Hey, I have to say. If something seems too good to be true, it isn´t true. I´ve learned this many times.

So I´ve been thinking... I find nothing bad in Obama... So what´s the catch??

He cant be like that. So tell about his bad sides. Sure he has some?

I really feel strongly that he will do an excellent job. I know it's just a delusion, since he's bound to make mistakes, but right now he seems perfect in my eyes XD Let's just hope that he isn't too good to be true, and that his Presidency won't be cut short. We may have gotten lucky this time, which is something that the world desperately needs right now.

I really don't understand why a lot of people don't like him, I mean, his plans aren't anything particularly radical, and he hasn't made any bad decisions yet.

    And is anybody keeping track of the number of repeat topics? =_=;

Uhm, I like Obama. He is more European if you know what I mean. He seems to think with many views not just the American point of view.

But he cant be perfect and he isnt. So what could be bad with him? It´s suspicious.

I don't very much care for your American generalization, even though I'm not a fan of a lot of Americans either >_>; But that's another issue.

As I've said, right now, I don't see anything bad about him; he's intelligent, charismatic, and has his morals in the right place (or at least, his morals are aligned with mine). I don't think he'll be perfect, but I do believe he will be a good thing for the world. We shouldn't worry about what might be bad about him, simply because he seems "too good to be true" right now. We'll cross that road when we get to it. What's important is that we respect him, and not follow everything he says blindly, on the off chance that he starts doing something corrupt. And if we're lucky, maybe we've just found a genuinely good, admirable person with no significant flaws in his judgment.

I hope he doesnt get killed. I really like his mental appearance.

Say what you say, but the chances of someone try to kill him are high.

Yes, I'm very aware of this. I am actually pretty afraid of this happening. Technology and security has improved since Kennedy, but some people are just plain out of their minds and determined to accomplish their sick goals. Let's just hope that the Secret Service is prepared.

Now that I think of it, I can't find anything bad about him. That's kinda scary...

If something happens to Obama, does Biden take his place? Please, not Palin xD

Yup. No one is perfect, but Obama seems like a Messiah sometimes, hehe.

It is only natural that some people will be annoyed that he became President. After all some people follow different views and have different political opinions, Obama winning means that McCain didn't and obviously McCain supporters are not going to be best pleased at that.

Every new President, or heck any new head of any country/state/etc will face some controversy when they come to power. It is to be expected. As for talks of assassination, well let's face it :/ it isn't exactly a rare concept when dealing with people in power.

It is all about change, people are having to adjust and start to adapt to a new way.

If I could give some advice to assassins, I would say that killing Obama makes Obama look like a saint, so it doesnt support their values. Obama isnt even technically black so KKK can shut their mouth hehe. He is half white too, so I can call him white :---D

USA´s presidency is only 4 years. Even if Obama makes thing better, after 4 years lets say Sarah Palin ruins all the hard work, lol. I just read that Palin might want to be president in 2012. What a scary thought.

Obama is a human being and therefore would be flawed. I can tell he's worked on himself though to try to be a decent person, especially in how calm and yet assertive he is. He also seems quite tolerant and accepting of views that differ from his own, and in that, he's refreshing.

However, he is a politician and represents Democrats. As a senator, and now the president elect, he would have had to represent other Democrats on things even if he personally did not necessarily agree to the circumstances. I.e. say a group of Democrats wants to see something happen with a bill in the senate and he personally does not like it, but because he is representing the group that does, he must present it as he is speaking for that group. Being a representative of others means you speak for more than just yourself so sometimes it can compromise your singular view. Also, being a senator and a lawyer formerly, to make some deals with what you want to see happen, he may have had to make compromises to push things he too believed in, letting in some bad things to allow that positive thing to pass, because the senate makes deals at times. What I mean by that is say you want a law to pass about pharmacies lowering prices for the economic poor. You may also have to have some attachment added that benefits the pharmacies in some way such as another business will want some attention that has to do with pharmacies so they make money another way. It may not be wanted but the bill won't pass another way.

