Van Helsing

Jinx frowned, "Well, under normal vampire's heal time, yeah. But the whole blood factor... I'm not actully sure what's going to happen."

 

"I see," Van Helsing replied, guiding Lexi over a bump in the road slowly so as not to disturb the carriage she was slowly pulling along. "I bet Edward would drain the entire city of blood if Hannah need some to get better!"

 

"Unfortunetly, yeah, he would." Jinx seemed to be in thought for a little. "Maybe that's another reason we need to go as quickly as we can." she added, "We don't want to be responsible for Rome becoming a ghost city."

 

Hannah tensed but didn't say anything.

"Yes." Beatrice replied. "He's pulled things much heavier than a carriage."

 

"It might be an improvement!" Van Helsing joked, and then cleared his throat. "No, Rome is a lovely city. I always hate leaving it."

 

"Good," Edward said to Beatrice, not looking at Hannah. "I'm sure Van Helsing will want to leave by nightfall."

 

"It is a lovely city. I can't believe I've never been here. I mean with all the people..." Jinx cut herself off before she could say anything stupid, "I'm glad we got to stop here, it's very nice. Besides, you know, the crazed vampire hunter kid. Do you think his sister is going to be okay?"

 

"No," Van Helsing spoke. "She won't be. She will have to try and find him eventually and no one will know what happened to him... want to why?"

 

"I know no one can know how he died or why..." Jinx answered quickly, "I just wish we could help that poor girl... she didn't do anything but now she's been scared out of her mind and has lost a brother..." she looked down at her hands, "Evil and stupid as he was, it's not her fault, it's ours..."

 

"I'm sure he will." Beatrice agreed. "Hannah, are you okay?"

"Yeah; perfect." Hannah mumbled, turning on her side, wincing, so that her back was to Beatrice. "Could you... wait outside?"

It took Beatrice a moment, but she undestood. "Okay." She headed out of the room, wishing there was more she could do.

"Her smell was making me crazy..." Hannah muttered in explination to Edward.

 

"I'll make Edward get rid of the body... or what's left of it," Van Helsing said. "As for the sister, yes, it is our fault... but I don't know what to do about it."

 

"Really?" Edward asked. "Why? Is she bleeding?"

 

"I know... but it feels wrong to just leave her with all this trauma and nothing else." Jinx breathed out harshly, annoyed. "of course, anything we do will probably hurt her more, what a horrid way to leave someone, right?"

 

"Like I said," Van Helsing sighed. "There isn't much we can do."

They rounded the corner to the stables now, stopping the carriages behind it so they could detach the two carriages and hook up Sorin as well.

"I guess someone should check on Hannah and Edward," he said now.

 

"I'll go." Jinx vollunteered, "I need to make sure I'm okay with her anyway." she hopped down and walked into the inn.

Carl clambed down too, "So, what was all that about a guy and leaving a girl without her brother?" he asked Van Helsing as he walked around to meet him.

 

"She doesn't need to be." Hannah said softly. "I don't want to explain it now."

 

"It's okay," Edward spoke, wanting to reach out and hold her, but stopping himself. "I understand. I.. wait..." he stood and walked to the window.

"Yeah," he said to the window. "They're back. I can see the carriages from here. Van Helsing will want to leave soon."

 

Van Helsing smiled when Jinx left and turned to Carl. "Well, I kind of lied when I said you didn't miss anything this afternoon. We had an... accident with another vampire hunter, and, well... let's just say his little sister is in much better condition than him now."

 

"Then let's go." Hannah said, opening her eyes. "I don't want to slow us down." She sat up carefully, biting her tongue against the pain that flared in her back.

 

"No," Edward said, going over to the bed again and pushign her back down onto the pillows. "You're in no shape for a long, bumping carriage ride and you know it."
