Wartime Reverie

This time Mixt really did let out a chuckle "Not much gets past you does it? Truly, yours is a position well earned. We've got a deal" Tapping one of the circles in his notebook with the back of his pencil, it transformed into an elegant pen and Mixt signed both documents with it.

 

As soon as the documents were signed they transformed, the citizenship one turned into a passport like object and the second turned into a Royal Emblem similar to the Emperor's one. "Welcome to the family son" the Emperor said to Mixt, almost laughing as he opened the classroom door "You are now immune to anything they try and charge you with, oh and now your a prince" the Emperor said as he left the room.

 

"That makes sense actually," Allen watched Juno as she walked by, "this is supposed to be one of Janina's best academies right? So it probably isn't going over well with anyone. Think about it," Allen stood up too, "a student at one of a nation's star academies - an academy which is given nothing but praise publicly- produces a murderer. Not only that, but this murderer is also one of the hardest working students at the academy. It's a PR nightmare; Mixt makes the academy look bad, and then because the academy looks bad so does Janina."

 

Mixt pocketed his new belongings and moved to the hall, but he found himself walking aimlessly. This all just felt so surreal. This morning he was pretty sure he was going to spend a long time in a cage, assuming they decided not to execute him. Now, he had diplomatic immunity and was a prince of the opposing nation to boot. The two greatest extremes of his life within 24 hours. Things were changing big time for Mixt, and he liked it.

 

The Emperor did not follow Mixt, instead he went to the library, he went straight for a very old book called 'The Four Prophetic Stations' and left the Library, the librarian tried to stay him but he ignored him and simple left the academy, his work was done here.

Robert left his room, he passed Phisoxa and Allen, he didn't acknowledge them as he went to go get a meal.

 

" Looks like this school might as well be going to hell.. and I'm not even finished with my schooling yet... I just hope they don't close it down because it's been tagged as unsafe...." Phisoxa said with a soft sigh. She looked extremely worried because if this school closed she had no place to go to. Her master had gone missing for several days and she wasn't sure where he had gone so she was screwed.

 

Allen didn't like the idea of the academy closing either, he had spent his whole life moving around before coming to this school and he liked having a place he could actually think of as home. "I don't think they'll close it down. At least they shouldn't, one bad thing happening here doesn't necessarily mean it's too dangerous too keep open. But people who're in charge of things are usually idiots so who knows." He looked at the girls' bathroom. "Hey when's your friend coming out? It's getting late."

 

Mixt continued down the hallway, until he saw Phisoxa and Allen in the distance and he came to a stop. What were the odds of them both being this close to his room? It probably wasn't on purpose given that they weren't immediately outside the room. Then Mixt realized that he stopped and continued his walk. Afterall, what did he care what they thought of him?

 

" Shes probably still drying her hair knowing her... you shouldn't worry..." Phisoxa said with a soft sigh as her eyes fell on the appearance of Mixt in the hallway. Her eyes widened in shock and she backed away a little, unsure on what to do. She then made a bold move and followed after him. " Hey, where are you going ?!"

 

"I'm taking a walk. Need to clear my head, get things straightened out. It's been an eventful couple of days here. Besides, it's just so peaceful at night. What about you? What are you up to tonight?" Mixt responded as if it was generic small talk. He knew full well it wasn't, but he didn't care to be as serious as she wanted. Mixt wasn't sure if anything could bring down his mood today.

 

" Why are they allowing you to walk around freely? You are a convicted criminal Mixt !!" Phisoxa shouted at him as she caught up to him. She didn't feel right letting a murderer just walk off, not matter what excuse he had.

 

Allen looked back at the bathroom where Phisoxa's friend was, then back at Phisoxa herself. At first he was unsure of what to do; Phisoxa's friend could very well be expecting her to be there when she came out, and he thought maybe he should wait for her and explain where Phisoxa went. This feeling was quickly overpowered, however, by a concern for Phisoxa's safety at the idea of her being alone alone at night with a murderer. He also realized this was his chance to ask Mixt about what happened and he quickly followed after the two "Shouldn't you be locked up?" Now that he was no longer alone with Phisoxa he went back to playing it cool.

