Virtual Hell

Rai, with one of his arms searing in pain, continued to fight. But with every swing, the pain in his arm spiked. He couldn't fight anymore, and he had only defeated 2 monsters. Still keeping his guard up, Rai searched around for a place to runaway to. It wasn't until he spotted a forest nearby that he hatched a plan. He dropped his guard and began sprinting towards the closest tree; tall and thick. Just what he needed. He hastily began to climb up the trunk of the tree until he reached a branch sturdy enough to lift him. He waited patiently until the creatures caught up with him and were underneath the branch. He mustered up all of his strength, backflipped off the branch, and sliced it with his katanas, sending it crashing on top of the creatures. A small wave of relief washed over him as he sat down, clutching his arm in pain. Maybe I should look for a town... he thought.

 

Sammy didn't say anything to Nick's eerie prediction about the nonexistence of towns. She stiffened when Nick wanted to get better acquainted. "I'm Lost_Fire. But you can call me Fire if you wish. Also, I think you should be more cautious with your personal information," she said with a sneer. My, I've found an innocent one. She didn't shake his hand.

 

Civia grabbed the rat's snout and the lower jaw then tried to pry it open. She hissed in pain as the teeth slowly left her skin. They weren't that deep, but deeper than a mere paper cut. The rat was stiff like a board, making it all that hard to pry it open.

"Get off me..." she muttered harshly to nothing. She hissed again.

Finally, the rat's jaws gave way and let go of her. She threw the rat away and it hit the trunk of a thick tree. She slowly got up to her feet, losing balance once or twice because of her wound. When she got up, she thought immediately: "Town."

She began limping forwards and stopped a few meters away when she heard rustling and a few monsters fall from a tree, dead. She looked at the tree curiously.

Laurence was just heading for the trash can when he passed by Michael's secretary, Nox. She was doing something on her computer. Oddly curious, he walked behind Nox and stared curiously at her work. He saw the lights, and recognized one as Civia; not that the light outlines her figure or anything, he simply knew where his house was located when from above.

"What's all that for?" He asks, a bit cautiously, if you will.

Laurence continues observing the screen, figuring out which lights were which.

 

Nick pulled his hand away as he figured out that 'Fire', As she wished to be called, Wasn't the hand-shake type. "It's just my first name, it's not like anyone could use it against me" He said with a know-it-all tone. Wonder if Civia is online somewhere.. He thought. As they continued forward, Nick spotted a small lake off to the east. Upon seeing it, high eyes lit up, and he darted full-speed towards it. "Oh, Sweet Relief!" He screamed before shoving his face into the (most likely dirty) water source and inhaling more water than he had ever had in one sitting. He pulled his head out, gasping for air. "Oh, that is SO much better!" he said to himself.

 

The pain in Rai's arm was starting to settle, so he stood up and looked around. "Where should I go?" he said to himself as he crossed his arms in thought. After a brief moment, he looked to his right and said, "Well, I might as well head deeper into the forest." He sheathed his katanas and began walking deeper into the forest.

 

Nox was so engrossed in watching the blue dots move about that she flinched when Laurence came up behind her. "A few of us are gathering information on the players," she said simply, still startled and somewhat annoyed by Laurence's sudden appearance. Almost immediately after she said that, she remembered that Laurence had a daughter that was a player. "Perhaps you could supply some of that information regarding your child," she suggested as she turned around to look at him. "No doubt, that would help ease the work done by the others."

Sammy let go of Nick a little hesitantly as he ran out of her grasp to the water. Well, I guess he can walk by himself now. She tilted her head watching him gulp down the water and said,"Should you really be doing that? You don't even know if it's been contaminated." It was then that she realized that her hood was down. Awww man....no wonder why I was starting to feel a little hot. Better rectify that problem. she thought to herself as she quickly pulled up her hood, hiding her face in darkness.

