Viva la Console Wars!

The issue for Nintendo isn't really the hardware. It's the lack of creativity with the games. Zelda is starting to meet it's end because of uninnovation. It's the same formula constantly repeated. And Mario is also the same formula, but with a tacked-on spin (Sunshine, Galaxy (works better in Galaxy)). What they need are some fesh new characters. Pikmin was surprisingly refreshing and I certainly enjoyed it, but I'd like to see Nintendo really try and show people that they still have their groove instead of whoring their popular characters and relying on hardware innovations.

 

i really had high hopes for the Playstation 3 but everytime i think about getting one there's just nothing that is appealing about it. the games arent' even anything special, i dont' care if Metal Gear Solid 4 is on Playstation 3, i'm not going to waste $500-$600 for a system that doens't have any good games. i also heard from many people that the games that are even worth playing last a week or less. sure they also have Devil May Cry 4, but if it's anything like the other games before it, i'll beat it in 3-4 days, sure it's great, but it doesn't last long enough to really enjoy it. i also heard that in September ALL the PS3s were losing PS2 compatibility which is just stupid, if they want people to buy their system they shouldn't be removing features just to reduce the price, i heard they were also removing quite a few USB ports just for this sole purpose. the main reason that prevents me from picking up the Playstation 3 is that there aren't even that many good games which is what really matters the most. i dont' care if it can go on the Internet and watch videos and stuff, i have a computer for that, i want a game system that has GOOD GAMES. it seems like the Playstation 3 is just aimed at hardcore gamers but i'm not actually sure about that so dont' quote me on that.

also, i dont' know anything about the Xbox360 but it is at least priced lower than the PS3. but i really never heard of any good games on Xbox360 BESIDES Halo. that's the only good game i ever heard came from the Xbox360. i'm not sure if this system is doing better than the PS3 or not.

suprisingly, the Nintendo Wii is the best system in my opinion. just about every game is appealing to me because they actually SEEM very fun. the games aren't focusing on graphics but actually focus more on gameplay which i think is good because playing a boring game with good graphics is like watching a boring movie, it just feels like a chore everytime you play it. the graphics are all colorful and the Wii remote is a fun way to play games, except for some games where it is clearly to your advantage to use the Gamecube controller like Super Smash Bros. Brawl. the Wii is actually the most original system i've seen. it implements something new and has fun gameplay. also, it is priced at HALF the price of a Playstation 3 which makes it more affordable, but for some reason i had a hard time buying this game systems because it was sold out in every store i went to. of course, some games do get repetitive like Wii Sports, but i noticed that it only gets repetitive when you play alone. anyways, the main reason the Wii is better than the Playstation 3 is because the games are ACTUALLY fun, they have multiplayer 7/10 times, and the system and the games are SIGNIFICANTLY less money than the PS3 and the Xbox360.

i really expected ALOT from the Playstation 3 but as more and more time passes, it just seems to become more and more unappealing to me. i was a fan of the Playstation 1 and 2 but i think i'll pass on the Playstation 3, at least until.........

• 1. the price drops
• 2. it has good games

If there 's a debate about whether PS3 is worth getting more than the xbox360 or vica versa,if you look at the previous page at the very top i've posted alot of strong points that might change your mind about the PS3's worth;

 

I didnt really look at the rest of what you said after the part you wrote that "the only reason Xbox is cheaper than ps3 was because it came first."

Although 360 indeed did come first, this wasnt the reason it was cheaper. PS3 had blu-ray, which is DEFINATELY more expensive than a simple dvd player.

You have to really put this war into perspective though. Most people who vouch for the Wii system are younger than 13 or not very involved in videogames. You can see wii caters to these type of people in the commericals, where it shows a bunch of adults who are having a "party" playing a wii game. And wii-sports was clearly meant to do this as well. That being said, im going to make a bold statement. One that will probably get me flamed, but atm I dont care.

I really think this war is about 2 systems, 360 and PS3, and not the wii. Why? THINK ABOUT IT boys and girls, when it comes to memory, graphics, and general game quality, the wii is crushed by both the 360 and the ps3.

Right now, I believe the 360 is the best system. Its not the better system, not the cooler one if you will, but its cheaper than the ps3, the graphics are the same (pretty much) and because it came out earlier, its not only in more homes, but it has a bigger game library. HOWEVER, I believe that if the ps3 got a better start, (slightly lower prices, earlier release,) it would be better than 360. Its got the potential, but its fighting a harder battle imo because 360 got a head start.

 

I like the way you put that and i agree that the wii isn't in this.It doesn't compete with either of the other systems because otherwise it would be crushed.It is a little legue of its own.Please read the rest of the things i said and you might understand my view a bit better.I personally think they both have strenghts and weaknesses that place them at a stuggle for the top.

Actually now that I read all of it I see that this these systems are pretty much equals. I hate to put it this way, but when it comes down to it, I feel as though the ps3 is sharper around the edges. I own a 360 and I love it for the games I have available to me, but even I want a ps3.

 

Yes i've converted someone.If you think about it consols are like religions(I'll never be religious so this is as close as i'll get) and my statement above is like the ultimate converting tool.

Im still waiting for the 'Pikmin' of the Wii. Not literally of course. I mean that I want a new series that does something other then the usual platforming and action.Im sure something like that will come eventually, but it would be nice to see Nintendo say something about going in a new direction that doesnt involve Mii characters and have the words "Wii" in the title. With the motion plus im hoping they take full advantage and try to make more FPS and action games that repond well.

Twlight princess perhaps, due to the rupee overload. But in my opinion Wind Waker was wonderful. The colours were vibrant and displayed the world well. The tunes were amazing, the side quests could take years to finish and the story mode was fantastic. For once I pitied Ganon, and wanted to go along with his plan.

 

Yeah, I get your point on Mario. He has had a few too many games.
