Hannah gave a wry smile. "Yeah, I know about the dark." She watched Sorin's head bob as he walked. "Bad joke...."

Jinx rolled her eyes at Van Helsing, "Whatever you guys say." she rubbed the back of her neck, walking beside the horses. She gradually slowed down to let herself walk some what away from them. I can't wait to get to Rome. At least while their in church I can get away for a bit and eat something. I hope they have some wild animals around there... she sighed. Although, I do wish I could go into church with them too... but that's impossible, of course...

BIC: "What are you going to do, Beatrice?" Van Helsing asked the girl. She gave him a confused look, and he added, "once we get to Rome?"

 

Edward laughed lightly. "You understand what I mean, though, right?" he asked.

 

Hannah nodded. "It's a long ride... I could tell you now... if you want." She said, though she hoped Van Helsing wouldn't over hear.

Beatrice paused; she hadn't given a thought about what she was going to do, she was too busy thinking about what was done. "Um, I don't really know."

 

"You can say whatever you like," Edward replied, trying to smile even though he wanted to know everything about her for no particular reason. "And like I said before, I'm not forcing you any time to speak about what you don't want to."

 

OOC: "EDWARD,YOU FRIKKIN FRIKKIN, :censor2: PANSY!!!!" LOL jk...

BIC: "Well, you have plenty of time to think about it..." Van Helsing replied, and then thought of something: "Are you religious, Beatrice?"

"I want to tell you." Hannah assured Edward; and partially herself too. "It started with a letter. I was warry to open it at first because I didn't recognize the hand writing. Of course, now I wish I never had. Anyway, I did open and read it. About half way through, I looked to the bottom to see who had written it; there was no name, it just said 'a good friend'. Whoever had written it knew a lot about me, everything in fact. They knew where I lived, what time I went out and for what reasons... it was scary. Despite my fears, I wrote back, without telling my parents." Her voice faltered at the last word. Shaking it off, she continued. "We lettered back and forth for a while and eventually, my fears ebbed away. It seemed like I knew this person inside and out, even though I'd never met them and didn't know their name. The letter that made me the most unsure of all this, was the one that asked for a meeting. I got it right after I had taken Frodo, my Irish shepard, for a walk. I was really nervous, but after all that we'd written back and forth, I felt like I did want to meet this person. I was so naive that I didn't think anything could go wrong. When the time came, I told my parents that I was going to take Frodo on a longer walk than usual. It was a bit more securing knowing that I had Frodo with me....." Her voice starting shaking at the memories and she tried steadying it before continuing. "When Frodo and I arrived at the place mentioned in the letter, it was getting dark. There was only one other person there, so I assumed that it was whoever wrote with me. Frodo starting barking like crazy, so I tied him to a tree so he wouldn't bite the person." She ran her hands through Sorin's mane to distract herself. "John... was the one I'd be writing with for so long. We talked for about an hour until Frodo finally settled down. And after that... well, it happened." Hannah paused for a while. "I don't remember much after that... and I haven't seen Frodo since."

BIC: Edward was silent for a little while, staring at Van Helsing's horse in front of him and watching Jinx and Exel run along side them. "I don't see how you could have been so naiive," he started now. "I mean, you seem like a smart enough person to not do something like that. But I don't mean to insult you, either... my point, is I'm just a little surprised. My own past in lots of fun as well... my family was attacked by one of Dracula's werewolves. They were taken into his castle and have been working for them since. I escaped. I was only five or so... I can't remember that well. Anyway, you know the reason why Van Helsing was sent to your village in the first place, right? To kill a family of werewolves that had been hunting down innocents in Dracula's name. He killed them all... they were my... well, I didn't know till now and I still will travel with Van Helsing. He's a good man, I think, even though I haven't known him long at all and all the evil things spoken toward him. His life must be awful. Anyway, I just hid out near Rome, finding others that were like me, but not the same, you know? They all were angry because of what they'd become, and they killed innocent people through their anger. I never understood that, and that's why he let me live. There was a point where he almost shot me right through without even thinking about it... and I saw it in his eyes. The man is dangerous, no doubt, but he has a job, and he isn't a bad person. We will find Dracula, and we will find a way to have you live, Hannah... I promise. There must be some way, and maybe we can have Van Helsing ask these people in his church. Of course, we'd ask hypothetically; I think it will work. I don't trust this Exel, either, whoever he is. Van Helsing is right not to want him to come. And my family... well, he... they're all gone now, and maybe that's best."

 

"I am what I am now because of that." Hannah said quietly. "I never thought anything bad would happen in our quiet little town...." She watched the ground pass beneath them. "I'm sorry about your family. I don't really know what happened to my parents or Frodo.... I don't think I ever will." She pushed the thoughts away. "I'm sure if Van Helsing asked those people, they'd only say that we all deserve to die.... It doesn't matter though, not really. If I have to die to make sure John is gone... then fine... I accept that." The sun started to rise and Hannah turned her head away. "No one'll miss me anyway, and I'm sure Van Helsing will be happy to have one less vampire to worry about."

BIC: Edward wrapped his arms lightly around Hannah in front of him, his cheek resting against the back of her head. "Don't talk like that," he whispered. "You think I wouldn't miss you? We'll figure it out, I told you already, okay?"

 

Beatrice nodded. "Is that good or bad...?"

 

Hannah's cheeks flushed. "I-it's hard not to. I don't really know what else to think. But things are more bearable with...." She trailed off. "Nevermind."

 

"I don't think there's anything wrong with any religion... I was just wondering."

 

"What?" Edward asked.

 

"What about you?" Beatrice asked.

 

"With you." Hannah said quietly.

 

"Yes," said Van Helsing. "I am. So now you can tell me about you."

 

Edward blushed slightly, glad Hannah couldn't see him. "I see..." he began slowly. "Well, then, maybe I should stick around, huh?" he finished with a smile.
