Wartime Reverie

"That flower has black petals? Oh no..." Legion pieced it together "Of course! I have a seperate filing case for immortals! And that's what Crato is! He's an immortal! That flower is a special flower which has nectar that can turn a mortal person into an immortal being and an immortal being into a mortal person! Crato must have put it in her eye's or mouth while she was sleeping and then killed her with his sword! You have to get to him and stop him from lifting the Black Comet off! Who knows what he'll do!"

Raxtion didn't respond to Allen, simply too distraught for words. He suddenly stopped sobbing... He kissed Alicia's cold lips deeply once more before gently putting her down on the ground. Raxtion stood up and sparks of electricity started forming around him. "Crato..." he simply said. Then he shrieked out "CCCCCRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Raxtion dashed out the window, not even thinking about Allen, rushing after Crato, with his sword in his hand.

"Follow him!" Legion said quickly to Allen "Don't let him get too far, he'll need your help!"

 

Allen picked up the flower, he figured it might come in handy later. He hastily threw the blanket over Alicia's body and jumped out the window. He summoned a beam of light and began riding it like a surf board, so that he could catch up with Raxtion. "Legion tell me anything about Crato that might be useful for stopping him, and do it quick!"

As he got close to Raxtion he shouted out, "Raxtion, Stop!"

 

Legion began reading off Crato's file to Allen. "Crato is an immortal who once made a living of finding gods and killing them. He is merciless and cruel. Responsible for destroying planets for his own fun and enjoyment. He was once known to all gods and was banished from this universe and sent to another dimension. That's where the file ends. He must have figured out some way to escape his imprisonment. Odds are that the shadows were his creation too. Be very careful."

Raxtion didn't listen, he simply keep dashing at lightning speeds towards the Black Comet. He could see it begin to take off. Raxtion looked at Allen. He jumped onto Allen's board of light and said "Quickly, we must get on that ship! There is a secret hatch underneath it. Get us there and I'll open it!"

 

"Alright, but remember this, our main goal is to stop the Comet. We'll deal with Crato after it's grounded. Got that?" Allen rushed to the Comet. They couldn't let this thing accomplish whatever sinister goal Crato had for it. "Apparently Crato's an immortal," Allen said to Raxtion as they got close. "A real bad one too. He used to make his living off of killing gods and goddesses. And is known to have destroyed planets for fun. The Comet's probably made to do just that. Got that? We have to stop the Comet first to save your world, then we'll take Crato down together. He's also probably responsible for the monsters, so I'd expect he fights like them. Whatever you do don't let him psych you out?" They flew near the bottom of the Black Comet. "Alright, get us in. It's do or die time."

 

Raxtion nodded but he wasn't sure he could take this. He opened the hatch and entered through it. Now the bottom hatch only led to the main chamber where Crato and the other disciples were. When Raxtion entered in, Crato immediately took notice. He had been sitting in a chair of his own design, it was made out to look like a throne. And from this throne, Crato could moniter all of his disciples actions as well as view their path from a screen. Crato got up and turned to Raxtion who was behind his throne. "Hello, Raxtion, how nice of you to join us." he said as he flicked his fingers and ten shadow creatures appeared and attacked. Raxtion held them off long enough for Allen to get in.

 

Allen climbed in and immediately joined Raxtion in fighting the creatures. "You know you didn't have to have us attacked immediately after we got on board. You could've tried to play innocent, or given some big villain speech. I mean, jeez, haven't you ever watched a movie?" Allen was using his cocky attitude to hide the fact that he was actually looking around -as he spun and leaped about to fight the monsters- for a way to sabotage the ship. "But I guess if you want we can do that why'll the fight's going on. Here, I'll give you an easy starting point. Why'd you do it?" "Legion, give me something I can use to stop this thing."

 

Legion examined the structure of the Black Comet from the inside and out. "No way..." Legion said in disbelief "This Crato is a pro. He has lined the interior and exterior with titanium alloy. Trust me, I can tell just by looking at it." Legion then devised a plan. "Attempt to attack his disciples first, Crato can't operate the ship by himself, and this will allow you to engage him in battle."

Raxtion listened to Allen's comments and wondered how he could be so calm about everything. Raxtion continued fighting off the beasts, but they were much tougher, probably due to the proximity with Crato.

The ship came to a halt as it reached the outer orbits of the planet. The cannon aimed itself at the planet.

Crato watched the two battle his minions and smiled. He didn't even bother to respond to Allen's remarks.

 

"What's the matter, cat got your tongue? Well you never struck me as the talkative sort. Still, it makes you kind of a boring villain." Allen shot out a beam of light, it reflected off of some monitors in front of one of Crato's disciples and back into his face and eyes. He would be blind for the next few hours and was now unable to work his post. "Which one controls the gun?"