 

Nick looked back at Sammy, water dripping off of his face. "Contaminated? Who cares if it's contaminated? I Needed some freakin' water, dammit!" He yelled. Nick stood up, feeling rejuvenated, relieved, and sick all at the same time. "Alrighty, Onward!" he said cheerfully, pointing ahead of himself. After a bit of walking, Nick began to talk to himself. "Why was it so easy to get out of this game the first time, and then the second i'm still here like 2 or 3 hours later? Friggin' ridiculous.." He then closed his eyes and thought about his reasoning behind signing up for this beta in the first place.

 

The kid was starting to get on her nerves. No doubt he was younger than her. And if he wasn't, Sammy would be very surprised. However, there really wasn't much of a choice but to continue walking with him. She didn't say anything to his remark about being thirsty but took a ganter at the query about the passage of time. "I wonder time in here really is the same passage of time in the real world. If it is, I probably can't play this game anymore. Maybe time passes in here a little differently."

 

"Yeah, Probably. Hopefully We'll--" Nick stopped and looked ahead "No-Freakin'-Way! I think I see a town up ahead!" He said joyfully. "I don't know about you, but I'm headin' up there!" He then sped towards the town he may have seen. He was hoping, however, that it wasn't just some kind of mirage. He finally made it up to it, and to his surprise, it wasn't. It was a small place, with just a few little huts scattered around the area. "Eh, it's more of a village than anything." Nick looked around for anyone that may live there. Nothing. "Uh, hello? Anybody there?" He yelled. "Hm. Nobody's home. Oh well, time for a breather." He said. He picked a hut to lie down in. his one was relatively small, red, and in good shape, unlike the rest of them. He plopped himself onto the ground and dozed off.

 

Civia decided to disregard the tree and move on, limping on her way. Of course, she was still a bit wary of it. She clutches her thigh in pain, the teeth marks still stinging.

"Oh. Then in that case, I don't need to do that much work." Laurence smiled slightly. "Submit straight to the boss?" He asks, keeping the smile. He cannot help but keep looking at the steady red dot that meant Civia, worried for her.

 

Civia's a steady red dot. Since she's playing.

"That won't be necessary. I'm the one that organizes all the information. Now, what is your address?" Nox asked him as she swiveled back around to enter in the information. She opened the small tag by the red dot that was Civia and awaited Laurence's reply.

Sammy watched in amazement as Nick suddenly bolted forward shouting nonsense about a town. All she could see was more road and a plain of grass with more forest. Is he on a trip? I warned him about the water... She watched in amusement as he flitted here and there babbling about houses before laying down on the ground below a tree no doubt thinking he was on a bed. Sammy smiled and chuckled watching him hallucinate before going to join him sitting down under the tree. Humoring him, she asked,"How old are you?" wondering if Aeon would really allow young children to play such a dangerous game.

 

"16, why?" He said, with a dazed, almost drunken tone in his voice. "Ya got a problem? Huh? You think just because I wanna lie down that I'm WEIRD or somethin' little miss 'I'm too good to lie down'?" Nick was obviously delirious from consuming the contaminated water earlier. "Look, lady! You don't like me? Fine, go along with your busine---" He then fell to his knees and vomited on the ground. "Woah, momma, thats not a perty sign.." He said. "Maybe the jesus-water was bad." He then fell onto his back. "I'm gonna stay here for a sec. You go...do whatever" He said, dozing off.

 

"16. Old enough to be more than just a teenager. But too young to be considered an adult," she said quietly. Sammy ignored his accusations, thinking them too ridiculous to answer to and knowing that he was just crazy from the water. She didn't bother turning to him when she heard him vomit. "I'll stay. Only because I don't think you're capable of being alone now," she replied to him. "Children shouldn't be playing such dangerous games."

 

"Oh, is that all?" Laurence asks, but waits for no answer. "My address is..."

After replying, he smiles. "I'll go back now. You have fun with that. Just tell me if you need anything else other than an address." and walks away.

OOC: Sorry. ^^; Pretend that ... is his address.

