Van Helsing

"Just a headache." Hannah lied. "Aleera threw me into that tree pretty hard."

 

"What can I do?" Edward asked, concerned. "Do you need something?"

 

Hannah shook her head. "I'll be fine."

 

"Hey!" Van Helsing cried from their left. "I found a horse!"

 

"Let's go," Edward said, following Hannah over to where Van Helsing had yelled from.

 

Beatrice ran over to Van Helsing and Sorin. "Thank you so much!"

 

Hannah smiled. "Looks like we can get on our way now."

 

"Which direction?" Van Helsing asked, almost to himself. "We don't have a clue where to go... unless you tell us where you saw Dracula last."

 

Hannah glared at Van Helsing. "Reghin, Transylvania. It's not to far from here."

 

"We have four people and two horses..." Edward said, stepping toward Van Helsing's horse now.

"I know," Van Helsing said, mounting Lexi and holding a hand out to Hannah. "I'm not letting you two ride my horse alone... in fact, I'm not leaving you two alone period."

Edward glared for a moment, and then looked at Hannah. "Go on," he said, stepping over to Beatrice and Sorin.

 

"We could just go back to the inn and get another horse." Hannah suggested, not really wanting to ride on a horse with a vampire hunter.

 

Beatrice looked down at Edward to see what he made of this suggestion. "Sorin is strong enough to carry two people."

 

"I don't think so," Van Helsing said, his hand still extended. "We don't have enough time. Let's go!"

 

Hannah took Van Helsing's hand and let him hoist her onto Lexi, though she kept quiet.

 

"Good," Edward said, jumping onto the horse's back. "Sit in front of me, if you don't mind; you're much smaller."

 

"We'll have plenty to talk about now on the ride, won't we?" Van Helsing asked her quietly, turning Lexi to face Sorin. "Ready?"

 

Beatrice positioned herself infront of Edward.

 

"So," Van Helsing asked as they were riding. "Why didn't you tell me when I first met you that you were a vampire... I could tell Edward knew something I didn't, but then he likes you, so that's different. Didn't think you could trust me, right?"

 

Hannah sighed. "I knew you'd ask that. I don't tell anyone. Who would?" She felt her cheeks grow hot when Van Helsing mentioned Edward. "And what right-minded vampire would tell you of all people? No offense."

 

"Fair enough..." he replied with a small huff of a laugh. "Do you have any idea where Jiinx may be? I'd like to find her; I still think she killed that Henry fellow."
