Hannah lowered her eyes. "Edward... back on Lexi, after my dream... You spoke as if... you heard my thought." She looked up at him. "I want to know if you did."

 

Edward laughed, leaning on the nearest tree. "Really?" he spoke now with a smile. "That is quite the odd coincidence, isn't it?"

 

Van Helsing laughed as well. "That's not the only thing that works, you know," he shot back, slamming the hammer back into his gun and smiling to himself.

 

Hannah opened her mouth to say something, but decided against it. "Forget it. Let's go back." She started walking, not waiting for Edward. He laughed at me! She thought heatedly. I shouldn't have said anything.

 

Edward growled under his breath, feeling the almost full moon come out from behind the clouds. He ran after Hannah and caught her by the shoulder, turning her roughly around to face him.

"What is wrong with you?" he asked. "Tell me the truth! What was in this dream?"

 

"Of course. If only your ears worked, you'd be dead. You're not dead, so there you go." Jinx laughed, queitly. "Process of elimination at work."

 

Hannah looked at Edward, both shocked and angry. "I'm not telling you anything that way. I deserve some truth from you before I tell you anything else." She pulled away from him. "I want to understand you... trust you... but you're making it hard."

 

Beatrice bit her tongue, holding back laughter. These two get along like this!?

 

Wow, she didn't get that one, he thought, still grinning. "You're still innocent. I like that," Van Helsing said aloud, putting his gun back in its holster.

 

"What haven't I told you the truth about?" Edward asked, not letting her move. "Go ahead and ask and I'll answer."

 

Jinx choaked on her laugh. "Yeah, right." she chuckled. "I'm just not a perve when I speak." she grinned at him.

 

"I don't want to talk about this right now." Hannah said. "Edward, let me go. Please."

 

"No," Edward said, holding back a growl. "We need to talk now... please."

 

Van Helsing mocked a gasp. "I never said you were," he replied.

 

"Mh huh, I know. I'm just making sure you see the difference of being a perve, and not being innocent. AKA, I got you're joke Van Helsing." Jinx shook her head, smiling.

 

"Let me go...." Hannah almost whimpered. "I don't want to talk right now... not about that...."

 

"Good," said Van Helsing. "Just in case you have anyone you'd like to let know... hey, where are those two? They should be back."

 

"Fine," Edward muttered, letting her go abruptly. "See you back at the camp."

He walked off in the direction of the fire's glow, not turning back.

 

Jinx listened carefully and picked up there conversation. "Their having a couples quarrel. Or were, Edward's coming back." she shrugged, sadly. "don't worry, Hannah can take care of herself in the dark and probably Edward too."

 

Hannah leaned back against a tree, crying quietly. What was that about...?