Crato noticed Allen was attacking his disciples and flicked his fingers. Three of them jumped from their posts and began attacking Allen. They were all as strong as Raxtion.

Raxtion saw what Allen was up to. He killed the shadows and ran for one of the desciples, stabbing one that was simply sitting down in the back.

Crato flicked his fingers again but this time more shadows appeared and they all went after Raxtion.

Raxtion pulled his sword out of the disciple's stomach and began defending himself.

The cannon on the Black Comet began charging...

 

"Hey now," Allen said to the disciples as he blocked and avoided their attacks to the best of his abilities. "I don't wanna hurt you guys. I'm just here to save the world, and take down your boss. Even the one I already attacked is gonna be fine in a couple of hours." When they kept attacking he just said, "have it your way." He jumped up and used a pillar of light to launch himself over their heads and temporarily blind them. Landing behind them he simultaneously hit one in the back of the head with the pommel of his sword and punched another in the kidney. As the third one turned around, his eyes recovering from the flash, Allen attempted to sweep his legs out from under him.

 

Allen was successful in blinding and taking care of the three disciples, and his light had stun the dark creatures long enough for Raxtion to destroy them all with clean hits.

The Black Comet was fully charged and ready to fire.

Crato snapped his fingers and all the disciples got up. With three beaten by Allen and one blinded by Allen and including the one Raxtion killed, there were seven disciples left. Four of them went and attacked Allen, while three of them attacked Raxtion.

Raxtion defended himself to the best of his ability.

Crato then sat himself at one of the computers and began initiating the final weapon sequence.

 

"You sent more of them to attack me?" Allen said this in reference to having more disciples attacking him than Raxtion. "I'm so flattered." He kicked one of them where the sun don't shine. "But flattery will get you nowhere" He kicked the same one again, this time in his face. "He's gonna be feeling that in the morning." He jumped back and stuck his sword straight out in front of him. "Watch the birdy." He summoned a small ball of light at the end of his sword and swung it around. He fired the ball of light, making it look like he had done it by accident. "Whoops, oh well. What are you gonna do?" Allen rushed back at the three disciples and slide tackled one of them. As he did this the ball of light he had fired off hit the screen of the computer Crato was sitting at, and the light dispersed over it. Allen hoped this would distort Crato's view of the screen enough that he wouldn't be able to make out what was on it and would be unable to finish what he was doing.

 

Crato didn't even flinch.

Suddenly a voice could be heard coming out of the computers "To fire the main cannon, simply press the red button."

Raxtion freaked out and simply jumped over the three students and went straight for Crato.

Crato held his finger over the button... ready to press it...

Raxtion swung his sword at Crato's head.

Crato pressed the button and then immediately after had his head chopped off by Raxtion.

Raxtion watched the monitor.

Silence...

The main cannon let out a screeching noise as it fired a small focused beam of light at the planet, which broke through the layers of gas, through the planet's crust, and hit the planet at it's core. The precise shot that set off a chain reaction and immediately destroyed the planet.

Thousands of people screamed out in pain and then were almost immediatly silenced.

Raxtion, Allen, and the disciples held on as the explosion of the planet shook Black Comet voilently.

Once the vibrations ended, Raxtion looked at the screen to see a vast empty space where his home planet used to be.

Raxtion in a blind rage cut down all of the disciples.

However, while he was doing that Crato reattached his head to his body and grabbed his own sword, ready to do combat himself...

 

The destruction of Raxtion’s planet created a distortion, a place where a hole between dimensions could be opened. As soon as the destruction was complete a planet wide magic circle started forming where the planet used to be. At the dead centre of the circle was a city sized space station that was crewed by thousands of creatures, the same creatures that attacked the academy. When the circle was complete it vanished as the hole between worlds was opened, on the other side of the hole was a planet that looked identical to Allen’s home planet. Millions of ships started passing through the hole, their hulls battle scarred, their course for a distant planet that would take years to reach, a few thousand ships broke off from the main group and fired red lasers upon Crato’s Black Comet.

 

Allen was too devastated to make any wise cracks. He just stared at the monitor in shock.An entire planet, and all of he people on it, had just been wiped out. Time slowed to a crawl in his mind.

Allen was so angry. He thought about the destruction he had just witnessed. Thousands of lives extinguished, Millions of memories that would never be had, a kind goddess who would never receive a proper burial. All because of him, because of his failure. He thought about Alicia, how she reminded him of the girl he loved, and how she had been killed by Crato. He thought of Jen, of how she was always there for him, of the ring he wanted to pull out of his pocket one day. He thought of his own world, too, he thought about Mixt and the monsters that had attacked the school, about the way he and so many others had so suddenly lost their homes. He thought of the vision of Hell he had seen before he had found the girls. And he thought of the way he had just failed to save this planet.

