Wartime Reverie

After finding not a shred of evidence in the filing room, Juno gave up and leaned against a bookshelf as she thought about what to do next. But suddenly the bookshelf spun around behind her and she was spun into a empty corridor. Juno's curiosity got the best of her as she followed the corridor and walked towards the door at the end. Juno opened the door and found that the door opened up between two towering shelves that held jars of materials. " Hmm that's strange... I wonder where I am...." Juno said as she walked further into the room. She accidentally bumped into a shelf which let a couple jars fall over and give off a loud crash when they hit the floor. " Damn it !!" She said in a whisper.

 

Rako then decided to mix things up. Jumped back and then started charging at Drei again. Rako then appeared to attack Drei when suddenly Rako vanished... it had been an illusion! The real Rako appeared behind Drei and tried to slash at his back.

"Who's there?" a voice came from the darkness. "Hello?" The voice got closer until Dr. Traken appeared in front of Juno. "You, what are you doing here? This is a private labratory and you are destroying some of my ingrediants!"

 

That maneuver clearly disproved Drei's theory and since he wasn't skilled enough with a sword to attempt blocking it form behind, he had no choice but to dodge it. While he succeeded in his attempt to avoid major damage, there was still a cut on his back from where the sword had hit.

 

Juno nearly jumped at the sudden appearance of the man. " I'm so sorry sir.. !!" Juno said with a apologetic tone as she fumbled in her vest, looking for her badge and pulling it out to show him. " Officer Juno, I was hired to investigate some strange goings on around here and I stumbled upon a secret passage way that lead to your lab...'

 

"An officer of the law? What sort of strange goings are you supposedly inquiring about? Maybe I might be able to help." said Dr. Traken, but he had no intention of doing that. If she was here for what Dr. Traken had thought she was, he was in big trouble. He had been allocating funds to himself for weeks now trying to get the rare ingrediants he needed for his elixir. If that was found out, he would lose, not only his job, but any hope of becoming immortal and escaping the coldness of death.

"You are very nimble. However, you won't avoid me forever." Said Rako... Then Rako threw his sword of darkness at Drei, but the sword unexpectedly stopped in mid air, right infront of Drei and began attacking him, as if a person was holding it. Rako held his hand out, controlling the sword of darkness from afar. Meanwhile, Rako began charging some form of dark magic in his other hand.

 

" There has been rumors circulating around that a network of spies from Ecpliscion have been hiding out here... do you know anything about that and so sorry for the sudden entrance Professor.. I must be distracting you from your work..." Juno said while looking up at him. If anyone was close enough they'd notice she had a strange aura about her.

 

Dr. Traken sighed in relief, but to Juno it was just a sigh. "No, no. I understand it is for a good cause. Unfortunatly I have no knowledge of such thing. These days I have just been here, hiding in my private labratory." Dr. Traken looked down at the broken jars and the ingrediants they once held. "And fortunatly you didn't break anything valuable. These ingrediants cost next to nothing." Dr. Traken began cleaning up the mess. "Now, I hope you don't mind me saying child, but I doubt you are ever going to find the spies this way. If you ask a spy if he's a spy or knows anything about spies, what do you think he'll say?"

 

" Alright then if you haven't noticed anything strange going on lately then there is nothing further that I can gather from you . . ." Juno said as she took a notepad out and scratched his name out on the list of people she was going to interview. " I might as well take my leave, sorry for the bother Professor. "

 

"Wait!" Shouted the Dr. Traken, and as Juno stood there, the doctor ran into his lab. After a few breif moments, he came back out with a bottle. "This is an Elixir of Truth. Simply have a subject drink a drop of this and they will have no choice but to tell you the truth, whether they want to or not. I would suggest pouring a drop of this into a drink and giving it to your targets to find out if they have any secrets to hide." Dr. Traken then handed the bottle over to Juno.