Nox entered the information in and went back to watching the colored dots on the screen. She didn't say goodbye to Laurence when he left. I probably will need more information than just an address. However, that can come later. For now, all we need is a fixed location that we know the players will be at. Mr. Aeon will decide what happens next. she thought.

 

Michael sat back, pleased with the updates he made to the game server. He flipped a newly-programmed switch, and the words "ITEMS INITIALIZED" appeared on the screen of his device. Smiling slightly, he flipped a second switch, with "TOWNS: BEGAL, FALA, JOLUSI CREATED" appearing. He forwarded the update to his Hunters, keeping them updated on the additions he was making, as well as including where each town was located. Fala was in the forest, Begal near a lake, and Jolusi at the base of the mountains.
He typed into his device once more.

Rei tore her way through the remaining rats trying to attack her, then turned and ran to the other player's side to help him. "You take one, I'll take the other?" she said to him, not taking her eyes of the crazed rats.
Her concentration broke for a moment when her HUD notified her of five Potions being added to her inventory. The hell...? she thought, but ignored it for now and focused once again on the monsters.

 

Civia limped helplessly, the teeth marks still stinging. She grunts in pain and, unexpectedly, trips over a rock. Only, it wasn't really a rock. She looked and saw it was a vial of green liquid. Actually, no, 5 vials of green liquid, bubbling slightly.

"What the hell...?" She mutters softly, getting to her knees. She turns to face the vials and picks one up, making the liquid spin to see if it does anything else aside from bubble. It only bubbles peacefully.

Suddenly, a pop-up window-like thing appears right in front of her like a hologram. It reads "Potion. A healing item commonly found around and about places. Not very good at healing players in critical life. Deals with wounds."

Not hesitating (the cut was annoying), she pulled off the cork and gulped down a potion. It wasn't the best tasting thing in the world, but it was alright. She vaguely tastes old leather or something of the sort, the bubbling making it a bit disgusting. She ignores her impulse to spit it all out, forcing herself to gulp it down. She then shudders with a tingling feeling, like she just ate something bad.

"Have to get used to it..." She mutters and looks at her thigh. Healed.

She pockets/bags the next few potions and straightens herself. Civia checks herself and sees if she is well prepared.

 

With one rat being fought by the female player who was in battle with him, Leo smashed his blade onto the rat before him instantly crushing it. The 5 Potions that where added to his inventory was somewhat random, he decided to open his inventory as the female player finished her fight. Guess it's not completely realistic, he thought as he noticed the equipment menu and began looking through that as well.

 

Nick woke up, his head pounding. "Oh, what happened?" He asked himself. "He sat up, and felt something in his lap. 5 vials of a green, somewhat bubbly fluid. "Looks like a potion or something." He put them into the bag he had on his waist. "Oh, God, my head!" He yelled, gripping his head with both hands. He got up, and noticed that he was in a town. A very empty town, at that. He spotted a sign, it read 'BEGAL'. He looked toward the other player, "Hey, Fire, was this here before?" He asked, confused.

 

As Rai was walking, he stopped and noticed about 5 vials of green fluid. "Hmm... A potion, maybe?" he thought. He had yet to see an RPG game without healing items. Even if it WAS Virtual Reality. He glanced at his arm for a moment and popped open one of the potions, wanting to be at full strength in case more creatures come. He drank the potion and nearly spit it out. This is disgusting! he thought. Despite the taste, Rai actually felt better. "At least it works."

As he continued walking, Rai spotted a sign. He crouched down to read it: "Town of Fala. Straight ahead." he read. Rai almost smiled. "Finally! A town!" He bolted in the same direction of the sign, eager to get some rest.

Chris felt his phone vibrate. He pulled it out and checked it; there was a message from Micheal. "So, the towns have been created..." He finally approached one of the player's houses. His name's... Raiden, I think. he thought to himself. He marked the location on his phone and sent it back to Micheal's database.
