Van Helsing

"Funny you should ask! I actully was fooling around with a gun and, well here, llook at this." Carl pulld out a silencer, "You put it on the gun and it quiets the shots. Good, eh?"

 

Elijah's father gave the man a scrutinizing look. "What does she look like, sir?"

Elijha closed his hands on the cross. "Hannah Rose," He didn't know if he liked or dislike the look on Hannah's face. "You're being exceptionally difficult." Part of him hated seeing her so scared,and part of him enjoyed it.

 

Hannah tore her eyes away from Elijah. "I'm told I'm good at that." She put on false bravado. Edward... I have to get back to Edward.

 

"She has long, black hair..." Edward began. "As well as pale skin and a thin body... she's has yellow eyes most of the time and isn't the tallest girl in the world. She wasn't feeling well when she left our inn room, either. That's why it's important if you can tell me anything you may know, sir."

 

"Brilliant!" Van Helsing exclaimed, taking the gun from Carl. "But I do enjoy the noise it makes..."

 

"Yes, but your kind walk so loudly, you need all the help surprising things that you can get." Jinx suddenly put in. She smiled to tell them she was just kidding around. "That really is an interesting idea, Carl."

Carl beamed at Van Helsing. "Am I a genius or am I a genius? What would you do without me?" he smirked.

Jinx looked at the clock in the room, wishing Hannah and Edward would hurry back and taht Hannah was okay with whatever it was she had senced or smelt.

 

Elijah's father nodded. "Yeah, I've seen her. In fact, my son brought her here not too long ago. But what are you doing with a girl like that?"

Elijah grabbed Hannah's hands firmly in his free one. "It's a simple question Hannah." The cross touched Hannah's palms and drew back quickly. "All I need is an answer."

 

Hannah yelled, her palm burning. "Three days ago...." She moaned the answer. Why does he even care...?

 

"I suppose so..." Van Helsing mused, looking over at Jinx. I didn't want to tell him about what you and the rest are without your consent first! he tried to tell her with his mind. He sighed. I'll have to talk to her about it later.

 

"She's here?" Edward exclaimed, trying to look over the man's shoulder. "Oh, thank you so much for finding her! I'll just get her and take her home now..." He tried to push past the man to get inside.

 

Elijah's father held Edward back. "I'm afraid you'll have to wait a bit. She's not in the best shape. Travelling, even in the least, wouldn't be good for her. She can stay the night with us."

Elijah met Hannah's eyes. "What are you trying to do? Be a good vampire?" He was perplexed and annoyed at the situation. "You can't be alone. How many are with you?"

 

"Four," Hannah answered quickly. She tried pulling away from Elijah's hold, but moving her hands in the least bit sent shocks of pain through her. "Please, just let me go." She was bothered by the look he was giving her. It seemed like he was deciding if he should keep her alive or not.

 

"With all due respect, sir," Edward began, trying to be patient; he could feel himself wanting to growl, howl, rip, tear, anything in front of him, but he swallowed. "She's been missing and I need to see her. I won't take her anywhere unless I think she really needs to go. Now... would you please let me see the woman... the woman I love?"

 

"Follow me." Elijah's father half grumbled. He knocked on the door that led to Elijah's room. "You've a guest." He said, loud enough for Elijah to hear.

Elijah let go of Hannah, placing the cross back on the beside table. "Not a word." he told her, going to the door. He opened it and looked Edward over. "I take it you know Hannah?"

 

Hannah let her hands fall to her lap and kept her eyes down. She was shaken by the way Elijah's smooth voice could change so menacingly. I just want to leave.... When Elijah opened the door, Hannah looked up. She felt her whole self brighten when she saw Edward. How did he...?

 

"Hannah!" Edward cried, and stepped swiftly over to the bed and picked Hannah up, gathering her in his arms despite the yells of protest from his wound. "We've a new rule," he said a after a moment, holding her back just enough to meet her eyes. "No leaving in the middle of a conversation or when the other is physically incapable to follow. Got it?" Not caring if she responded or not, he squeezed her as tight as he could with his good arm to his chest.

 

Hannah bit her tongue against the pain her hand. "Edward, that hurts." She half moaned.

 

Elijah eyed the two. "Mind introducing me, Hannah?" He felt a sort of resentment towards the man that held Hannah so close. As much as he hated what Hannah was, he found he didn't like her being so near anothe man.

 

"Sorry," Edward apologized, and let her go slightly. "My name is Edward," he began now, turning to the stranger. Just like with Exel, however, Edward got a bad vibe from the man and did not let go of Hannah. "Thank you so much for helping her feel better. We'd better get back to the inn now."

 

Elijah half smiled, half smirked. "Of course. Come by any time, Hannah."

Elijah's father led Hannah and Edward to the door silently.
