"True..." Beatrice considered this. "Then why do we kill werewolves?"

 

"I don't think so," he said, keeping his eyes on the road in front of them. "Maybe later. Tell me more about Edward."

 

Hannah's cheeks grew a soft pink. "What about him?"

 

"That is a good question," Edward said, smiling slightly. "It's the reason why I have never killed anything in my life."

 

"You've never killed anything?" Beatrice was interested.

 

"Well," Van Helsing began. "I found him, brought him here with me, and yet you sem to be the one who has talked most with him. I'm merely curious about what you've learned about my new companion."

 

"No," he said calmly. "After my family was killed I told myself that I would never stoop to that level of a person. There are other ways to deal withi things besides death and anger."

 

Hannah was glad that she was riding in back. "He's a nice guy and easy to talk with; that's all."

 

"That's an interesting way to think of things." Beatrice commented.

 

"I try my best," Edward. I hope Van Helsing isn't giving Hannah a hard time...

 

"Alright, you don't want to talk about it," Van Hesling sighed. "Well, you know he's a werewolf, so there you go. No secrets between you two, huh?"

 

Beatrice half-smiled. "I'm not sure if my best will be good enough for this."

 

"There's no secrets between any of us anymore." Hannah mumbled. "I just... He was the first one I really talked to... I feel like I can open up to him."

 

"Good," Van Helsing said, almost sounding incere. "Just wait till the full moon, lovie: see how well opening up works then."

 

'Hey, Van Helsing let you come for a reason... we'll just have to see what it is."

 

Hannah had no retort. She sighed grumpily and stared at the ground.

 

"I think it was out of pity." Beatrice said. "What do you think of him?"

OCC: Jinx watched the group from a tree. Darn stupid stupid stupid idiotic HELLS! she screamed in her mind. She couldn't move without being heard or smelled or seen by at least one of the non-humans. If I could just think straight... she closed her eyes and pinched the bridge of her nose.Okay, I can't move without being heard... but maybe... maybe they don't have to know who I am, yeah! I fooled them before into thinking I was human, maybe a little glamor will save me again. But what to make myself look like?... she pondered for a little, half listening to the voices below her.

Edward turned his head to look at Beatrice for moment. "What do I think of Van Helsing?" he repeated quietly. "Well, I think he's a murderer and a holy man... his reputation precedes him wherever he goes, and... I owe him my life." He smiled grimly at her shocked expression. "He didn't kill me in cold blood because I've done nothing wrong. I'm grateful for the chance he's given me to find Dracula... just wait till I get a hold of that monster... for what he's done to me, my family, and Hannah..."
