jade continued to walk down the street but weaved in and out of wreckage and vehicles to help keep herself hidden, she didn't want to be an obvious target.
now where can i find ammo? damn it!
she tripped over something in the road.
"well what the hell?"
jade looked down.
"oh hey....a pistol."
she checked it to make sure there was ammo inside.
"four shots...well this won't last long, but it should be enough to get me by until i can find some real ammo for my machine gun."
jade smiled proudly.

brooks walked over to the couch and knelt down on the carpet next to his sister.
"what's up emma?"

emma rolled over and rubbed the sleep out of her eyes.
"mmm...how long have you been staring out that window?"

 

Havok laughed slightly when he saw Jade trip. He covered his mouth. "What was that I just did right now?" He shook his head and brushed it off.

 

jade heard laughter in the background.
"who's there? show yourself."
she stood in the exact spot spinning around and holding her gun out as she did so.

 

"You must have some hearing there." Havok jump down from one of the buildings and landed on a car. "Hey."

 

jade took one hand off of the gun and put it on her chest, heaving a huge sigh of relief.
"yeah...uh...i've learned to highten my senses in a way. ya' know, safe'a that way."
she walked over to havok.
"stalking me??"

brooks stared down at his little sister.
"awhile i suppose. i'm going to have to leave soon. we need more resources."

emma bolted upright.
"please let me come with brooks, please?!"
she begged with pleading eyes.

"you know as well as i do how unsafe it is for you to come with me emmaline."

 

Havok rolled his eyes. "Pfft. You wish. I just thought that you didn't want to get killed. Traveling on your own with such little ammo is a death sentence."

 

jade chuckled.
"are you trying to be my 'knight in shining armor' or something?"
she pointed the gun barrel down towards the ground.

emma slumped down in the couch poutingly, she knew that once brooks called her emmaline instead of emma that she had lost.
"fine. i'll sit here and wait for you to get back."

brooks kissed her forehead.
"i'll be back before you know it."
he then slipped out through a passageway in the wall.
it was less conspicuous then a front door.

 

"Tsk. Whatever you say." Havok jumped down from the car. "Where are you going anyway?"

 

jade looked at him like he was an idiot.
"to get ammo. duh..."

once brooks had gotten outside he decided to take a leisurely stroll.
it's nice to see the light of day every once in awhile.
he kept his shotgun close, but walked around pretty relaxed.
hmm...where should i loot this time? wal*mart sounds good.

 

Havok glared. "Obviously I know that. I guess you're to dim-witted to understand that I was asking where you're traveling to?"

 

jade rolled her eyes.
"new yawk. that's where i'm from. my whole class came to dc on a trip. my best friend is missing and i want to go home to my family. unfortunately the quarantine is making that difficult and i don't exactly wanna leave anyways until i find my friend."

 

Havok nodded. "That's not such a far travel."

 

"it's like four states. i just wish i could make a call. i just wanna tell my parents i'm all right, but i don't if it's the quarantine or what because i call anywhere's out of dc. but if i want to call like that resturaunt right there i can. it's so weird."
jade took her phone out and stared at it.
"what good are you doing me?"

 

Havok ignored the question and put his finger up. "Shhh...I hear something."

 

jade put her phone away and the looked around studying the scenery.
"what is it?"

brooks heard a noice way off the distance but didn't think it was close enough to have anything to do with him.
"things are heating up. i suppose, it's about that time of day."

 

Havok quickly pushed her down and shot a zombie that was going to attack her. "Damn baastards."

 

jade lay still and stared straight forward, looking for feet and legs from underneath the car.
"we should move."

brooks heard gun fire.
"yeaup...that time afterall."
he saw a zombie coming up from the side and grabbed his shotgun from his back and whipped around to shoot it.
BANG!

 

"Yeah." Havok pulled her up and started running.

 

jade chased after him.
she kept her gun out to shoot, but didn't want to actually fire since there were only four bullets in it.
"we need to find shelter!"

brooks started to run into the grocery store he saw across the street.
it's small so maybe there wont be too many zombies in there. i can kill them all and then hide out for a little bit.
he ran inside.

 

Havok kept his eyes open in search for a safe place. Grabbing Jade's hand, he pulled her into a small guys store, closing the door behind them. "What luck, huh?"