 

"Lets just say I got some great legal help." Mixt said, dismissing the accusations. "What's it to you? I'm not attacking anyone now, and I bet neither of you could tell me who the kid yesterday was. So if there is no score to settle you might as well run off and play. Though isn't it past your bed times?"

 

Phisoxa was surprised by Mixt's answer and clinched her fist in anger as a result. " I don't care if I didn't know the guy, you can't just get a get out of jail free card because a big man from up top bails you out damn it !!" Phisoxa said as she walked over and grabbed him by the arm by mistake out of her own anger.

 

Allen was pissed off by Mixt's comment about not knowing who the victim was, mostly by the truth in it, and he let it show a little in that he stepped closer to Mixt and postured himself somewhat threateningly. "Why does it matter if we didn't know him? somebody did. For all you know you could've taken away someone's whole world when you killed that boy," Allen thought about what it would be like if someone killed Jen. "But you don't even care do you?" His arm twitched as he resisted the urge to punch Mixt in the face. He remembered his curiosity though and was able to calm himself enough to ask " Why? Why did you kill that boy?"

 

Mixt stopped walking when she grabbed him, and turned around. "I can. And I did. That is just the way this works." Then turning to face to face Allen Mixt looked him square in the eyes for a couple seconds before shaking his head. You wouldn't understand, you don't have it in you. But if you must know, it was because he was in my way. He made himself an obstacle and I cut my path. It is one's own job to keep themselves alive. You eat, you sleep, you train; it isn't my fault if he couldn't manage."

 

Mixt's responses, both to himself and to Phisoxa, as well as the thought of Jen dying, caused Allen's anger to intensify to the point where it was all he could do not to attack Mixt. "IN YOUR WAY! YOU KILLED HIM BECAUSE HE WAS IN YOUR WAY!" Allen got in Mixt's face as he shouted at him. "YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW HIS NAME, YOU TOOK HIM OUT WITH NO EFFORT WHATSOEVER, HIS DEATH HAD ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH WHAT YOU WERE DOING AT THE TIME, BUT YOU KILLED HIM BECAUSE HE WAS IN YOUR WAY!" Allen took a moment to compose himself. "It's not your job to stay alive. It's the job of you and every person who's ever born to do what they can to make the world better. And FYI, that does not include murdering innocent students."

 

As much as Phisoxa wanted to strike Mixt she knew it wasn't wise to do so right now. If Mixt truly was favored enough by someone in the higher ranks she could cause the school more trouble then it already had from the start. " Just one question.... what makes you obliged to talk so high and mighty as you do now? You are a older student, but someones death shouldn't put you on as high as a pedestal as you are now..."

 

"So what are you going to do about it?" Mixt asked Allen pointedly "Are you going to attack me because I'm in the way of your ideals? Face it, this is strength. I embrace it while you hold yourself back; and the moment you don't you're no better than I am. So go on, hit me if you've got it in you" Turning to Phisoxa he said. "I just feel free. For so long I've catered to everyone else to try and get a foothold in this world, and now I realize how good it feels to dig out a foothold for yourself." Then Mixt acted surprised like he forgot something. "Oh yeah, and I finally got adopted. You could call me prince now but I would hate to be so formal" Mixt said as he pulled out the Eclipscion emblem Torxber gave him.

 

" A prince?! I can't believe it ...." Phisoxa said looking shocked as she dropped the book that was in her hand and it landed on the ground. " It's hard to think that Janina just lets this happen...." Phisoxa said as the door opened to the girl's bathroom and Shero stepped out into the hall with a towel around her shoulders, a look of confusion on her face as she looked down the hallway. " Whats going on?" Shero asked as Phisoxa turned her gaze to Shero. " Don't worry about it Shero just stay back there...."
