Wartime Reverie

Allen laid down on his back, letting gravity hold in his innards to free his hands. He removed his vest and shirt. Then tore the shirt in a way that would make it into a makeshift bandage. He tied it tightly around his wound. With some effort he stood up, he set the tip of his sword against the ground and leaned on it. When Drei had offered to help him, he thought the other boy was offering some kind of healing. He could have gotten himself away from the fight if he had wanted. Shirtless, and using his sword like a cane, he began making his way back to where Rako and Claire were fighting. Unsure exactly what he planned to do once he got there.

 

Claire realized the danger of fighting Rako in close range combat and jumped away from him just in time to avoid his attack, she turned her hands back to normal as she summoned fireballs in her hands and flung them at Rako, she wasn't sure what magic she could do but she needed to drive Rako off.

 

Rako spun around his staff, knocking all the approaching fireballs back at Claire. He continued to move closer to her as he did this. However, he realized this could continue on for some time and then teleported above her. He let gravity bring him and his staff down on Claire.

 

Suddenly time stopped just before Rako's attack made contact, Robert came running from the palace entrance and carried Claire out of the way and then summoned beams of light all around Rako that would seriously hurt him. Time started up again as Rako's attack hit nothing but the ground and the beams appeared out of nowhere. Claire was in Robert's arms surprised at what had just happened, "Rob?" she asked quietly since she was confused, but Robert didn't look at her, his face filled with fury as he stared Rako down.

 

When Drei had gotten back to the palace, the first thing he did was fire off a shot at Rako. The bullet missed, but it had fulfilled it's purpose a warning shot.

 

Rako was surprised when his target had suddenly vanished and didn't even register the light around him. The attack hit and Rako screamed out in pain. His staff dissappeared and he knelt down on the ground. He looked around and saw Robert holding onto Claire. Blood leaked from all parts of Rako's body. Rako growled "There is always a pest to interupt the predator." Rako said speaking loud and clear for Robert to hear "But at least this predator doesn't go back on his promises..." Rako then dissappeared in a cloud of darkness...

 

"That's right run" Robert said putting Claire down "Its over" he said to everyone as a flare went up into the sky from the Eclipscion airship and the sounds of fighting vanished "They got what they wanted, the king is dead" Robert said to everyone who was alive around him. "King?" Claire asked not knowing what he was on about.

 

Nny came out with the woman, who no longer held the baby from before. He led her through the streets, attempting to find a Janinian person to take her. Nny knew he couldn't leave her with the Eclipscion soldiers for fear of what they would do with her. Nny eventually found some who had survived and left her with them. Nny then made his way to the castle to survey the damage.

 

Reese sent a blast of light energy towards the man; she was trying her best to protect Phisoxa without blindly attacking to much. She needed to avoid anything too powerful; she didn't know what this man was capable of.

Vendeval found himself walking up to the sliced gates of the palace. "Seems I missed quite a party." He thought to himself.

 

Allen hobbled to the place where Claire had fought with Rako, every step he took caused him pain but he made it back at around the same time Vendeval was getting there. He looked around, unable to find Rako. He leaned against a wall, supporting himself on it. "Rako's gone?," he asked no one in particular. "Don't tell me I missed the party." The pain from his stab wound could be heard in his voice.

 

The man easily deflected Reese's light attack into a wall "Stop" the man said showing no emotion. He stopped walking forward and sighed "Look if you want to fight me try and catch up, I have a rat to kill" The man said turning around and running out a window. The cloaked man landed right at the palace entrance, faced with Robert, Claire, Allen, Drei and Vendeval. "This is what made you retreat? Oh I'm sorry honour your agreement that is defunct?" The man said quietly to himself.

 

" He ran off.... I wonder what he meant by rat.... "Phisoxa thought as she cast her eyes to the ground that was stained claret with drying blood. " I wonder if the king is still alive... and if the other knights are with him. I should go find him...." Phisoxa said looking over at them.

