Van Helsing

"I want to know more about werewolves." Hannah said quietly. About Edward, really, but I don't want to say that.

 

Beatrice kissed Sorin's nose and then led Lexi and him to a good patch of grass. "You two deserve a nice rest." She went back to Edward.

 

Van Helsing raised an eyebrow. "Hmm," was all he said as he led Hannah over to a corner in the clearing away from everyone else. "What exactly is it?" he asked.

 

Edward crept over behind another tree close by to listen.

 

"I want to know what kind of things they can do." Hannah said. "And maybe why Dracula likes them so much." She paused. "And... dreams too. Can they tell the truth?"

 

Beatrice started setting up a fire.

"Well..." Van Helsing began. "Werewolves have hard times on their first full moons... they are hard to control and to deal with, but Edward is doing fairly well. I'm surprised... but anyway, there are potions they can take that can prevent them from changing each full moon and stuff like that. As far as Dracula is concerned, he basically uses werewolves as asassins for him; they do his dirty work. As far as 'dreams' are concerned..." he faded off, giving her a funny look. "They dream the same as everyone else does as far as I know. And, yes, if they want to, they can tell the truth."

 

"But can dreams be like visions?" Hannah pressed. "Let's say I had a dream about someone, and they did something bad. Hypothetically of course. Could that dream come true...?"

 

Van Helsing laughed lightly. "I'm sure it could be. But if this is all hypothetical, why are you even asking?"

 

"Just curious." Hannah said. "I'm gonna... go for a walk. I'll be back soon." She walked off, giving thought to what Van Helsing had told her. Maybe I should just forget about it. I trust Edward too much to believe he'd do that anyway.

 

"Don't be gone too long!" Van Helsing called after her. "It's getting dark and we'd like to together so Beatrice doesn't freak out." He laughed. "Seriously."

BIC: Jinx helped Beatrice set up the fire. She noticed Edward listening to Van Helsing and Hannah but turned to Baeatrice. "So, we haven't really 'met', huh?" she smiled at her.

 

Edward wasn't really listening to the grils as he took blankets out of Lexi's saddlebags. They better be back soon. It's getting really dark now...

 

I like it dark. Hannah thought. What Van Helsing said didn't answer how Edward knew what I had thought. It's like I had spoken out loud to him.

 

Beatrice shook her head, focusing on the fire.

 

Jinx sighed and stayed silent until the fire was doing well. "So, um, I guess we start from the beginning. I'm Jinx." she held out her hand to shake Beatrice's, hoping she wouldn't mind how cold it was. "Nice to meet you."

 

Van Helsing shrugged and let Hannah leave, assuming she could take care of herself. Time to let everyone get some rest... I don't know how the folks in Rome are going to take to my new friends... this isn't going to be fun, I'm sure...

He walked back over to the others building the campfire and sat down next to Lexi.

 

"Where's Hannah?" Edward asked immediately, looking at Van Helsing.

 

I don't even know if I want to talk to Edward about this. Hannah leaned against a tree. Maybe it was just a coincidence. Maybe Edward just assumed that I'd had a bad dream and just happened to say something that had to do with my exact thought. She sighed.