So, I would say at times he's probably had to make compromises and agreements he might not want to get other things passed because every politician has to. I do think though he's a good guy in general and lately there have been a lot of complaints on extra benefit things to lobbyists being tossed in bills, so perhaps this sort of thing will be cut down more. Everyone has agendas though so we can expect he will have to negotiate to make some people happy that at times the rest of us would probably say they don't deserve it. Some of the senate though is relatively well bought out by lobbyists which is one of the reasons I actually liked Obama. Much of his campaign revolved around regular people donating to his campaign and not so many lobbyists could get into it, so he only owes us regular folks the favors for it. He's relatively more free to make decisions. However, he will have to still deal with a senate and congress that does have others who do their whole jobs based on what corps want so it's going to be interesting.

If something did happen, and I really hope not, Biden would take his place. Palin would not even be considered, regardless of if something happened to even Biden too. She's done (thank the stars). I do wish though that people wouldn't keep thinking that Obama is going to be assassinated. I'm sure the secret service is going to do its job. It would be a rather foolish thing for someone to try to assassinate him because it will only make others stronger in opinion that racism is a very stupid thing and even 'deadly' and so racism things would really be cracked down on. Racists can learn to die out naturally or by force since more of us now are not so foolish so assassination attempts on Obama would only make things worse for them. Every president, as I've said before, is a big target. We only ever hear about the attempts on a president if they actually are out in the open. It wouldn't surprise me if GWB with his lower than low ratings, had attempts made on him and we are just oblivious.

I see it possible to happen. If some group is planning on it, the secret service may not be enough, because Obama is in places where are many many people around.

I wonder how many bodyguards does the president have. And I wonder how many times some people actually tried to assasinate Bush. And I dont mean threats, because every celebrity might get them, but I mean actual operations where they were ready to kill him.

The negatives of Obama? Sure. This is my opinon.

    1. Lack of experience
    2. Lack of confidence (He even said himself he can't sleep at night with the thought of being elected)
    3. Poor foreign relations
    4. No offshore drilling
    5. His race. (Even if he's not 100% black, a lot of people don't want a mixed race in office which makes his saftey a concern.)
    6. You won't see a tax cut, I can almost guarantee that.
    7. An energy plan that excedes two full terms, more then he could moderate.
    8. Uncertainty about Iraq, risky plans of withdrawal.
    9. Threatening to invade countries that will not cooraporate.
    10. Misleading speeches.

There's a few more, but I'd rather not list them because they are more of a personal thing.

He's going to pull out of Iraq within 18 months, but send more troops to Afganistan and possibly Pakistan if they do not "cooraperate" in his hunt for al-Qaeda. So all he would be doing is shifting where the war is being fought.

I think he'd be a great president. Much better than Bush.
But there are alot of racists and republicans still out there, so they might have a new election or something.

ok, i'm going to correct you the NICE way before someone comes here and comes down on you hard.

there are ALWAYS going to be Republicans out there, they are part of the government, they are a legal part of government, it seems like you have a misconception of what Republicans are.

anyways, the racists and Republicans do NOT have the power to cause a new election. in fact, a new election will NOT happen until 2012. even if someone manages to kill Obama, Joe Biden will become President and unless he dies as well, another election won't happen.

Um... yeah, you don't seem to know much about Republicans. I'll leave with what Evilman said and won't comment, or I'll be here all night.

Well...if both the President and the Vice President die, the Speaker of the House of Representatives assumes the position. After the Speaker, the Presidency goes to the Speaker Pro Tempore of the Senate, the Secretary of State and then down the line to various officials in the President’s cabinet. This was established in the Presidential Succession Act of 1947 and the 25th Amendment to the US Constitution. There is no new election except every 4 years.

    /regret statement

But seriously, you folks gotta give him a chance.
