use regularly.

 

I have never, EVER seen some one break down a metaphor in that much depth.
