Wartime Reverie

"How do you intend to do it?" asked Nny, seriously concerned at how Allen was going to go about it.

The voice was unrelenting "You have yet to understand the gravity of your failures Allen. It is time you accepted them." A sharp pain began instilling itself all throughout Allen's body. It didn't cripple him or peremantly damage him in anyway, it just provided an extra bother.

 

" So how about me? What should I do? My skill is healing not blowing up airships..." Shero said panicking slightly as Dante listened in. He seemed to be totally stoic even with everything going on around them.

Phisoxa walked through the hallways, her eyes falling upon the numerous corpses that littered the floor. " What happened.... so much death and darkness..." Phisoxa thought her eyes widening as her anxiety levels seemed to rise through the roof within her. " What do I do? Where do I go?" Phisoxa thought.

 

Reese quickly ran down the street after Robert, slicing and blasting the debris as it fell around her. She paused when she noticed the hospital explode. Her fist clenched; no one was going to get away with that. Reese hated when people hurt the innocent just for political power. As infuriating as it was though, she turned to hurry after Robert; she would handle that later.

Vendeval leaped off of the room in just the nick of time, though he took some minor damage from the force of the impact. He landed amongst the others as they were discussing destroying the airships. "I could probably destroy one with my storm magic." He said as his chain whip formed a windy Helix around him.

 

"We should find a position that is easily defensible" Claire said to the group "Trying to attack the enemy ship would be suicidal" she said to the newcomer "There is something powerful here and if we attack that ship we will draw it to us"

It didn't take long for Reese and Robert to reach the palace entrance, the front door was locked closed and all the guards near by were dead. "They hit here first" Robert said kneeling down to inspect the dead "Before the battle started"

Footsteps echoed near Phisoxa. Someone approached her from another hallway, the power radiating from that direction was immense.

 

After slaying the remaining spies in the area, Nny came back towards the group and then put his sword at the newcomers throat. "Now, who are you? And how do we know you aren't another one like them?" He motioned to the spies he had just killed and then waited for a response.

 

Allen considered what Claire had said. Running over possible ideas and trying his best to ignore the pain he was feeling. After a short time he thought of an idea he liked. "Maybe we don't have to destroy it. Maybe we just break into the bridge and fly it away. Mess with the controls so that they can't fly it back, and then bail out as the ship's leaving to fight on the ground. Does that sound good to anyone?"

 

"No" Claire said "That sounds like a stupid idea that will get us all killed and would achieve nothing, from what I can tell you are all amateurs, correct? While the enemy is full trained soldiers, don't underestimate them, even your own soldiers are ignoring it" Claire said "For now the best thing would be leave the airship alone and defend the city, but you are to weak to defend the city so hold up someplace"

 

The rage inside Reese was boiling as they observed the dead bodies outside the palace doors. She turned towards the monumental barrier that stood between them and the inside. She threw her wind and fire wheels skyward and deposited into them large amounts of energy that made them grow to a large size. She then swung her arms in various patterns as if she still held them, quickly chopping up the thick doors in only a few minutes. "That may have cost us some time. Let's hurry."

When Nny pointed his sword at Vendevals throat, He just stared at the guy. "You, the guy who has been spouting hateful and sarcastic remarks with no trace of understanding for the last few minutes of the time which I was forming in the clouds, want to know why you should trust me?" With your attitude, I shouldn't be trusting you! I never asked for your trust, I just said I could blow up a ship. I was kinda standing on top of the hospital before it blew up, so I have a motive. As for those imbeciles, you don't know I'm not one of them, I can only give you my word that i'm not, but seeing as how you have labeled me a liar after hearing a single sentence that did not even hinge upon a factor of trust, you would obviously not believe me. Please don't even start on caution; not being sure you can trust someone is completely different from going up and pointing a sword in their face. It's just plain rude." Vendeval continued to ignore the jurtling debris; it was bouncing off his wind shield that had been thrown up, and was also being zapped by lightning; He could not keep this up forever, but it would do until the end of his rant.

"Saying that this is war is not an excuse either. I said one thing, you have a right to question without threatening first; if I refuse you that THEN you can commence with the bladed objects. To slay someone without a chance is not being cautious; it is murder, cowardice. Heck, If you think that is even 1% of a logical excuse for killing someone innocent, then you are no better than them." Vendeval took a deep breath. "Now then, where were we?" He felt good having used the surplus of energy that had been pent up inside after he was first formed.

 

"Be careful' Robert said running threw the main doors, the main lobby was filled with dead. But there wounds weren't battle wounds, they were something else, like a monster had ripped its way threw the lobby killing everyone it came across. Robert was unfazed by the carnage "Don't focus on them" he said to Reese as he observed the dead.