How could Allen protect Jen if he needed to, how could he help save his own world, how could he save anyone, if he couldn't stop one evil man, if he couldn't even save one student from being killed by another? Allen was so angry, not with the man who had just destroyed a planet, or with the boy who had murdered an innocent classmate, but with himself.

He was so devastated that he actually had better control of his temper, despite being angrier than he ever had in his life. He thought to Legion, "to make him mortal I need to get the nectar of the black flower in his mouth or eyes right?" and to Crato he shouted, "So you're immortal, is that it?" He hoped to appeal to Crato's arrogance.

 

Crato continued to ignroe him, simply going for Raxtion.

"The flower you hold in your hand has already had its necter used up!" Legion yelled in a panic "Had I more time to prepare, I would have sent you with tons of those things! Oh if only I had known!" Legion could be heard beating himself up telepathically.

Meanwhile, Raxtion had just finished off the last disciple when Crato stabbed Raxtion in the back. Raxtion had been so preoccupied with killing the disciples that he ignored Allen's comments to Crato.

Crato pulled Raxtion out of his sword and let him collapse on the ground.

Raxtion looked up at Crato seeing that his head was back on and wondering "How was this possible?" Raxtion passed out.

The Black Comet was taking minor damage from the new ships, but if it didn't move soon, it might become subject to more aggressive attacks.

"Now it's your turn, you loud mouthed little brat." said Crato walking towards Allen with his bloodied blade in hand.

 

So the flower was useless. Allen's rage welled up again. But before he would let it out he had to do one last thing. He shouted in his mind "LEGION, YOU CAN BEAT YOURSELF UP LATER! FOR NOW TAKE US TO YOUR LIBRARY! RAXTION TOO! DON'T QUESTION ME AND DON'T COMMENT ON THIS! JUST DO IT!"

He looked at Crato, seething. "No, no. Now it's your turn you piece of crap." Allen held up the flower. "You see this? YOU SEE THIS? This flower has nectar that can take away your immortality. All I have to do is get close enough to use it. After that it's all over for you. Maybe I couldn't save that planet, or Alicia, or maybe even Raxtion. But I can make sure you never hurt anyone ever again." Allen hoped Crato fell for his bluff, but he didn't care. If Crato decided to risk the flower then he would just find another way to pull this off. He set light throughout the ship, reflecting it off the titanium surface until it filled the room and nearly blinded Crato. Then he rushed at him, sword and flower both at the ready.

 

Crato simply stuck his sword out infront of him and Allen ran right into it. "You silly boy... once you've lived as long as I have you learn to see in both the darkness and the light." Crato smiled as he now had Allen in his grasps "Now you die and remain silent like all the others..."

However, suddenly a light appeared from behind Crato.

Crato turned around to see what it was, and was completely shocked to see an aparition of Alicia standing over Raxtion.

Alicia looked at Crato with a stern but plain face, she then looked over at Allen and smiled. She then knelt down next to Raxtion and put her hand over his wound and it instantly healed.

She then stood back up and walked through the ship and into space. There she could be seen moving her arms in strange positions. Then suddenly many spirits could be seen floating around outside. The spirits slowly started gathering into one ball of energy. It was unclear what Alicia was doing, but it involved all the spirits of those who had lost their lives. The ball of energy formed into a single sword that glowed with a strange energy. Alicia then walked through the walls of the Black Comet again and laid the sword next to Raxtion. She then gave him a kiss on the lips before saying "This sword is the remnants of your people. It will never break as long as your spirit remains unbroken. Carry it well my Love, though we may not speak until you cross over, I will always be in your heart." With that said her spirit turned into a ball of energy and flew directly into Raxtion.

Raxtion awoke knowing what he had to do. Raxtion held the sword for a brief moment before holding it up in the air like he was about to strike something infront of him. The sword began glowing and making strange noises. For the first time, Raxtion utilized his true potential. His true power. Raxtion swung his sword in Crato's direction and immediatly the Black Comet began breaking apart. The entire ship began exploding, piece by piece. Crato had been knocked back so hard that he was pushed through the titanium alloy that covered around his ship and sent out into space.

The vacuum of space began to suck up Allen, but not Raxtion.

Raxtion stood perfectly still with the increasing winds attempting to take him having no effect.

Legion quickly teleported in and grabbed Allen and then teleported him back to the Library...

 

Allen clutched at his wound. "You're late. Can you get me a healing elixir or something?"

 

Legion knelt down and gave him one. "You gonna be okay?"
