Okay, I've looked around, but there hasn't exactly been a topic SPECIFICALLY for what the English versions of Organization XIII actually say during battle. There's been one for the CoM members, but I just want to get some input for the KH2 members. And if there HAS been an exact thread like this, it didn't come up when I used the search option, so I apologize.

I try to listen to what these guys actually say, but it's hard for me to make out. I'm not talking about their entrance and defeat quotes. The one's in asterisks I'm REALLY curious about...

    Luxord:
    "A challenge, is it?"
    "Do you know the rules?"
"Look who's on top of the game!"
    "Scatter!"
    "Fold!"

    Saix:
    "Moon, shine down!"
**"Your execution." or "No exit."
"All shall be lost to you!"
    "Be gone!"
    "Move aside!"
"I want to see you die fighting."
    "Fool."
    "I misjudged you."

    Xaldin:
    "Wind, guard me!"
    "Here!"
    "Enough!"
    "Sora!"
    "Take this!"
** "Beware the ???? of despair!" *
    "What?!"

    Axel:
    "Burn baby!"
    "Get back!"
    "Take that!"
    "What's the problem?"
    "Okay!"
    "Won't forget this!"
    "Got it memorized?"

    Demyx:
"Come on! Kick to the beat!"
    "Gotcha now!"
    "Ain't it a blast?"
    "Dance, water, dance!"
    "Like it?"

    Xigbar:
    *"You betcha!"
    "Clever little sneak!"
    "Moving out!"
    **"Arm n' reload!"
    "'Kay, now we're talking!"
    "Take this!"
    "Roxas!"
    "Sora!"
**"Look what I ???? for ya!"
"Now, let's see how you dance!"

    Xemnas:
    "Guard!"
    "Be gone!"
    "Fire!"
    "Come closer..."
"There's no such thing as light."
    "Why don't you vanish?"
    "Could you spare a heart?"
    "Cursed fools!"
    "Mine!"
    "You shall go together!"

You missed quite a few (the ones in asterisks are the ones you're confused about):

    Luxord:

    "Cards!"
"I think not." (when losing to a card game)
"Sora!" (before surrounding Sora with cards)
    "Don't squander your time."
    "Look closely..."

    Saïx:

    **"No exit."

    Xaldin:

    "Come on..."
    "Winds!"

    Axel - First Battle:

"Hey, am I ringing any bells yet?"

    Axel - Second Battle:

    "Roxas!" or "Sora!"

    Demyx:

    "Uh, oh!"
    "Water!"
"Come on! Keep to the beat!"
    "Will you relax?"

    Xigbar:

    "Gotcha now!"
    "You clever little sneak..."
    **"Arms, reload!"
    "Heads up!"
    "Oh yeah?"
    **"You betcha!"
"You're putting me to sleep, bucko!"
    "So what d'ya think?

    Xemnas:

    "Kneel!"
    "Hearts are power."
    "Nothingness is eternal!"
"Sora, are you certain you can trust Riku?"
"Riku, are you sure you're not jealous of Sora?"
    "Embrace... Nothing!"
"Why do you despise the void?"
    "We shall go together."
    "Bind!"
    "Pierce!"

Wow, Xenmas plagerizes most of the Final Fantasy last bosses lines.

"Nothingness is eternal" "Embrace nothing" and "Why do you despise the Void" is from Mega X Death and The Void (FF9.)

Altima and Black Cloud said "There is no such thing as light"

  4. For some reason, I'm not fond of battle sayings -_-. When playing, I either just laugh because it sounds wack, or just want them to shut up for awhile. I have to admit though, a few are funny, like:

"You're putting me to sleep, bucko!"
    - W-T-F? xD

    "Got it memorized?"
    - Holy! Axel, is enough you say it outside of battles, but inside? What do they got to memorize, the fact that your kicking their a** or something? xDD

    "Hearts are power."
    "Nothingness is eternal!"

    - They're just pointless blabberings....

He sais that after he connects that spinning physical combo on you, the one where he slashes at you with both chakrams. I also think he sais it if he connects that attack you can use a reaction command to own him on.

Yeah, that line is overused. I like the CoM version better, "Commit that to memory."

Xemnas has two of the best lines.

"Sora, are you certain you can trust Riku?"
"Riku, are you sure you're not jealous of Sora?"

He's playing mind games as hes battleing you. He sais that when hes in that dragon thing, and your fling towards him.

  6. I actually like "Got it memorized?" better xP, is more closer to the Japanese canon, ignoring the constant saying of it. The whole phrase was more of a question (Got it memorized?), than a statement (Commit it to memory), so it was quite a small mistranslation, and they fixed it in KH2.

Axel's catchphrase in Japanese since the beginning is: "Kiyoku shita ka."

