Incidentally, Satriani has been nominated for best rock instrumental performance almost every year since 1989 (the only three years since then he hasn't been nominated were 92, 96 and 07.) He hasn't won one yet, but generally the people that win instead deserve it just as much as he does.

Anyway, whether you hear it or not, the point is that the section Satriani is sueing for IS basically identical to his song (which was released 3 years before Coldplay's song) as proven by music theory, not just by ear. By ear, I could understand not understanding the similarities.

Also, by the way, don't try to argue sales/hits/whatever, as they don't prove anything more than how much mainstream appeal the artist has. Satriani is by and far a better and more influencial musician than the should-be nobodies in Coldplay.

There's some Cat Stevens song from the 70's that sounds a lot like both of them too. But it's no surprise that Coldplay is finally getting a lawsuit slapped on them; they've been copying other band's sounds for years. I mean come on, how hard is the pretentious little snot/singer trying to be Bono?

But like others have said, some ****** mainstream song will probably win, but I think something by Bright Eyes would be great. Their songs have such depth. o:
