Van Helsing

"Ah, Hannah," Van Helsing began. "This is my good friend, Carl, who will be joining us on our way back to Transylvania. Unfortunately, the Order wants me to go back to the village we came from the kill the last of the werewolves in that family... then Carl can help us find Dracula."

 

Edward flinched when Van Helsing mentioned the werewolf family, and hoped Hannah couldn't tell. By hell he'll finish my little sister, he thought. I don't know why I care, but I can't see him do it again!

 

"Don't worry about hiding yourr hands." Jinx said, so quietly only Hannah could hear her, as she cast a simple glamor over the marks on her hands so they appeared normal. "Sure." she said, louder, walking into the room.

Carl looked at Hannah, taking in how pale she was and her oddly colored eyes. What is it that Van Helsing isn't telling me. What is wrong with these 'friends' of his? But he swallowed his thoughts and tried to smile at her. "Nice to meet you Ms.Hannah." he greeted her, holding out his hand to shake her's.

 

Hannah tentatively shook Carl's hand. Even if he couldn't see the marks, he'd feel the cold, and that upset Hannah just as much. "You too." She said, though she wasn't sure if she believed it. A church member was hardly going to be a friend of hers.

 

"When, then, now that that's settled," Van Helsing said, smiling. "We will see you in the morning, Carl. Goodnight to the rest of... wait," he paused. "Where the hell is Beatrice?"

 

"Don't stay out too late," Edward whispered against Hannah's ear before he went around her to sit on his bed again.

 

Carl repressed the shiver from her hand. yes, there it is. They aren't normal at all. But if they are what I'm thinking... why would Van helsing be their friend? he hid his thoughts again from his face as he let go of her cold hand.

 

"We won't be out long." Hannah to everyone, taking Jinx's hand and leaving. Once they were out the door safely, Hannah let go of Jinx, biting her tongue against the pain. "That hurt...."

 

"I know, we'll fix it as fast as we can." Jinx said, comfortingly. "We'll go get something to counter act that cross and, " she grinned, "We'll do it at our speed, if you can run."

 

Van Helsing lay on his bed after he put out all the candles. He knew Edward was still awake.

 

She better be back soon, thought Edward as he lay in the dark. I will go out and find her if it gets too late... maybe I worry too much...

 

Carl left the room after saying good bye to Edward and Van Helsing. He hurried past the two girls, say a quick, "Have a good evening." before leaving.

 

A small smile crossed Hannah's lips. "It's been a while since I've done that." She said after Carl had passed. "Besides, it's my hands that are hurt, not my legs. I'm up for some speed."

 

"Thank the Gods because, sorry, but those horses are slow." Jinx grinned, "Alright, let's go find the local witch. I hope Rome has one, they'll be the best place to start looking for a small sin." and she took off, Hannah running with her, both almost blurred by their speed.

 

"Why are we sinking to that?" Hannah asked, her breath even as they ran. "I don't agree with those hags' methods."

 

Jinx still steered them towards the local witch's house. "What's wrong with a witch? usually they're just lonely old women who happen to sell some less then common place things." she came to a stop infront of the house, a few miles away from most of the towns people. "If you don't want to get what we need from here, where would you like to go?"

 

Hannah stood rooted in front of the house. "I just get the creeps from them."

 

Jinx had to agree with that, "Well, they do use some of the same kinds of things as the church, just in a less.... eh, 'holy' manner. I'll go in and look by myself if you want to stay out here. It'll just be a moment."

 

"Please do." Hannah said, looking up at the clouds to entertain herself.

 

Jinx smiled to herself and walked into the store. "Excuse me, miss." she asked the lady inside. "would you happen to have something opposite a small cross?" she asked, keeping her voice innocent but serious.