 

Reese turned to Phisoxa. "I can't say that I know for sure. Do You want to go look?" She thought that it was unlikely that the king was still alive, but she didn't know for sure what the Eclipscions had been after so he might still live.

Vendeval saw the cloaked figure run out of the palace. For some uknown reason, he ignored him, as well as most of the others. He silently examined a corpse that seemed to be no different from the others.

 

Dr. Traken awoke underneath much rubble from his house... the attack was so swift, and Dr. Traken was so focused on other things... It was unexpected. Dr. Traken pushed the rubble off of himself with ease. Then, surprisingly, Dr. Traken got himself up with ease as well. As if he were a young man again... The old doctor took note of these things and looked around his house which had been completely levelled. All of his things destroyed. Things just didn't add up... How did the doctor survive? Dr. Traken began to ponder on this when his mind was distracted by the destruction still hanging around him. He gazed in horror and amusement at the devestation that had rocked the city. Dr. Traken picked up his cane, which laid underneath some rubble, and began to walk around to see more of the damage.

 

The cloaked man first looked at Vendeval with hidden contempt then at Allen, struggling to approach. The man approached Allen fast, before anyone could react “So your Allen” he said as he started circling the boy “I can see now why Nny dislikes you, so impulsive, idealistic, narrow minded and of course self-righteous, no wonder Nny wants to drive a blade threw your heart so badly” the man said casually “But he can’t see what I see, the hatred, anger, racism, guilt and the self-resentment, it’s like watching you scream out against the world and no one able to hear you, because your weak, powerless and simple just too simple minded to do the hard things, except of course when you don’t think things through, or when you get truly angry, has anyone seen your true anger?” the man asked Allen as he continued to circle Allen. During all this Robert took the chance to escape with Claire while the man was focusing on Allen.

 

" I will go check on the King, watch yourself alright. Those fiends might still be around." Phisoxa said as she held one of her hands out and a sword with a blade made entirely of diamond. " I wish you luck." Phisoxa said as she skittered off down the hallway, trying to be as stealthy as possible in the shadows.

Near the walls of the palace Shero watched from behind a downed pillar, waiting to see if the coast was clear. " I thought I told you its too dangerous to head back to the castle girl...." Dante whispered as he leaned out from behind a tree. " We can't leave Phisoxa alone in the castle with all of this happening..." Shero said.

 

Drei just stood idly by as the man inspected Allen.

By the time Rouge had gotten to the palace, the fighting had ended. "Seems like I missed all the fun."

 

"Why do you care if anyone's seen me angry?" Allen's injury almost made it hard for him to speak. His walk here had agitated it and it was worse now than it had been when he had first received it. Nevertheless he wasn't about to back down or show any weakness in front of this man, who had suddenly appeared with no other apparent purpose than to insult him. "And what do you want with me anyway?"

 

"I am intrigued, you have lots of potential, but you hold yourself back" the man said walking away "I mean for a son of the eclipse I find you lacking compared to the others but the potential is there, honestly I blame your parents, after all its a natural instinct for this to happen in Janina"

 

Reese was wondering if Phisoxa would be okay by herself, but she relaxed when she saw the diamond sword; it was clear the man had merely caught her off guard. She decided she should try to meet up with Robert and see if anything bad had happened.

Vendeval continued to examine the corpse. He didn't have to try hard to hear what the man was saying to Allen; he was speaking quite loudly. "Should I inform Allen that the combination of that mans loud voice and silent high pitched undertone similar to evil laughter meant that this is most likely a rehearsed speech with a dark intent?" He thought to himself. He hesitated. "Na, he's probably too busy holding his guts inside to pay attention anyway." He turned the corpse so that he had a view of the back of it's neck. He saw the crescent moon tattoo. He thought about the small remnants of fine white shimmering dust on the corpse' stomach. "The Master killed this spy..."
