Van Helsing

OOC: MajorSergant, we need more werewolves, if you wouldn't mind changing Megan to a werewolf. Ky is fine. Just remember, this is 1887, so if you want to make the changes to accomidate the time period, feel free.

BIC: Hannah lowered her head. "I've heard stories. You're reputation is well known to my kind." She faltered, realizing what she'd said. "That is, the people of this town. We are welcoming to vampires or werewolves, but your meathods are... unique."

Jinx grew anxious at their words. I do have to leave. Shoot. she looked away from Van Helsing and Hannah to the path leading away from the town. Right, do I need anything from the inn?... no, I they can have whatever is left in my room. she sighed, sad to leave the town so soon after arriving, and began to move through the crowd again towards the path.

 

I quit.........

 

"You shouldn't judge me, miss," Van Helsing replied, seeing through the gril's lack of wit very easily. "You really don't seem native to these parts..."

He paused, waiting for the girl's reaction. Seeing her open her mouth to protest, he cut in again: "But when you speak of methods, now... what on earth have I done wrong? Forgive me, but if there is another way of killing a werewolf I would love to hear it now."

He made a quick glance up at the inn's window once more, but saw nothing except a blank sheet of tattered, black velvet curtains. Should be on her way down... he thought, his grin still in place.

BIC: "Native?" Hannah looked back up at Van Helsing. "I assure you sir, I've been here for seven years now." She crossed her arms over her chest. I shouldn't have underestimated him. This is going to be hard to cover up.

Jinx stopped outside of the crowd and looked back for a second. She noticed Van Helsing watching the window she had looked through after he killed the werewolf. He's not...? Really, come on! she rolled her eyes, surpressing a laugh. The people around her gave her cold glares and she sobered quickly, mouthing 'sorry' to them.

"I see," Van Helsing said now, and before he could finish the rest of the reply, he heard a laugh. The sound was so foreign to his ears, so unusual to hear that it attracted all his immediate attention.

Scanning the dismal, white throng of people, he caught the eye of the laugher. Ah, he thought. The window gal... she's got quite the face now I've seen it in the light.

"I've been known to make a girl smile or two," Van Helsing said, tilting his leather hat up enough to wink at the young girl, "but what's so funny?"

He could tell that the villager woman-- who claims to be a resident here for seven years... I don't buy it was still looking for his attention, but instead he waited for the young girl's reply.

 

OOC: are you sure? you can still stay if you want ^^

BIC: Hannah's gaze drifted over to Jinx. She'll bring nothing but trouble. What does she find so funny? Hannah thought the same as Van Helsing. She risked a glance at the sky to see if the sun would be coming out from behind the clouds any time soon.

Jinx's face flushed as she realized he was talking and looking straight at her. Darn it...The people around her shoved her foward. "Hey, watch it!" she growled at a woman who pushed hard. Turning her gaze back to Van Helsing, she met his eyes squarely. "Oh just you, sir. You seem to have a wandering attention, if you catch my meaning." she flashed a smile for a moment.

 

Wow,Van Helsing thought, looking from the young girl who had just spoken to the one impatiently waiting for his attention again. I never knew there were such lovely women in this God forsaken peice of s.hit town.

"Well, miss, if you find me so interesting, you must be interested in my line of work," he said aloud, getting rid of his smile as he was becoming aware of all the vindictive eyes of the villagers on him. "I'd say that's enough to earn you a drink."

He looked at the "seven-year-liar" (as he now named her in his mind) in front of his horse and said: "I assumed from all the tumultuous thank you's that I should leave now, but if you put up my horse and I stay for a bit."

He saw the look of confusion on her face, and added, "Since I know that's what you really want."

 

Hannah was jerked back to the moment. "There's room at the stable for your horse, sir." She said to Van Helsing. As dangerous as it is to have him around, maybe I can learn something from him. She found herself looking directly into Van Helsing's eyes and broke the contact. "Are you always this popular?" She asked quietly.

 

Jinx blinked in surprise, Oh hells, did I really just get myself a drink with someone who kills my species for a living? "Laughing at you're short attention span has gotten me a drink?" she asked, more cheerfully then she felt. "Interesting, much more than you or your line of work anyway." she flashed her smile again, hoping he had a sence of humor, and waited.

 

"Well, now, that's decent enough," Van Helsing said to the "seven-year-liar", and gallantly swung off his tall horse, extremely close to the woman in front of her. He held her gaze, which was hard to do, since both had their eyes shadowed in a hat or hood. "Always this popular, unfortunately," he added in a low voice, no smile in tact this time. His eyes had drited unavoidably to the bloody body of the man, who, at the time, had been a snarling, red-eyed, rabid beast charging at his throat. All the villagers seemed to notice his gaze, and gave him the same look he always received: "Murderer... monster... devil... killer... get out."

"Mr. Van Helsing?"

The girl in front of him broke his recollection. "Yes," he replied. "Feed the horse; she's hungry, and, if there's no trouble, I leave by morning."

He turned from her gaze and handed his tall horse's reigns to a small stable boy next to him. Van Helsing turned to a the young, "inn-window-girl" (as he named her, creatively) who stood behind him. She alsmost made him want to smile again... almost...

"A drink..." he continued, trying to shake the image of the werewolf, turning into a skinny, twenty year old or so man in front of him after the third silver bullet had entered his heart from his mind. "How about at that Inn you seemed to own a window at?"

 

Hannah took the horses reigns. "By the way, my name's Elizabeth." She muttered, leading the horse to the stables. She knew telling Van Helsing her real name might bring unwanted realism. If he was a good vampire hunter, her name just might be on his list. She looked for an empty stall in the stables as she stroked the horse. "You must have it rough..." She said to the horse. "I'll get someone trustworthy to look after you."

 

"Rent." Jinx corrected him. "and not for much longer, I might add. Just as you came into town, I was about to leave, as a matter of fact." she said, offhandedly, leading the way into the inn. She sat down at a table in the middle of the room, leaving the chair facing the door open to him.

 

Van Helsing watched Elizabeth go as he followed "rent-a-window" girl to the inn's bottom floor bar. I have an uneasy feeling about these two, he thought as he sat opposite "window-woman." She seems to be falling for the charm, so to speak. Now I only have to get her comfortable enough to tell me about the rest of the werewolf family that is around here... and figure out whatever she's hiding...

"So you don't know Elizabeth that well if you're just blowing through town, I assume?" he asked now, asking the closest (and seemingly only) barmaid for a glass of rum. "And your name would be nice, as well," he added a moment later.
