I know Jade Rhade made a tread about material arts before.
But that was about you studied material arts.

Now I am asking what degree you have in what art?
and how long is it until you get to try out for a higher belt?

    Me?
I am soon to be 3 strip brown(3.kyu) in karate.
I am pretty sure I will manage to go up to that degree.
(Currently out this month I am purple(4.kyu) not for long(hopefully)).

The style I train is Okinawa kenpo karate

I was at Blue (third highest) in American Karate, until I quit after I moved.

It goes: White, white stripe, purple, purple stripe, green, green stripe, blue, brown, black. You can only get black if you are 18 and highly skilled...

Wow , that's waaaay different than the way we have or the style I train is.
It goes like this : white,yellow,orange,green,blue,purple,brown3,brown2,brown1 and the it's 10 black ones.

You have to be 13 to have brown and you need to have some pretty good skills and know the basics.
for 1brown you hade to be really good.

For black you need to be 16 and high skilled and be able to control your feelings like stress under presure.

You were pretty high graded I see ;D

I wanted to learn it but i never got the chance, although my friends did. They didn't like it though cause they thought the teacher was crap & they weren't learning much.

You sure that's legal? o.O I think it's admirable to get a that high belt when you are at that age but it is weird that someone that small have one.
Is it just me or can you get high degrees in takwondo no matter age?
Your brothe ris seven and have black and Darknesskingdom is 15 and have black.
I have to get 16 before I can even be allowed to get black x3

Oh, you are missing something .
You know it sucks with trainers like that but if you stick with it you learn something after some time.
In material arts you have to keep going for a while before you actually get a good body control and that stuff (:.

You are joking right? that absurd , to pass a small kid like that on to a that respectable degree. Unless he is uber special or something.
I have ask Jonathan(DK) about this.
But how come your brother have such a good degree and you did not even start training? you did not get inspired or something?

I dont remember. I played soccer at teh time. Now i do gymnastics and so i dont know. He was a black belt until we moved and then he couldnt find a good place to practice so he was forced to quit. He could still probably break a board with his hands and feet. I couldnt do that without seriously ingurining my self....

That's cool one of my friends do that, I've tried a time or two myself. It's pretty fun. But the real thing starts when you get a little high degree when you can do full contact. I have heard from my friend that their graduation to new belts is pretty rough. And she doesn't have such a high belt xD.

Oh, okay good for you. Err.. did he just quit? that's weird you can train by yourself ya know and when he have a high belt like that it's something he should know , even when you train alone you learn new stuff ^^But yeah it's his loss ;p

Okay, sounds fun I find material arts interesting (:(also the fact that almost every person write tae-kwon-do different xD)

I am going to try to get 3 brown this month O.O first I have to to a test graduation and then I have to do the real thing ;D

I'm not at liberty to discuss my ranking but I will anyways I'm I think 9th or 8th kyu. But whatever in my class I always have to fight this one like 30 yr black belt that joined from another school and he is some garbage I always win and I've never even been in a real fight. And I don't want to offend anybody but I don't think american karate is all that good (it's what I take-sort of.) Most of what I learned is from my dad (he grew up in an inner city area). I live in a suburb so of course no one can fight well but still it just seems like a scam at times. I take it for exercise mostly.

You have 7 or 8 kyu and you take down a black belt? how that possible there are severeal reason that people get a black belt and that there are many degrees in between yellow and orange to black. It's not something I easily belive, sorry.
And you can't people garbage just because of a reason like that!.
You have never been in a real fight? well I have and you should look forward to it ^^ it's pretty fun n_n.
And you can't say that american karate is all that is good just because you do it.
If that's the thing you do , how do you know that everything else is not as good as american karate ? you havn't tried everything. So that's something you can say after you have tried many material arts.
Well good for you that you can learn from him (:
Karate is to exercise and get sharper sences and lots of other stuff.
