Wartime Reverie

Allen stared in horror as the creatures attacked the students and staff alike. Watching these things injure the people around him only to have the wounded become more monsters, it was like a vision of Hell. One of the beasts attempted to attack him and he summoned his sword and bisected it. Only to watch the two halves become two separate, fully-functioning, monsters.

As the creatures began closing in on Allen he used an explosion of light to push them back. Then turned and ran with Hell on his heels.

He had to use his magic often to keep the monsters from overtaking him, but he eventually reached the room from which he felt the fading remnants of his werelight. Under normal circumstances he would've knocked, and he almost did now, but he didn't have time. He flung the door open with force, ran into the room, and slammed it behind him. "What are you doing here?," he said somewhat accusingly to the man in the white coat. He turned towards the door and held his sword at the ready, never facing away from it as he spoke. "Something's happening! There are monsters in the school! The hall's already full of them!" He did his best to retain his calm demeanor, despite his frightened state.

 

Shero screamed when the man suddenly appeared and she hid behind Phisoxa who turned and looked at him with a raised brow" Wait you are the man from before.....how can I trust that you aren't going to lead us off to some place bad..." Phisoxa said looking surprised by his sudden appearance.
Shero turned to Allen when he suddenly entered. " Monsters? in the school? I can't believe it..."

 

"Hey, dude, you are right on time. You want to join that team now, Allen?" Asked the man nonchalantly

The man then turned to Phisoxa and the other girl slowly. He was silent for a second to let things sink in. "Lead you someplace bad?" he said quoting off Phisoxa "This is about as bad as things get! You either take my hand and come with me or you suffer a horrible fate here! I'm not playing games here, this is a do or die situation!" The man then turned towards Allen. "The same goes for you!""

 

"Can I come with you if I don't join your team?" Allen was somewhat pissed at the apparent ultimatum, and he let it show.

 

" If what you say is true then I will gladly come along... but can you please tell me, do you know why all of this is happening to the school... why would they attack us?" Phisoxa said while turning back to him. " I just don't understand why this is happening..."

 

"Absolutely not." said the man bluntly. "I am doing you a favour here, I will expect you to owe me. You join my team and come with me, or you don't join my team and die." The man quickly said after that "And don't even think about lying to me... there are consequences far greater in that situation, trust me."

"I only know for sure one thing. That the creature that is attacking is unlike any other. But don't worry. It will be taken care of soon. Unfortunatly, so will this entire school." The man said. "Now, all of you... Take my hands or stay here."

 

Atop of the academy a cloaked man sat on the roof, he hummed a lullaby to himself as the sound of battle started to grow lower. "Its about time, taking bets for how many survivors" he said to the man standing behind him as he stopped humming.

 

"I say maybe 20 or less." said Rako as he walked up beside the man viewing the carnage. It was moments like these that truely made Rako feel pleasure. To hear the screams. To feel the horror. To know the suffering. It gave Rako new birth. A smile came across his face. This was true happiness.

 

Allen grit his teeth, if not for the direness of the situation he might have let his temper get the better of him. "Fine." He turned to face the man. "But this is a temporary arrangement, got that. I still don't know enough about you or your plans to decide whether or not I want to be a part of them. So I'll stick with you until I figure I've paid you back for saving me here and then if I've had enough of your team I'm gone. And I want some answers as soon as we're safe or the deals off. Agreed?" Allen stuck out his hand for a handshake from the man as a sign that he agreed to Allen's terms.

 

Mixt jumped up towards the monster Nny tossed his way, striking it on the way up. But the point was not to deal damage in the first swing, but rather to leave it hanging in the air while Mixt continued above it and spiked it back downwards, into the see of other monsters. Mixt rushed on ahead, slashing at the monsters like one would cut away brush in the forest, but he quickly realized something was wrong. The longer he fought the more these monsters seemed to be able to dodge or deflect his hits, and the faster they would regenerate. "This can't be right. Am I tiring out already or are these actually getting stronger?"

 

"That low?" The man asked surprised "Who am I kidding, they will be lucky to have ten, but seeing as you went low, I will go high, 21 or higher" he said as the whole academy was engulfed by a light blue glow "Don't forget you owe from the last bet"

 

"Wrong, I will tell you everything you want to know, but your stay on my team will be permenant whether you like the answers or not. Agreed?" Asked the man. Not shaking Allen's hand.

