Man, what is it with people these days? A lot of humans I've seen or met recently are starting to tick me off. I mean, who does something like this, and then gets it on video?

They have no right to beat that kid for being different, for having a different sexual preference. Really pisses me off.

And then the kid who attacked only had a three day suspension? Fricken people . . .

    Article.

There's also a video in here, and it's of the teenager getting beat up, watch at your own discresion please.

Well, it looks like we know where this society is heading after life.

It simply astounds me how nobody does anything to help or stop these violent acts.
In fact I do believe one the news channels actually set up a "fake bully scene" to see if any one would help. 30 min-1 hour, people just walk on by.

Another man in NY dies on the streets and his corps lies on the sidewalk for 3 hours until someone calls 911.

It seems people have become detached form helping do the fear of getting involved in some negative way, which is a shame. But some people out there get involved and help, and my hat tips off to those individuals that do.

Three-day suspension? I don't think so. If a school is seriously only considering a three-day suspsension, that school needs it's staff checked on. You don't just let a thing like that go without actually taking action. And no duh it's a hate crime. You don't just wait in the classroom and suddenly beat up another kid without reason. I say send that kid to juvie, or better yet, send me over there. I'll teach that idiot what it's like to be beaten up for no reason.

I don't think I could stomach just standing there and doing nothing. Especially if that guy got a concusion and a chipped tooth(although I think the concusion takes priority). I'd feel really dirty and disgusting if I just let someone get bullied for no reason

My my, violent one are we? This doesn't make me any happy either, and I would not sit around and do nothing. I would go for help. I understand "get involved". But I would not be foolish enough to get myself hurt or killed over it. I don't mean to sound uncaring, but I know for a fact violence is not cured by more violence. Gandhi even knew the truth of this. And with non-violence, he was able to help his country and make an impact.

Well, seeing things like this really make me want to let them have a taste of their own medicine.
But I don't mean getting in there and fighting back. I would go in and restrain the guy. I'm not going to help someone by beating up the beater

3 day suspension? Really? I know someone (I refuse to say her name) that put a teacher's life in danger by getting caught putting chemicals in the teachers coffee and the school gave her a 4 day suspension.
Those kids should have been expelled or something.

Heh, expelled is too good for them. And if it is legally found as a hate crime, which it is, depending on the state, that kid can and will go to juvie or prison

It's hard to swallow, but people are animals.
Yeah, this is wrong, but they are just dumb kids.
Obviously someone has not brought up their kid right. Not much more to say (and yes, its not punishment enough, but it's school... they can't really do much more)

Kids? I don't think they really qualify as a kid. A kid can make mistakes and such, and start fights over childish stuff, but they don't do it because they no better or not. This person knew what he was doing without a second thought. He beat that kid to a pulp. They're at the age that they need to take full responsability for their actions

Well, at least the kid's still alive.
I just hope this doesn't give him any suicidal thoughts, because that would be terrible.

I swear, every time I turn around, there's always something about a homosexual being picked on.

I'm starting to believe that it's the parents of the bullies that instill into the minds of their kids that they should beat up (or even kill) gays/lesbians. If somebody has a different sexual preference, then it's their situation. It's not like as soon as you turn your back to them, the gay kid is going to make a move on you.

These kids find it funny that a kid is getting beat senseless for doing no harm to anybody and just liking the same sex. The real question is: Why do these people care so much?

It enrages me that a student will cheer the bully on, even laugh, and take a video of the event. It's not funny. It never will be.

Does anyone else notice a trend? There seem to be an increasing amount of cases of gay/lesbian kids committing suicide because of being harassed or getting beat up by other kids. Do kids really find this funny? Or cool?

I have to agree. The problem lies in the previous generation. It is normal for humans to fear the unknown. And while our parents grew up, homosexuality was a new trend to them. The church and society deemed it wrong, and hated all those who took part of it. My father and a few of my aunts have very strong feelings against homosexuality. But as for me and the new generation, I notice we aren't affected as much. Either because our parents did not instill that fear/hatred into us, or because it simply does not bother/impact us.

Aren't we supposed to discuss the event? :)

I believe that 15 years is still a kid, especially if you do something like this. Being a child is more than just age, it has to do with maturity.

Discuss, not debate. The first page was getting hot.

And "this" to the second comment. The other issue is the lack of maturity in today's generation. It's scares me sometimes when I think, These people are going to run the country? Send me to France now, if that's the case.

    Only three days.
    That really urks me.
Just because a person is different, and loves someone whom you don't, you beat him into submission?
My sister and step-brother are both homosexual, I've grown up around it most of my life, and homosexual people are no different than those that are straight.

The assaulter should've been expelled, in my opinion.

This just pisses me off, just because he's gay doesn't mean he's any less of a human being! How much you wanna bet the bully thought it was his christian duty to make him see the light by beating him to a pulp?

School society and society as whole folks. If your different than what society has set down you are not a human being and deserve to be beaten and humiliated for it.

If I was in this kid's class I would have stood up and done something about it not stand on the sidelines and film it for youtube.

This is why I don't have a whole lot of faith in humanity right now.

That kid wiould get expelled in this country. And since ourt school work together in one region, it would get tough going to a different school...

That put aside, this happens way too much. I think it's terrible if bullying gets taped, which seems to be a trend right now. To me, however, I think the teachers/school council/whatever are not acting strict enough. At all. It's like they secretly agree with qhat the bully has been doing.
