In the Dissidia series we have seen many heroes and villans have been added. We know that there were other cycles so who do you think should be in those cycles? Personally I think they should have Zack, Noctis, Vincent, or even Ceodore.
Seymour. I think he's more of Xs main villain than Ject (sorry, don't know how to spell that). Ject wad the final boss, but Seymour was the one they fought all the time.
Definitely more NES/SNES era. No more from VII, as much as I love it other characters need to be remembered. I'd say more from VIII and IX wouldn't be bad, but there's a ton of characters they could use from II-IV. Though I believe Nomura said he's not making another Dissidia, so it's a bit of a moot point now.
That doesn't mean there won't be another Dissidia. There was something I read ages ago about Dissidia ending "as we know it" or something and that there might be a console game if there was enough interest in it. ...At least that last bit I'm sure I've read in one interview. Anyways, I'd personally love to see spinoff characters in Dissidia. As my current theme suggests...I'd obviously love to see Machina in Dissidia. >>
Balthier. Simply because his dialogue would(hopefully) be glorious as it was in XII. And of course, Auron. >>
My personal preferences would be the following characters: Leon - Final Fantasy II Yang Fang Leiden - Final Fantasy IV Locke Cole - Final Fantasy VI Shadow - Final Fantasy VI Vincent Valentine - Final Fantasy VII Genesis Rhapsodos - Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core Weiss the Immaculate - Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus Zack Fair - Final Fantasy VII Zell Dincht - Final Fantasy VIII Auron - Final Fantasy X Rikku - Final Fantasy X Paine - Final Fantasy X-2 Lion - Final Fantasy XI Reks - Final Fantasy XII Princess Ashelia B'nargin Dalmasca - Final Fantasy XII Oerba Yun Fang - Final Fantasy XIII Noctis Lucis Caelum - Final Fantasy versus XIII I find all of these characters to be very dynamic and would suit the Dissidia series quite well. I would love to see how they would interact with one another. xD
I don't know about Rikku or Pain, but having Weiss would be cool. But I think we would need Zack for Genesis. I mean, how can you have Genesis without Zack? And having Reks would be neat I suppose, but what about Basch? I think he should be in. And Fang would be cool, but I think others would probably want Snow or Hope more.
Cloud has Zack's fighting style. Unless any future Dissidia title removes Cloud to stick in Zack, it's probably not going to happen. What weapon would Zack use anyways? A regular sword? This isn't Kingdom Hearts, it wouldn't be exactly "cool" if Zack had a regular sword while Cloud had the Buster Sword. In the end it just wouldn't work out unless people are satisfied with having a character with the same playstyle as Cloud. Zack shouldn't play differently than Cloud. Also, Nomura himself said he wanted Sazh in over Lightning but obviously the poster girl had to get in over the better character. >>

yeah, there's sazh as well, but we already have Laguna. I mean, do we really want to people that use guns? I think one would be enough
