Van Helsing

Van Helsing tensed his hands into fists, frowning further. "I can't leave without her," he said through clenched teeth.

 

"I don't know." Jinx answered Will again, she was letting herself relax into his arms. "I don't know. Something is going to happen... I don't remember what."

Will nodded, continuing to rub her back and make her relax more. He looked up at Van Helsing. "Why not? You have your werewolf, two vampires, your little human friend. Just leave already. Times wasting, hunter."

Jinx closed her eyes. She wanted to remember why she was waiting for something bad to happen, but the calm daze over her stopped her from being able to.

 

"That's not the point," Van Helsing hissed. "I need her. If you weren't such an emotional freak, she wouldn't be anywhere near you right now. This is your last warning."

 

"Fool." Will shrugged and tilted Jinx's chin up so she was looking at him. "Darling, it's okay. don't worry about it. I'll make sure nothing bad happens to you."

Jinx just nodded slightly.

"So, will you come with me home?" Will asked, smiling at her.Things weren't going exactly as he's planned, but it was more interesting that way. And he still had her where he needed her anyway.

"I dont' know... we still need to fight Dracula." Jinx replied, almost sadly."Can't you wait just a little bit?"

 

Van Helsing sighed. "I'll go, then," he muttered, catching Jinx's eye. "Stay with him. That's fine."

He gave Will a small bow, and then turned. When he saw the man's eyes go down out of the corner of his gaze, and then turned swiftly, driving his fist straight into the side of Will's jaw. It was like punching concrete, though he at least made the man loosen his grip on Jinx. He snatched her arm and pulled her close to him, grabbing the hair at the back of her head to force her to look at him.

"Wake up, Jinx," he muttered quickly. "Snap out of it!"

But her eyes remained glazed over, her arms limp at her side. Hoping he was doing the right thing, he pulled her face close to his, kissing her roughly, his other arm tight around her waist. He broke away from her a moment later, and grinned when he saw her lips forming a tiny smile.

"Better now?" he laughed softly. "I thought so."

 

"I'll kill you for that." Jinx said, smiling at him. Then she pulled out of his arms and turned around to Will. Keeping the memory of the kiss in her mind she forced herself to ignore all the emotions that he was throwing at her. She pulled her arm back and copied Van Helsing's punch, but her's knocked Will to the ground. She stood over him, pulling her dagger out.

Will looked up at her, his eyes blazing. "What, are you going to try and kill me?" he asked, his voice contradicinting his expression by being soothing.

Jinx met his gaze full on and winced, she could feel the emotions seeping into her again. "I want to kill you." she said, earnestly. "But... I can't..." she swore harshly under her breath. "Get the hell out of here! If you follow us, if you ask me to join you again, if you play your stupid game again... I'll, I'll..."

"You'll lose, my dear." Will stood up and was already out in the forest before she reacted.

"No." Jinx grit her teeth together and then turned on Van Helsing. "What the hell was that?! I said to hit me or shoot me! What if I'd bitten you!!??"

 

Van Helsing chuckled. "I figured it was worth the risk," he replied smoothly. "And I did 'hit' you , dear. Just not as you expected."

 

Jinx glared at him, "I can't believe you. Honestly, kissing a vampire! What is your problem? Are you insane?!" she dropped her face into her hands. "Please don't ever risk yourself like that for me." she muttered, angrily, through her hands.

 

"You liked it," Van Helsing smiled. "And so did I, so stop being so difficult. If I ever need to do that again, I don't think you could stop me."

 

Jinx took her hands from her face and crossed her arms. "I know I could stop you, Van Helsing. But maybe you'll just choose better circumstances next time so I won't want to." she looked at him in silence for a moment. "thank you, for saving me and for... well thank you..." she smiled very slightly. "We'd better get the carriges ready, so the others don't worry."

 

"So... now would not be a good time to...?" Van Helsing began, and then cut himself off when he saw the look on her face. "I'm kidding," he smiled now. "I... you're welcome. Let's go find the others."

 

Hannah sighed, listening to the events outside. Van Helsing is one of the stupidest humans I've ever met. I'm surprised Jinx didn't punch him for that.

"I don't need to be next to her to talk with her." John reminded Lestat.

 

"What?" Edward asked, looking at Hannah. "What happened with them?"

 

"True," Lestat remembered. "Well, Will isn't as smart as we thought, is he?"

 

"He's got something planned." John stated. "We just don't know what it is."

Hannah smiled. "You really don't want to know."

 

"Hmm," Lestat muttered. "I doubt it. I'm not impressed with him so far. His tricks don't affect me, you... well, I don't know about you, and, so far, they haven't hurt the hunter. What good is he?"

 

"Huh," Edward sighed. "Well, then, thank you," he continued when she finished his bandages. "That's more than enough. It won't help, thanks to Lestat's venom, but at least the blood won't bother you too much now."

 

"I already told you that I won't be biting anymore werewolves." Hannah folded her arms. "It's not a pleasent experience. The only thing we have to worry about is me crossing paths with a human. Besides Van Helsing and Carl that is; I'm too used to their scents."

Beatrice led Sorin out of the stables. SHE'S used to their scents. She thought miserably.

"None." John seethed. "He's no good at all. I'd love to just kill him, but there are certain restrictions that won't allow me to do that."

 

"Oh really?" Lestat exclaimed dramatically, trying to look very interested. "What... restrictions would those be? More rules for your generation of immortals?"

 

"I know," Edward replied. "We are going after a vampire, though, and I doubt he will have any live humans around; so you and Beatrice shouldn't have too much trouble... I hope."