The "ka" at the end, in Japanese, it turns the sentence into a question. The "shita", makes it past tense (Disappointed. Tainted. Memorized). "Kiyoku" basically means "pure" or "clean", kind of like to understand, hence, "memorized".

Pointless lesson, but eh, I wanted to show why I like it ^^;.

And you're right, while others are pointless (why say people's name in battle?), at least Xemnas uses those to egg the fight on and taunt his opponents, which should be the only battle cries that should be in the game, not random comments.

Ok, but I noticed in anime there is a LOT of dialogue in battle sequences. More talking that actual fighting. I think video games reflect that.

The three lines that have me rackiing my brains...

The three lines that really bug me, though, are two of Xigbar's and one of Xaldin's.

What exactly does he say right before using Ultima Shot? "Look what I ???? for ya!" You know, the one right before he says "Now. Let's see how you dance!"

And the other one. When he reloads, does he really say, "Arms, reload!"? I could swear he says something else before "reload..."

As for Xaldin, what's he say when he uses that dragon of his? "Beware the ??? of despair!" Is he saying "face of despair" or "fangs of despair?"

I always thought Xigbar said, "Gotta reload." The other line, the only thing that would make sence is "Look what I got for you."

Xaldin probably said "fangs" since he sais that whle busting out with a dragon.

  10. I'll answer that. Aaaand, yes, Xigbar does actually say, "Arms, reload!" xP, is that he says it too quickly, so it sounds odd sometimes.

I'm not sure about the first Xigbar one you gave, since I think I need to hear it myself, but could the missing word be "Look what I got for ya!". I don't know what else could be inserted that made sense.

As for Xaldin's, what he says is: "Beware the winds of despair!"

I thought most of the dialogue in battle scenes in animé were the characters talking to themselves, like thinking what to do and what attack to use, you know, analyzing and planning in their mind, only we hear it. If they ever talk, I think is to get the other guy/girl pissed, taunt, or simply say that something that cathes the opponent's attention.

If they're trying to talk a friend out of something, you bet there's going to be speaking.

Then again, I never watch a lot of action based animé.

For Xigbar, that middle part has a long "a" sound in there. It's like "Look what I came for ya!", but that doesn't make any sense.

As for Xaldin, you can hear him say something that starts with "fa" (long "a"). I know the move is called "Winds of Despair" but that doesn't sound like what he says. I can't hear anything that sounds like "wind" anywhere in that line. Maybe he's saying "Beware the fangs and despair!"?

I'm going through YouTube videos to review them...

I remember a lot of mumbo jumbo such as:

    ------------------------------------------------
"You cannot, stop my ultimate attack!" then thinking

Ultimate attack, i better get ready, its probably powerful "Bring it on!"

"Oh, so you are prepared to DIE!!! AGH!" then like a 5 minute grunt fest. As if whoever grunts the "manlyest" wins, with thinking in between. Wow, this guy is strong, I dont know if I can take much more

"AHA! Looks like I am strong enough!"

    "What how could you! AGH!"

Then the hero does something cheesy, like flick the bad guy, and wins.
    ------------------------------------------------

At least, thats what DBZ does in every episode.

  13. I could've sworn it said "winds" o.O, but I guess I haven't played it enough, or looked for it on YouTube. If you can't understand it, I'll probably try myself, since I'm curious now :o.

And ICS:P....is DBZ xDD. Nuff' said.

Im think that xaldins line is "wear/beware the face of despair", (not sure about the first word.)
For xigbar, i thought he said "Im gonna dance for you"

Edit: at gamefaqs.com someone seems to have worked out a list... while that is no proof that everyone this guy wrote is correct hes propably put some work into it.

Hm, yes.. Both the original first post of the thread and Void's link has some good quotes. I remember Axel's "Don't make me mad!" cause he usually gives me a good smack about then. Gotta love Xigbar's "Gotcha now!" <3

    Hi!

Personally, in video games I always love it when you are in a battle and the one who you are fighting talks to you! I makes the fight more intersting, than a fight that is mute.

Xaldin's said: 'Wear the face of despair'. and you forgot 'There's No Fun In This!'

    Xigbar's surfer-accent damming line:
    "COWABUNGA!"

    Luxord's start battle line:
"The loser is whoever is the first to run out of time."
Something along those lines...I consider that a battle quote because he has a very passive/specialized battle.

As for the "speak outloud during battles"...depending on the animation company and if it's based off anything as well as the "target audience"...they will talk during battle. Sometimes the talking is to clarify an opponent's ability, this is usually used in shonen manga/anime (ie: Naruto, Bleach, etc.) to help the much younger audience understand. (Note that in Japan it's aimed at a younger group than it is here.)

However some examples of animes with fightscenes with limited to no dialogue would be series such as Ghost in the Shell, Samurai Champaloo, Darker Than Black, and Persona -Trinity Soul- (among others of course). Hopefully this will help you understand why now.