 

" Are you sure its a smart idea to be taking control of the ship? Not only will we be leaving the battlefield but does anyone know how to drive a battleship ? Let alone a car in this group?" Shero said with a concerned look


Phisoxa walked cautiously through the hallway, stepping over the bodies as her body began to shake. Memories of her childhood started to toy with her mind, making it progressively harder for her to continue. " I don't want to do this... " Phisoxa thought shaking a little as she stopped by a door and heard something bump against it. " Who's there?" Phisoxa said as she walked towards the door and hesitated before opening it. She opened it slowly and peered in, seeing nothing but shadow, but in a splint second something came falling out and landed right on top of her. It was a man's lifeless corpse who had swords jutting out of his back. This caused Phisoxa to scream out and jump back as she tripped over a corpse in doing so.

 

Nny unfortunatly listened to all the dribble the... thing... could come up with. "And all you have proven to me, is that you are a waste of time." Nny put down his sword and walked away from Vendeval "And I don't want you covering my back. Now, I agree with Claire, let's find a place where we can hole up. I can't believe I'm even taking the time to stick with you people." Nny then began walked away from the group and down the street, silently declaring himself the leader and knowing the group will follow.

 

The sky started the darken as the airship attacked less and less, there was almost no target left to bomb.

The cloaked man walked towards Phisoxa, his black coat now stained dark red from all the people he had killed, he picked her up by the neck "Time to make a problem disappear" he said as he started choking her with one hand, he summoned his sword which was still covered in blood in his other hand and prepared to stab her.

"The palace" Claire said as she looked at it. After everything she said about holing up somewhere her train of thought was lost, something was there that needed to be stopped. She ran off towards the palace, not caring about the others.

 

Allen's pride was hurt somewhat when Claire called him an amateur. "Wrong. We may be a little inexperienced compared to some others but Nny was one of the top students at one of Janina's top academies, and I've already taken on armed soldiers and beaten them. On top of that just recently I single-handedly took out an airship's engine. We can definitely manage this. More importantly, look what that airship just did to the hospital. Look what it's still doing to the city. We should take that thing out."

 

Reese heeded Roberts advice and ignored the bodies, instead paying heed to a faint scream. She ran towards the source through the twisting corridors, running into the room and blocking the stab from the cloaked man. "Are you alright?" she asked Phisoxa.

"Overconfident aren't you?" said Vendeval. "Well that's nice and all but I'm here on business that isn't war; so if you can't tell me where to find my master, I won't be following you so closely as you believe. Seeing as you're rather ignorant on the matter based on seeing my magic, I must conclude that you know nothing, and that I must continue my business by looking around at the palace. I wish you good luck." He turned and headed off without another word, seconds behind Claire.

 

Nny just walked away from the group. He didn't want any part of them. He was going to make his own plan and stick to it. He found himself walking into the slums again, but this time, it was quite devoid of life. All the people who had lived there had been completely slaughtered by the airships assult. Most of the slum dogs were killed as well and their makeshift bows and swords lie broken on the ground... as a testimate to what had been there before. A woman could be heard crying. Nny walked towards the sounds and found a woman holding her baby and sobbing... the Baby didn't make any noise. Nny grabbed the woman, made her stand up and walked her into the sewers. There, they would wait out the storm of soldiers. And afterword... Nny would try to get out from behind enemy lines.

 

Phisoxa gasped for air as her hands gripped onto the man's hands and tried to pry them off. " Leave me alone !!" Phisoxa cried out as suddenly a stranger came into view and helped her out. " Who are you?"

" Everyone is leaving... maybe it isn't a good idea to fight now...." Shero said with a depressed looked in her eyes as Dante sighed deeply. " I'd be one of them if I lacked a heart... "

 

After Claire had called Allen an amateur, and after she had treated him like an idiot whenever he asked a completely reasonable question, he felt like he had something to prove. That was why he had run with her when she left for the palace. Now he looked at her and wondered why he felt like he needed to prove anything to her. It wasn't like him to care about someone else's opinion of him. Especially a stranger's. He spoke to her. "Hey, how fast did you want to get to the palace?"

 

"we can't run to fast or el-" She stopped talking as two Janina guards cut them off. In an instant Claire took them down, though she didn't kill them "This one is an infiltrator" she said looking at the back of his neck, a half crescent moon was tattooed on his neck. "The other isn't she said pulling her summoning a blade and killing the spy before she started running again. "We have to hurry" she said as they approached the palace front door.

"That was rude" the cloaked man said to Reese "Trust me when you say she should die" he said, his voice was familiar but his face was hidden. "Now step aside" he said as he summoned another blade "I have a friend itching to play and I would rather finish before he gets control"

 

Rouge decided to take a stealthy approach in his journey. Since it was clear that their be soldiers on the prowl throughout the streets and attacking them head on would be suicide, he decided to proceeded through the alleyways. Right now it seemed to be his best option in order for him to get to the castle without being noticed.

When the attack started, Drei quickly moved away from the bulk of the soldiers as fast as he could. He decided that heading towards the castle would be a good idea and that's what he did.

 

The voice returned "The longer you ignore me Allen, the stronger I will become. You may notice that you are significantly weaker, and that is because I am sapping away whatever pitiful energy you have to offer. Very soon, I will manifest myself to make you take responsibility for your actions."