 

Mixt rushed through the forest, playing the delicate balance of not being seen or heard while keeping a fast moving target in sight. It was a task that only became harder when she moved into a more dead part of the forest. He had almost let her go when he first saw her, but then he caught sight of her badge, a lone captain was just too appealing to let slide. Finally the target came to a stop and Mixt moved very slowly in order to close the gap. Sliding the wooden blade around the tree trunk to pin her between the sword and the tree Mixt whispered "Not as threatening as steel, but I think you get the idea"

 

Juno took the bottle in her hand and then slipped it into her pocket. " Thank you, hopefully I find out something before it's too late..." Juno said with a smile. " Goodnight Professor..." Juno said acknowledging him before she turned and walked towards the door that lead outside of the lab.

Phisoxa was surprised by the sudden appearance of the man and gripped the handle of her sword. " Don't think I'm going to go out so easily..." Phisoxa said as she whacked away the blade with her sword and jumped away as she turned back towards him while pointing her sword at him.

 

Rako turned around and saw Phisoxa and Mixt. Rako realized that in challenging this fool, he had completely disregarded the possiblity of others. A mistake he would take care not make again. Thankfully for Rako these two other students had engaged each other. Rako halted his attack on Drei and charged his other hand with dark magic. He fired his a blast of dark magic at the girl and then readied the other blast for the boy.

 

Mixt ducked behind a tree at the sight of the blast behind Phisoxa. To deal with multiple opponents, especially with one of them willing to make an attack like that, extra preparations were in order. Quickly scratching out another transmutation circle in the dirt, Mixt used the dirt to transform the sword into metal (though he did leave it blunted), and the sheath transformed into a duplicate. Holding the left sword in reverse grip and the right normally he stepped out from his cover to face his opposition.

 

Phisoxa dodged the blast by jumping out of the way and doing a barrel roll where she stopped near a tree a crouched down. She knew she was at a loss here because both of the men had managed to create swords out of magic. Phisoxa had no other choice but to combat magic with magic. Phisoxa raised her hand, creating a small orb of blue flame in it that flickered softly as if it were on a candle wick. Phisoxa then held it close to her lips and blew on it as the flames flew through the air as if she were using a huge flame thrower, making the flames reach out towards Mixt and Rako.

 

At first, Rako used a shield made of magic to stop the fire from hitting him, but slowly the shield wrapped around the flames and contained them. But before they became extinguished by the lack of oxygen, Rako decided to fling the flames at Mixt, hoping he would be too busy protecting himself from the front to avoid an attack from the side.

 

Mixt created a cross with his sword to divert the flames away from, but with the flames surrounding him he missed the attack to the side. Despite the surprise he managed to hold firm and the damage was lessened by the flame's struggle for life; but his sleeve was destroyed and the skin had minor burns. "A rookie mistake" Mixt criticized himself before he spat on the ground and ran at Rako, believing him to be the stronger opponent.

 

Phisoxa lunged forward when Mixt turned his back to her and she casted another spell that made the ground rumble and hundreds of deadly sharp crystal formations jutted out of the ground from underneath them. The sheer number of the crystals covered the area like a field of spikes.

 

Rako was excited when Mixt ran at him. He couldn't wait for what the boy had up his sleeves. Rako summoned two dark swords to combat Mixt's swords, however, he noticed what the girl was doing. Rako quickly jumped into the air and onto a tree branch nearby. He then turned his dark swords into spears and tossed both of them at Phisoxa.

 

Once the ground started to shake, Mixt instinctively jumped up at a tree and pushed off the trunk to continue at Rako. 'Keep your reactions tight' Mixt reminded himself 'You're up against two magic users, anything can change in a moment' Mixt opted to move past the man attack him from behind, it might throw him off guard but more importantly it would place him in the middle instead of Mixt like it currently was.

 

Phisoxa dodged Rako's spears by hiding behind one of the crystal formations. She then pointed her hand at one of the crystals and blasted the top of one off, taking the sliced portion of the crystal and holding it like a sword in her hand. The moonlight glinted off the sleek edge of the shard, showing off it's deadly shape in the dark. Phisoxa then took off running and climbed upon one of the crystals where she stood on the tip of one of them and hopped from one to the other, moving closer to the men with the shard in hand.
