Well... I feel good about myself, other than immense pain.

    I stopped a mugging.
At the cost of a bloody nose and a fat lip.
    Yay me.

    I have to say though...
Train conductors are fricking useless, they are staff and they do jack sh*t. What on earth are they paid for?
Thank god me and another guy were there to help the poor victim (he was in such a state... I mean... Jesus Christ it was bad, but the guy was so grateful afterwards that we at least managed to do something).
Not that I was looking for a punch up past midnight, but hey... I guess sh*t happens.

Anyway... when I got home, the usual was expected. My mum went ballistic at the sight of me.
She called me an idiot for getting involved etc, but I have to ask... what would you have done?
For me, I just couldn't sit there and do nothing while some poor sod was being beaten to a pulp, all for the sake of his phone and a fiver. I mean, I know it sounds like some stupid hero crap from something like that comic Kickass, and people may say it's easy to do something, but after going through that, I know it isn't that easy... And yet I feel that I can at least be proud of myself. I don't regret my actions even if my mum says I'm a dumbass for doing such a thing.

Part of me has to wonder why I'm even writing about this... but after that, I feel I've just gotta say something to get it all off my chest.
Sorry for the random vent session KHV, but you are my go to guys for this stuff. lol

I think folk now-a-days let too much happen that within their power to stop. It's great that you helped that guy but sometimes it's the wrong thing to do unless you have backup, which you did thankfully, or you're sure you can handle the situation. Cause you never know what the assailant has on him. If he pulls a knife out on you then it's not worth the guys phone and fiver. But it's good that you weren't hurt too badly.

Well the thing is, they did the usual shot of threatening to stab.
But I know some nasty chavs who live in my area (I don't associate with them myself of course, but when you've lived here ten years, you learn things.). And anyway when they threaten to stab, they wave the knife in front of your face for good measure to prove that they can if they want to.
These guys didn't do that, (although they did threaten to bottle us, and yes... they did have bottles.)
But yeah, it's because of that that I could tell they weren't armed knife wise.

i applaud you for helping a guy out but yeah be careful!!! we wouldn't want anything to happen to you. and really, most people don't help when they see something going on because they figure someone else is going to do something and in the end no one ends of doing anything and it's too late. it's basic human psychology and I've learned it constantly in every single one of my courses. it's called the bystander effect but at least you helped the guy out, which he was grateful for as you said.

Don't listen to your mother, she was just worried about you. She must've been really worried. Moms and all that.

Glad you are some of the people out there that act recklessly, but for the greater good. (as long as it's not too stupid lol)

If I were in that situation, I would have tried to help as much as I could, I'm not the kind of person who just stands idly by while an innocent is getting the crap kicked out of them.

You should become some kind of super hero...The Bushy Brow!!!

I'm so proud of you for doing something like that. c:

Make sure you get some rest, though. You certainly deserve it.

honestly, unless the guy had a knife or gun or something, I probably would have helped out, even with how pathetic I am. I can't stand idlely by while someone gets mugged. But were people just watching?
And I'm just wondering, couldn't this thread also have done in the Discussion?

And hence forth you were known as Bushy Man.
I think you are one brave dude, going out of your way and risking your skin for a stranger. Very admirable.

I'm glad that you were able to so calmly assess your situation and save that guy, but I can't really say I'm proud or that I'd suggest you do it again. You don't get lucky every time. Good work this time.

You are a dumbass for this, but it's to be expected. Good job for what you did bro, but don't forget that just because you can handle yourself doesn't mean you can handle everybody.
Honestly, I'd have done the same thing, I won't lie, as much of a coward as I am.
Whatever, I'm just glad you're alright.

Live like a coward, live with regret.
It's come down to it before and I have both been a coward and been a 'hero'. I regret being a coward more , but some days i'm up for helping out, other days i'm not. I just do the best when I can.

I hope after you kicked his ass you shouted 'KHV represnt, b!tch!' You need a tag line.

Good on you :) It takes bravery to do what you did. Just think how grateful the guy you saved is as well. But yes I agree with what others are saying. I mean I hope it's not too often you come across a mugging like that but if it is, make sure you don't get in too much out of your depth. A phone and a fiver isn't worth broken bones and hospital.

Well done! I can't say exactly what I'd do as I've never been in that situation, I know, however, that if I walked away without doing anything the guilt would hunt me down and haunt me until I did somethnig to make up for it. It's hard to say as I wouldn't be sure as what to say or do in order to stop them...

I would have done the same, but might have grabbed a weapon of sorts. You did a good thing. Good work.

Don't you think he would've grabbed something had there been anything laying around?

I probably would have shouted to them that I was calling the police (and they'd probably steal my phone before I could even dial the number. derp), but there's no way I would just ignore it.

Don't threaten them with police if they are on a train. They know they'd likely not be caught, and that you've pissed them off by doing that. Not advisable on a train.
