Van Helsing

"I didn't say it would be easy," Edward replied with a smile. "But that's alright... I'll work on it with you. God knows I haven't told you everything either."

 

Carl laughed, "Yes yes, but when have you ever needed something from me I didn't have because I take so long to prepare?" he asked. "sun down will be enough time for me."

Jinx nodded, "Sounds good to me too. I'd love to see the sunset here anway." she answered Van Helsing's silent question.

 

"That's fine. You don't have to tell me everything." Hannah pulled up her hood. "We should probably catch up with the others."

 

"Yeah, let's go," Edward said, standing and opening the door for her. "Do you have all your stuff?"

 

"Go on your way, then, Carl," Van Helsing said now. "I'm sure you have... a preparing procces or something that doesn't involve chatting in a horse stable."

 

Carl stood up, "Aw, so true. I'll meet you guys back here at about sundown." he said, walking back to the church.

"so, what is there to do in Rome for a day?" Jinx asked,

 

Hannah patted her coat pocket. "Yeah." She left the room with Edward.

 

"Well, if you ask for my honest opinion," Van Helsing said after Carl left. "Paris would be a much better place to spend an extra day... especially for you."

 

"You know," Edward said as they left the inn and walked toward the stables, "I heard of this place in Paris that's kind of interesting..."

 

"why Paris?" Jinx asked, curiously.

 

"Paris? Aren't there lots of people there?" Hannah questioned. A familiar scent drifted on the air to Hannah. Her eyes widened, fading to gold.

 

Angelyn was walking to meet up with her friends when she caught sight of Hannah. She paused, staring at Hannah to make sure it was really the person she thought it was. I've got to tell Elijah! She started running back to the butcher shop.

 

"Well, not to cliche or stereotype you or anything," Van Helsing began carefully, "but they have this theatre there in the city... it's actually called the Theatre des Vampires. Funny, huh? Well, rumour is as well as some mortals that go there, lots of vampires go every night past nine. And they watch live performences of other vampires bleeding out there victims... on the stage! Crazy, isn't it?"

 

"There's a place," Edward began. "Called the Theatre des Vampires in Paris. Quite an inconspicuous name, huh? I wouldn't be surprised if Van Helsing knew all about it. Anyway, mortal people and vampires go there every night to watch live shows on the stage. Only the vampires set up the performences: they're actual live changings of victims. Nasty place, isn't it? Kind of ruins the lovely facade of Paris, France if you ask me."

 

Jinx opened her mouth to say something but couldn't for a moment. "Are you joking?" she finally asked, queitly.

 

"No," Van Helsing replied with a small smile. "Pretty twisted, huh?"

 

"Why would I want to go there?" Jinx asked, curtly. "that is disgusting."

 

Hannah bit her lip, fighting the urge to go after Angelyn. "Yeah... twisted...." Her stomach churned at the thought, and she had an image of herself on stage with Angelyn.

 

Angelyn called for Elijah as she got inside the butcher shop.

"What?" Elijah came to the front room.

"I- I saw that girl again. The one from last night." Angelyn stammered.

"Where?" Elijah asked.

"Headed towards the stable. She was with a guy." Angelyn embraced her brother tightly.

"Relax. I'll get her. She got away one time, I won't let that happen again." Elijah detached himself from Angelyn and went to the back room to gather his things.

 

"It... it was kind of supposed to be a joke..." Van Helsing began slowly. "I guess it was a bad one, huh? Sorry. I'm not used to... being kind to someone like... well, nevermind. Just a thought..."