Nny watched as Mixt got away. Nny then decided that he had other things to worry about, and that there would be another time to fight Mixt. Nny continued to plow through the monsters heading deep inside the academy to search for someone...

"Yes." Rako said "You were very insightful last time... I was surprised especially since you are a mere human. However, maybe this bet will even the playing field." Rako didn't even turn to face the man, just continued to stare at the carnage below with joy.

 

" Alright then... if its our only hope of getting out of here alive then I want to come... lets go Shero." Phisoxa said looking over at Shero was still a bit scared by the whole ordeal that was happening beyond the walls of their room. Phisoxa stepped forward and grabbed onto the man's hand and shook it as well.

 

Robert was deep in the academy, he had just defeated another creature, destroying its body with the rifle he took without a second thought. He dropped the rifle since it ran out of ammo and opened a classroom door, inside was about six students cowering in fear. Robert knelt in front of them “It’s okay, you’re going to be okay” he said as he used time magic to send them to safety, as soon as he did one of the creatures came up behind him and went to strike him, without hesitation Robert summoned Silvern as a sword, spun around and sliced the creature into pieces, the unique attributes of Silvern destroyed the body similar to how the rifle did.

“Well I cheated a little, so its stand 22-0” the man said “And what do you mean a mere human? We have been over this, I am far more than any human or demon or god” the man said standing up.

 

"No." Allen stared straight into where he thought the man's eyes were. "You asked me not to lie to you, so I won't. I hold myself to high moral standards and I won't agree to anything permanent until I know if it meets them." He pulled his hand back. "I want to make it out of here, but if I have to choose between death or potentially compromising my integrity. I'd rather die." He turned back to the door and got ready to fight when they broke through. He was ready to die to preserve his integrity, but he was secretly hoping the man would still agree to his terms. "Besides, in all honesty, the fact that you're not giving me a way off your team if I want it, makes me think I shouldn't trust you." Allen thought of Jen, he hoped she'd be proud of him for this, but he was upset to think he might die here and never see her again.

 

The man held onto their hands and waited for Allen.

"You foolish boy, it won't jepordize your integrity! You can trust me that far!" said the man. "Now, grab onto my hand quick and lets go!"

Nny darted through the halls, not finding what he was hoping for and then he found Robert combatting his way through the monsters and doing a good job of it. Nny slashed up some of the ones that were getting closer to the survivors. "Need a hand?" Nny asked Robert plainly.

"Ha, I knew it..." said Rako "And the only thing you are is arogent. Seriously, I don't even have a head that big, and I'm a demon." Rako looked down. "Hmm... Seems like most of them are gone by now."

 

"Fine, but if it does, I'm quitting. That's non-negotiable." Allen reached out and took his hand, relieved that they hadn't left without him. Then he reached for Shero's hand in an attempt to comfort her.

 

The three of them teleported away from danger and into a pocket dimension which was secure from all things save for anything the man wanted there. The man took off his hood to reveal his age was young, possibly in his twentys. He had silver hair and blue eyes. "Now, I'm sorry for all the secrecy, but my name is Legion and I am a Libra. And this is my library." The pocket dimension was a retreat of sorts. It was a massive library filled with all kinds of books. The floor was carpeted but the ceiling was the most interesting. The ceiling was made completely of glass and when looked out of, the stars and bits of the universe could be seen. "This is where I watch the universe, and it is how I learned about all of you. Which is why you will be perfect for my team."

 

"No" Robert said as he turned Silvern into a bladed staff and cut the heads off two creatures before turning it back into a normal sword and stabbing another in the head, all the creatures in that corridor were dead. The bodies of the ones Robert killed turned to ash while the ones Nny took down started regenerating, Robert finished them off to make sure they stayed down. Robert suddenly held Nny against the wall and was ready to stab him with Silvern "Have they injured you?" Robert asked, his voice emotionless and his expression plain, as if he was used to all the fighting.

"I am only being honest" the Man said as energy started to gather slowly at the top of the academy were the two stood.

 

Nny slid his sword between him and Robert and pushed Robert back against another wall. "No..." Suddenly one attempted to attack Nny from behind before Nny quickly blocked the attack and then used fire magic to burn it away. "Are you going to hold me close to you all night, princess, or are we going to get out of here?" asked Nny to Robert.
