Sometimes, we see it in other people and dislike it. There’s a repulsive nature about it. Or it’s a quality someone we truly admire possesses. But the truth is, it’s apart of our Shadow which is really just an undiscovered part of ourselves.

What are your thoughts on it? Do you think it exists? If you do, what do you think your Shadow is like? If you don’t, why not?

If my shadow exists, it's only part of one's attitude. Personaly, I think it's plausibe, but it would just be an easier way to explain theevil and repulsive thoughts and actions we do. Also, if it does exist, it's evil, dark minded, enjoys people misfortune, etc.

I wouldn't call it a shadow, it just sounds like one of those "Men steal womens wind" bullcrap. But I do believe something like it exists, I call it unconcious thought, a mass of things we learn, know and hide in the back of our minds giving us a concious reaction we couldn't expect at certain times.

it would be kind, caring and friendly...

If I have a shadow, then it has almost taken me over :D
I think there is always a darker side of us, that does what it has to, to survive. If that is a shadow, then everyone has one. If its something else, then whatever. There is some part of us that has no scruples, that would do anything, just to live.

I've created a story about this once...I lost it though. So yeah, I have been thinking about it for a long time.

I believe it exists, perhaps not exactly as Jung described it but something comparable to it at least. I don't claim to be sure what mine looks like, but I can picture it (if it is what I think it is).
Unfortunately, it is none of your business. :)

The Shadow isn't necessarily malevolent in nature, I think. It is rather...infantile. Its features and traits are not yet fully developed and hence it shows flaws. Flowers who can't bloom are never beautiful. Here it is the same.

It's kind of intriguing actually. As if it was some form of natural selection, your character traits may be divided in the dominant ones that you expose to yourself and to other people, and the recessive ones that are hidden and muffled until further notice.
How is it decided which dominate your personality in the end? Why are some aspects allowed to be shown and some are not?

Can your Shadow contradict your surface personality? Think of it this way.
Everyone has a personal reaction (or set of reactions) to every situation. Everything is preset. Circumstances determine your mood, and the exact same circumstances will always result in the exact same reaction by you.
So is the Shadow the collection of the undiscovered? Or is it the list of "alternative answers", your other possibilities, the options you never selected?

The way I see it, it is both. They are embryonic feelings, they are the way you're headed to and also the ways that you'll never take.
Maybe we should all try to come to terms with the Shadow as the darker self. Then again, maybe it is a Shadow because you cannot.

Your shadow exists. It states up there that it's a repressed or undeveloped part of you. It could be good or bad. It's very simple and easy to understand actually...I think my "shadow" would just be dedicated or something...I'm normally lazy...>>
The shadow is just a name or term...

Well, I always thought the shadow is the concept of your soul and such.
But if you put it that way....then my shadow would possibly be my "hidden power" if that makes sense. @__@

The subconscious mind is a very interesting thing. The way that quote talks about it reminds me of the SCARECROW concept in society in regards to people and their existences.

I think I do agree that there are attributes of us that are hidden and repressed in our subconscious, parts of us that we want to be there, and parts that we don't, stuff like that. I'm curious about that now. lol

I think you're misrepresenting the concept of the shadow of this thread. It's using "shadow" as an allegory of a projection of our subconscious and hidden behavioral traits. Not the actual shadow, which is a projection of a 3D object (us) into a 2D world (shadow). Hence why it is elongated and stretched and distorted.

In that case that would make us the light and our shadow is our opposite side for us who are 'good' but for those who are 'bad' I would say it was the other way round, meaning those in the middle are twilight.

I think it would exist, I mean, why not? When I got into a fight a long time ago I couldn't even remembering beating the girl who started it all up. According to everyone I did get her pretty well and she did leave after that, I didn't remember a thing except turning around after she pushed me and going to hit her.
I don't know what my Shadow would be, a lot has changed since that fight and I have a personality for every person, I don't know what my Shadow side would be.

Of course i believe it.Our shadow is a representation of that which we bury within ourselves, the things we refuse to ecknowledge or that we choose to keep far from yourself.Sometimes its the inhumanity inside ourselves others its that humanity that we reject. In some it's that hope that struggles to control them in others its the chance of no hope at all.
