Wartime Reverie

The man paused as he listened to Allen and then took a few seconds while he contimplated his response. "Wow... you know, I, at first, realized I had made a mistake and come here a week early, but then I figured I could get this whole team sorted out ahead of schedule. But you guys are really smart!" The man then began to level with Allen "Alright, here's the deal, you have ask many very good questions! However, most of which I am not able to answer... For reasons you would understand, but shouldn't understand, at this time! I can answer a few things, however, your role in the team would be the same as all the other team members, to work efficiently towards defeating your opposition. And no! I can not tell you who your opposition is! Look, I know it all sounds shady, but I'm not asking you to join right here and now. I'll give you a week or so, okay?" The man paused "And actually all the stuff that I'm not able to answer now will be answered by then... Okay?"

 

Allen thought for a moment. "Alright, one week, then I'll decide." He got up off the bench and started walking back towards the academy, he had been skipping his classes to think about all this and it was about time he headed back. "See you in a week."

 

The man shouted out to him "Actually, I'm not even sure it will be a week! I'm not really sure, it may be a day or even sooner! Don't worry, you'll know what I mean later!" The man then dissappeared off into the distance.

 

Allen decided to take a tram back to the academy. He liked taking walks but it would be quicker to take a tram and after meeting this strange man who knew so much about him he was nervous about the long walk back. Plus with the events of the past day he felt like taking a nap and wanted to get back to his dorm as soon as possible.

 

After finishing their chat about the strange events that had been happening recently Phisoxa and Shero took a stroll over to the library since Shero had to return some books that she had used to study for her Healer's exam a couple weeks ago. Shero handed the books in and then walked with Phisoxa to the massive array of bookshelves that seemed to go up to impossible heights, the tops of the book shelves going up so high that all you could see was a blanket of shadow keeping their tops and the ceiling if there was one at all in the first place hidden from those who looked out from the bottom.

 

Nny sat in the library, quiet and alone. He had just finished reading a book on dark magics and spells, since they were the only one's he had yet to learn. However, information was scarce... and even though the book had information, it cleverly avoided telling how dark magic works or how it could be used. Simply stating it's capabilities. Nny then spotted two beautiful ladies walk in, and Nny decided he didn't want to be alone anymore. He walked up confidently to both of them and said. "Hello, there, I couldn't help but notice you two beautiful young ladies walk in, can I help you with anything today, like finding you a book?"

 

Phisoxa seemed to hesitate when it came to answering the boy after she heard them refer to them as beautiful. She sensed that something else was at work due to the fact that she always been given trouble by her male classmates about this sort of thing before. Though Shero who was a bit innocent minded and oblivious to it all went ahead and answered him. " Why yes, if you could be so kind and help us find a book about curse marks and dark plagues, I've been meaning to study about them ..." Shero said with a smile.

 

Nny thought for a second. He had read most of the books in the library before and even though he was pretending to work there, he knew everything well enough that he might as well be working there. Nny hesitated for a second before going down a couple of ailse's and finding the book the lady had requested. "Here you go, miss. You know, I've read that book before, it's very good. I can help you if you want to study some of it. How about we go up into my dorm room and look it over together?"

 

" Oh really you'd help me do that? My my aren't you so kind !! Sure I'd like to.." Shero said in a cheery voice as Phisoxa quickly caught on to what was taking place and stepped forward a bit. " How about we just study in the gardens? Its far too stuffy to be stuck in your room on a fine day like this... And hey I will come along as well, I need to read up on my mythology textbook for a test anyways !!" Phisoxa said trying to influence it in a attempt to steer Shero clear of making a mistake.

 

"Well, the garden's are nice and yes rooms are stuffy, but gardens are simply too distracting with nature constantly moving and what not." Nny quickly said, trying to deter the obviously smarter one from taking away his hunt. Nny quickly got between the two and held onto Shero, attempting to get Phisoxa away. "Obviously you have that mythology test that you need to do, so why don't you go do that while I take your friend here for some private one-on-one tutoring." Nny then looked at Shero and said "Don't worry kid, you're in good hands."

 

Phisoxa was getting a bit ticked off at this point though she tried to keep her anger hidden as she walked over and stood in front of them, blocking their path. "Why are you so set on your dorm? Most dorms are plain without the correct accommodation to hold a study party.... nothing too grand about that. . . I think it's best we study together in someplace that has better accommodation and oh by the way shes not going anywhere without me, its nearing dark and its too dangerous to be out alone even in the school building without me..."

 

Nny could see he wasn't going to get what he wanted, but when Phisoxa said it was going to be getting dark, Nny remembered that he had a special test he must attend to. "Well, actually, I just remembered that I have a test I must attend. Even though the test from a day back ended in disaster, life goes on." Nny then turned to Shero and said "Well, I will always be here if you need help studying." Nny then began to walk away, but then came back and stood infront of Shero "Hmm... well, in case I get killed..." Nny kissed Shero right there. "... At least people will say that I went out with a bang." Nny then walked out of the library and to his testing grounds.

