Van Helsing

Edward looked around as the procession of mourners started to thin.

"This place really is God forsaken, isn't it?" he said softly.

Van Helsing only nodded.

 

Hannah looked up only to see Van Helsing accompanied by another, rather handsome, man. Why is he back so soon? She thought grudgingly as she stood and moved out of sight.

OOC: again!

Van Helsing: That's why you're coming with me.
Carl: The hell be damned that I am.
Van Helsing: You cursed. Not very well, mind you, but you're a monk. You shouldn't curse at all.
Carl: Actually, I'm still just a friar. I can curse all I want, dammit.

 

"I'd recognize that hood anywhere!" Van Helsing said with a grin as Elizabeth came over to his horse grudgingly. "I see the bad news here... was it someone I knew?"

She's going to wonder if I mean the killer or the victim... he thought, but let her decide before saying more. Edward kept silent for now.

"He worked at the inn." Hannah mumbled. "What are you doing back here?" She asked Van Helsing, though her eyes drifted to the new man.

Mr. Hyde: You're a big one. You'll be hard to digest.
Van Helsing: I'd hate to be such a nuisance

 

"Got a rumor that there was vampire trouble from Rome," Van Helsing replied, and dismounted his horse so his face was purposefully only inched from Elizabeth's. "Any ideas about that?"

 

"None." Hannah replied coolly, though she was getting nervous. "I was sleeping when it happened. This isn't you town. Can't you just leave us alone?" She stared right back at Van Helsing, removing her hood.

BIC: There was an awkward silence between Van Helsing and Elizabeth. Edward dismounted Lexi and held out his hand.

"Hi, my name is Edward," he said, trying to be polite. "Mr. Van Helsing offered to give me a ride here last night when he realized he had to turn around and come back. It's a pleasure to meet you."

 

Good God, who does she think she is?!Van Helsing thought angrily, though he kept a straight, bland face. He stepped back and swallowed his retort, however, when Edward had spoken up.

That's it,he thought now. Get her to calm down so she can help me find Jinx instead of want to throw me out.

 

Hannah did not take Edward's hand. "I'm Elizabeth." She said, remembering the name she'd given to Van Helsing. "Since it's already happened," She looked back at Van Helsing. "Why stay?"

BIC: "Look, if you're going to be just as judging, condemning, and b.itchy as every other girl in this town, you may as well go your own way and not help me," Van Helsing snapped, unable to control himself.

 

Edward put his hand down, seeing that Elizabeth really didn't want to be friendly. That's alright, he thought. Wouldn't want to bother her...

He gasped at Van Helsing's rude comment, and then tried to clear the air. "Why don't we all go have a drink and send Lexi to the stables? I know I'm tired from that long ride."

 

"I don't want to help you!" Hannah retorted,ignoring Edward. "What would make you think I want to be near you! Someone like you has no understanding for someone like me." Angry tears brimmed her eyes. "If you can't help me, than leave me alone. No one can." She turned on her heel and began to walk away.

 

Van Helsing ran after the girl, grabbing her shoulders and spinning her around to face him. He held her still when she tried to struggle away. She was a foot or so shorter than him, and when she looked up, she could see under the brim of his hat and into his eyes.

"I said I need your help," he said quietly. "The werewolf that turned that family came directly from Dracula. That means he's around here somewhere. I need someone who knows that land, the terrain, the area... I need youto help me... please."

 

Edward stood where he was, holding Lexi's reigns as Van Helsing ran away from her.

"Easy, girl," he said, watching the two talk. "Let's see if they'll decide to get along... then we can get some food."

Hannah found it hard to look away. "I-...." She felt a tear roll down her cheek. "I'll do what I can."

Carl: What are we doing here? Why is it so important to kill this Dracula anyway?
Van Helsing: Because he's the son of the devil.
Carl: I mean besides that.
Van Helsing: Because if we kill him, anything bitten by him or created will also die.
