This is something that slightly annoys me, but I don't hate it, it's just I like to try and guess if I know who the VA is from show to show, but when someone uses the same voice for everything, to me it takes the enjoyment out of it a little.

I know I am nitpicking at this and some of them are fun to listen too (Like James Woods) but I like VAs who give each character a different voice.

And I guess someone them really can't help but use the same voice (Which is why it's only minor annoying).

Now what are you're views on VAs who use the same voice all the time?

Often it's not up to the voice actor, the director people decide what kind of voice you should use. Like with Nolan North, he has done a TON of voices in hundreds of video games, he has a fairly decent range of different voices, but after Uncharted he seems to mostly just get requests for the Nathan Drake voice. It can take me out of an experience a bit, thinking of another character because I recognise the voice. But really, if the voice actor does have range, but the directors just want a certain voice, I really can't blame the voice actors.

I hate it...usually, Mainly, if the person uses a similar voice in a lot of different series. It really breaks immersion when, for example, I'm trying to play Devil May Cry 4, and all I hear is Ichigo from Bleach, since they sound the exact same.

JOHNNY YONG BOSCH I'M LOOKING AT YOU

But for the people who don't do a ton of different series, its actually kinda cool to hear the same voice. Its almost like...a cameo? I dunno how to describe it.

I understand that a VA will sound somewhat similar from character-to-character, but it seems kind of half-assed when you basically use the same voice style for every character you do. An example have would be Yuri Lowenthal. I first heard his voice in Naruto as the character Sasuke. Then he was a VA in Soul Calibur V as Patroklos. Both Sasuke and Patroklos sound almost if not exactly the same. Another example would be, like Hayabusa said, Johnny Yong Bosch. I never played DMC4, but my gripe was that when he played Zero in Marvel vs Capcom 3. I kept thinking to myself: "Is that Ichigo underneath that robot?".

They're good VA's, just not varied.

I noticed Vic Mignogna has one of those voices. Its still good and recognizable, but it'd be nice to see it mixed up a bit.
Some voice actors are chosen because of their voice. (Tom Hanks, James Woods, Danny Devito)

I actually recently watched a stage show called "Talking to Myself" with James Arnold Taylor (Voiced Ratchet from Ratchet and Clank, Tidus from FFX, and current voice of Fred Flintstone)
He does awesome impersonations of Marty mcfly and other celebrities.

Prime example. When I play Dissidia, I have some what of a hard time listening to Firion since that's Bosch as well. But he kind of does it differently, yet you can still hear the Ichigo in his voice. Not sure if Durarara!! has made a complete English release yet, but he plays Izaya, and it' going to be the same thing all over again.

Even though it can be annoying at times, some can be cool when they sound the same. I really like how Flynn has Axel and Rino in the same tone. Must be because the games were produced by the same company.

One particular VA has captured the hearts of many people, but has one of these voices... everyone, I present to you...

    VIC MIGNOGNA.

I find it annoying when someone like him, who did a pretty good job voicing Edward Elric, use the same voice for EVERY other character they have and still get called one of the best VAs of all time.

Now I know other VAs have a bad habit of doing this, but this was the one VA almost everyone has heard of, thus I used him as an example.

Nothing we can do about it, though. If we point it out, fangirls will abuse the absoloute sh*t out of you, I speak from experience.

I don't watch enough anime, tv, or play enough games to notice this, but I usually don't mind it. I don't expect certain people to be able to do various voices. Johnny Young Bosch never bothered me though (maybe it's because I just love him so much<3) and I would love for him to do more stuff. I remember watching Kekkeishi or whatever it's called and trying to pinpoint the voice of the main character for so long before I realized it was Vic M-something. The thing that really annoys me is when I don't think the voice matches. When I heard Kari from Digimon and saw Cherise from S-CRY-ed, it didn't match at all. Some people are amazing, though. John Dimaggio as Joker? I didn't hear any Bender in there. Quinton Flynn is easily recognizable, but like Johnny, or even Steven Blum, it doesn't bother me. Christhor has a point, though. In the same way that actors are type-set in the same role and it sticks with them (here's looking at you, Daniel Radcliff), VA's probably suffer the same thing. Matt Hill as the Joker, for example.

Renton, Xiba, Claus and Vash have something to say about that.

Quinton Flynn and Steven Blum are much worse about using similar voices for all of their characters than Johnny will ever be. Especially Quinton (seriously, there's very little variation between characters like Iruka, Raiden and Axle). Though I suspect that Quinton mostly gets a pass because of Kingdom Hearts.....
