Van Helsing

Will stretched his neck slightly away from the gun but didn't look that worried. "Maybe. But that's not what's going to happen. You are going to step out of my way and let me take her away from you because we both know that's better for her. Or if you don't know, let me make it perfectly clear. I am her maker, I can take care of her, and I know all there is to know about her. You are the hunter to her prey, can't take care of her, and don't know more than what she tells you about her. So, let's be intellegent shall we?" he snapped his hands up and caught the gun out of Van Helsing's hand before he could react.

Jinx nodded. "I know." she said, gently. "I think there is something living over there, go ahead and get it. You're body wants a run anyway."

 

Van Helsing raised and eyebrow, his knuckles white. "I'm sorry," he began slowly, trying not to scoff. "It's just a little hard to understand so much b.ullshit coming out of one person's mouth at the same time. You're telling me what to do? If you'd leave her poor mind alone for one second, I've no doubt about what life she would choose."

 

Will smiled, amused, "I might mess a little with her feelings, but all I do is make her happy. And you wouldn't believe how soon it is until I don't have to do anything." he looked the gun over in his hands.

 

Hannah pursed her lips. "It's not like that. Why do you think it's forbiddin for a vampire to bite a werewolf? The blood of a werewolf won't just pass through us; it... combines with ours.... Something happens, I don't really understand it since John didn't explain it to me fully, but I know I can't change what I did. I think I'll be doing some library research of my own."

John looked at Jake. "Looks like you've scared him enough, Lestat. Let's go."

 

Jake glared at the second vampire. "Scared?" He whpped out a gun from its holster on his belt and fired at Lestat.

 

Van Helsing swallowed a snarl, staring intently at Will. "You're trying to convince yourself," he smiled. "It's not even certain in your mind, and you know it. It's quite pathetic, actually..."

 

"We don't have time for that," Edward spoke quickly. "I think it'll help. Will you at least try?"

 

Lestat smiled, dodging the bullet by stepping into the nearest shadow. "You've done nothing, my friend," he smiled at John. "And I've done barely anything." He sighed, and looked at the hunter though he could not see him. "Let me ask you, sir: why bother that poor girl and her friend earlier? Hardly troubling you, were they, and you just..." He faded off, sighing, brushing past the man, laughing in his ear. "Stupid..." he murmured under his breath.

 

Will frowned, empting the bullets into his hand and then reloading them. "That's an interesting idea. Wrong, off, and stupid, but interesting." he looked up at Van Helsing. "You see I don't need to confince myself because I know she'll fall right back in love like the first time because I've been around long enough to know how easy it is to obey your emotions. Look at yourself, if you don't believe me. Tell me that a few weeks ago you would even care if a little vampire girl who had a little bit of a sad past went back with her maker. You know you wouldn't have. But now your emotions are telling you to care, and so you do. Going agaist everything you know.... it's quite pathetic, actully."

 

"Yes, I'll try." Hannah assured Edward. "But once we get to a town with a library, I want to get some information; anything at all. I don't want to have to ask John."

"I'm not one for provoking werewolves." John muttered. "Besides, he'll die soon enough."

 

Van Helsing swallowed a small laugh. "You really don't know a thing about me, do you? Look, Jinx and Beatrice will be back soon. If you let her mind alone for a second instead of flooding it with stupid ideas, she'd have plenty to say to you from her heart. But you won't do that, will you?" He paused, smiling now. "And we both know why: you can't handle hearing her true feelings, her real self, her thoughts from her heart. I would be very impressed if you let her, though."

 

Lestat frowned. "You're no fun," he muttered, but stepped away from the hunter. "I would like him to answer my question, though."

 

Will smiled. "Would you step out of the way if I let her speak her mind to me?" he asked, alreadly guessing the answer.

 

Beatrice gave Jinx a breif nod and then ran into the forest, easily tracking the sweet smell of blood that was nearby. She barely noticed when she gave herself into her senses. Only a second later, she stopped dead in her tracks, a new scent coming into the air. She covered her nose against the burn the scent brought. She shook her head, trying to get rid of the acrid scent. Not able to ignore the smell, she bolted in the opposite direction after a different more appealing smell.

"But I'll be getting my information from books." Hannah added.

John turned his head towards the silent sound of rushed footsteps. Seems the ladies are out for a quick hunt. Beatrice probably hasn't gotten used to the smell of werewolves yet.

 

"They're leeches." Jake spat. "Just like you two. Killers."

 

"If you left her thoughts alone, of course," Van Helsing snapped.

 

Edward nodded reluctantly. "Sorry..." he began, turning his head to the side slightly. "But do you hear voices?"

 

"You're saying you never killed in your life as a werewolf?" Lestat scoffed. "I will admit to being a killer, sir, with no doubt, repentance, regret, or guilt. God kills indescriminantly, and so do I, my friend. No creatures under His reign here are as feared as God himself. It must be hard for you, being underneath such as us, though... they are some of your kind worth of recognition. You, though... no. Just another mindless hunter; a killer as well."

 

"Hm..." Will laughed, "Alright. So I'll let her thoughts alone and let her speak her mind, you step out of my way. Deal?"

Jinx felt her stomach react as the sent of some large animal hit her but then the harsh, acid smell covered it and she forgot about eating. She winced, recalling the scent as the same one from the hunter werewolf. "Damn, the worlds a big place, why are they all attacking us?" she ranted to herself, starting off after Beatrice.

 

"Van Helsing and Will." Hannah replied after a moment. "Should we help?"

Beatrice found the large buck with ease. Caution didn't even cross her mind as she lunged at the buck and wrestled it to the ground. Her fangs sunk deep into its neck, ripping at the muscle in the way. The smell and taste overwhelmed her, blocking out all other noises and sights.

John raised an eyebrow, interested in Jake's answer.
