Van Helsing

Hannah stopped outside the room door. "I need to talk to Jinx alone for a moment." She said quietly. "Can you bring her out here for me? I don't really want to wait for the introductions to be over."

 

OOC: jumping back in!

BIC: Jinx looked back at Van Helsing, wishing he could tell what he was trying to tell her silently. Aw well, when in doubt, just ask. "What?"

Carl looked between them, "Hey, what am I missing this time?"

 

"Sure," Edward replied as they reached the door to the room. "And, Hannah," he added, turning to look at her. "Just be careful, okay? And tell me about what happened later if you can. I have a feeling we will leave tomorrow." As he opened the door, Edward leaned down and kissed Hannah lightly on the cheek before hurrying inside and shutting the door shut behind him.

 

Just when Van Helsing was about to speak, Edward slammed himself into the room, shutting the door quickly behind him. The man gave him an embarrassed grin.

"Later," Van Helsing muttered to Jinx, and then spoke up to Edward: "Well! Have you lost her, then?"

 

"No," Edward began, giving Carl's confused look a polite smile. "I... she's outside. She wants to talk to you, Jinx, alone... if that's alright with you."

 

Jinx nodded, "Of course it is." she walked outside to meet Hannah. "What did you want to talk to me about?" she asked, closing the door behind her.

Carl sat down on a chair, decidng he'd be lost in the conversations until they explained it all, so he'd have to wait.

 

Hannah leaned against the wall and sighed. "Let's just say I found a mini- Van Helsing." She lifted her hands, palms up, so Jinx could see the mark from the cross. "I feel sick...."

 

"What happened?" Van Helsing asked.

 

"She passed out and the local butcher's son brought her home," Edward explained, knowing this must sound like the oddest thing in the world. "I don't know what's wrong with her, but Jinx can help. Those people, though... they were very... wierd. They didn't want me to see her at first, but..." he sighed. "Anyway, all is fine now. What's the plan as far as leaving here is concerned?"

 

Jinx put her hand to her mouth, "Oh Gods." she muttered, taking Hannah's hands to examin the marks. She could feel her hands burn a little just feeling the mark. "Hannah..." she began slowly, looking at her directly, "Is this person who you senced when we first came her?"

 

Hannah winced at the contact. She could feel the difference in temperature between her skin and the burn, icy cold versus burning hot. "He knows. Jinx... please, I just want to fix, or find some way to bear with it. I feel horrible, and I don't want to slow any of this down. Van Helsing cannot know, okay? I don't know what he'll do and that worries me."

 

"I think she should determine that in the morning," Van Helsing replied. Carl nodded. "We all should rest and then meet at the stables as if we are ready to leave. Carl..." he turned to the friar. "Do you know where the Vatican wants us to head... a general direction, maybe?"

 

"Yes, I agree with that." Jinx shook her head. "This is between us, I promise." she let Hannah's hands drop and thought for a moment. "Okay, how to counter act something supposedly 'holy'? Well 'sin' would be the most obvious answer, wouldn't it?" she asked Hannah, although her mind was already moving onto how to put sin into a phyiscal form.

 

"Sounds fine," Edward replied, going to sit on his bed and holding his arm. "I need to rest..."

 

Hannah gave Jinx a look and then slid down the wall to crouch on the floor. "How are we gonna manage that? Me going out and killing someone?"

 

Jinx shook her head quickly. "no! of course not. Look, the cross is a small representation of the Holiness in Jesus Christ's death." she explained, ignoring the look she got from Hannah now. "So, you need a small representation of sin. Equal, not more." she stated, thinking again. "Like something simiarly symoblic. A snake, or a broken cross, or something."

 

"Oh, Carl, before you go," Van Helsing spoke as Edward lay down to sleep. "You need to be properly introduced to Hannah."

There was silence for a moment. "Edward," Van Helsing began. "Go see if Hannah is still close so she can meet Carl before he goes back to the Vatican."

 

Edward sat up and sighed. "Fine," he grumbled, and walked to the door. Jinx and Hannah were still in the hallway.

"Sorry," he began, not meeting Hannah's eyes. "Van Helsing wants you to meet Carl before you... you both go out."

 

"I guess we can talk about this later." Hannah said to Jinx and then went in the room, careful to keep her palms out of sight.

 

Edward followed Hannah, standing behind her.