 

Both Shero and Phisoxa's eyes widened in shock as a bright blush appeared on Shero's cheeks and her hands went up to her mouth in surprise and a grimace appeared on Phisoxa's face as she took the book she was holding and threw it in Nny's direction. The book missed and ran right into the wall on the right side of the doorway due to Nny exiting the room too fast for Phisoxa to make a direct it. " Oh that little .... If I see him again I'm going to kick him into the curve !!!" Phisoxa said as the other students in the library told Phisoxa to quiet down.

 

Nny stood in the middle of the forest. The test he was about to face was a special one. It was him against an opposing team. Nny knew they would move as a group and figured it was only a matter of time before they found him. Nny waited on this. He figured they would all fall into his trap. Suddenly, four students came flying out of the trees, all of them coming down on Nny...

Nny just stood there silent for a moment before jumping up in the air above them all.

All four students began falling towards the ground where Nny stood a moment ago, and they all panicked. For underneath Nny was a hole. This hole was a portal hole and when the students went through, they arrived directly on top of Nny, who had his wooden sword ready.

Nny had used this trick to bring his opponents into unkown territory when entering the portal. Not knowing what to expect. This also helped Nny use specific attacks that they were unprepared for. Nny swung his wooden sword around in a circle and knocked them all away from himself and into different parts of the forest. The hit, along with the fall knocked all four of the students out. Leaving Nny the victor...

 

Allen sat up in his bed with a start. He had been having a nightmare, but now that he was awake he couldn't remember it. He remembered images of Mixt, of blood, of himself fighting, of Jen, and he remembered a desperate, terrified feeling, but he couldn't remember the dream itself.What he could remember of the dream told him it had something to do with the murder he'd witnessed.He let out a sad sigh, he just couldn't escape from what he'd seen could he? Not even in his dreams.

He found himself again wondering about the things he didn't understand. Most importantly why Mixt had killed the boy. He just couldn't make sense of it.

He saw that the sun had gone down and decided he'd spend some time stargazing while he thought about this. Allen got dressed and went out the door. Once he was outside of the dorm building he decided to walk to the forest.

It was a relatively short walk to a tree Allen knew of that had some branches he could comfortably lay down in and easily see the sky from. He loved to just lay in the sort of natural hammock made by the trees perfectly place leaves and branches, and he and he had even slept in this tree a few times. He had slept better those few nights than when he slept in his own bed.This was where he usually came when he was upset. Just laying in this tree and staring at the sky -day or night- often made him feel much better, and he'd always wanted to show this spot to Jen, but she had never been to the academy.

Laying here did calm him down now, but he still couldn't stop thinking about what had happened. The more he thought about it the more he wanted to know why Mixt had done it. Until eventually he felt he needed to know, just to put his mind at ease. He wanted to talk to Mixt now, to ask why he had killed that boy.

He doubted though, that he would be allowed to speak with the murderer.

 

Dr. Traken walked about the halls, pondering the events that had transpired during the test. Mixt had killed someone? Not possible. At least, not by accident. Dr. Traken tried to formulate theories on why Mixt would commit such a henious act, but in the end, concluded that such thoughts were useless and that only the killer would know the true answer. Dr. Traken instead focused his thoughts on obtaining the remaining ingrediants for his Elixir of Life. Dr. Traken knew he could not stay at the school any longer. The proper ingrediants were needed to make the Elixir and they were scattered all over the world. Dr. Traken knew he would have to seek out the ingrediants himself, no matter how dangerous.

 

After a while in the library Phisoxa had escorted Shero to the public washrooms to take a shower. As she waited around for Shero to finish Phisoxa stood out in the hallway reading her mythology book since she was studying for a test. The hallway was nearly empty except for Phisoxa who sat alone on a chair.

 

Allen hadn't managed to shake his desire for answers or his desire to speak with Mixt, in fact they had only grown stronger the more he thought about them. He needed to use the bathroom though so he climbed down from his tree and walked back to the dorms. As he neared the bathroom he noticed Phisoxa sitting and reading her textbook. He recognized her from the fight with Mixt but decided not to bother her as he didn't want to interrupt her reading -and because he would need a good excuse for wanting to discuss the events they had witnessed if he wanted to keep up the image he was trying portray. While he was using the bathroom though his unhappiness and confusion over the issue won out and as he was walking out of the restroom he sat down near Phisoxa and spoke to her. "Hey. You were there the other night weren't you? The girl I gave the elixir to."

 

Phisoxa turned to acknowledge Allen, just now recognizing who he was." Oh hey... I'm sorry for turning on you during the fight...." Phisoxa said as she set her book down on her lap. " So uh... why are you down here?" Phisoxa said as one of the lights at the end of the hall blinked out, immersing the other end of the hall in darkness.

 

Drei was currently sitting down at a table in the library, thinking about what had happened the past night. Though memory of the night was fuzzy, he could clearly remember that someone had died and the name of the culprit Mixt. Still even with all that he could remember, he had no intention of approaching him about any of this, at least not until he had a more solid grasp of what had happened.
