"no, I don't. I think she's proabably with Sorin though." Carl replied.

 

"Good," Van Helsing sighed. "At least we'll all meet in the right place, I hope."

 

"Yeah," Edward groaned. "I'm fine. Sorry, Beatrice," he muttered. "I can't really make it stop."

 

Lestat cocked his head to the side, confused. "In my whole lifetime so far, you mean?" he asked. "Oh, yes. I've done much more than you'll ever know or understand, my friend."

 

"yeah, that would be much more convinent. And everyone being in one place has the plus of no one being attacked by any of our 'friends'." Carl said, as they apportched the stables. "Oh good. Everyone is here."

 

"What the hell happened to you?" Van Helsing exclaimed when he saw Edward.

 

"And yet you're fifty years younger than me." John muttered.

Hannah shot Van Helsing a dirty look and then turned her attention back to Edward. "We need to get you bandaged."

Beatrice looked up, searching for the new, yet familiar, smell that entered the stables. She locked eyes with Carl for a brief moment and then lowered her head and turned back to Sorin to distract herself with his mane.

 

"I have some bandages." Carl spoke up. "Hold on one second." he went to the carrige and opened up the bag he'd brought. Soon he pulled out some bandages and handed them to Hannah.

 

Edward wanted to protest, but he kept his mouth shut. "Thank you," he muttered to Carl. "It's Lestat, by the way," he added to Van Helsing.

 

"Of course," Van Helsing sighed. "Well, get yourself in better shape if you want to be of use to any of us. We should leave now while it's dark."

 

"Age, for people like us, doesn't matter very much," Lestat replied. "The experiences and what you do with your infinite amount of years is more important."

 

John just nodded in agreement.

Hannah didn't say anything else as she carefully started to bandage Edward's injuries.

Beatrice looked at Van Helsing. "I think we should pick up our pace, too."

 

Van Helsing nodded. "Of course," he replied. "Jinx said she was getting the carriages and the horses ready, so maybe you can give her a hand?"

 

Edward stood still, glaring at Van Helsing. Like he can understand a thing that I'm going through... or what I've got to do in the future...

 

"Looks like they're getting ready to leave again," Lestat commented. "So much for talking to her..."

 

Jinx walked over to the carriges and started setting them up.

"You didn't listen at all did you dear?" Will asked, leaning against the wall near her.

Jinx jumped at his voice and spun around to face him. "No. Go away!" she said, before he could start changing how she felt. .

"Why dear?" Will stepped nearer her, already making her feel safe with him around.

"Because of this!" Jinx answered, making herself think straight, but already her thoughts were blurring as she felt happier and saver.

"Because of what, sweet heart? I only want you to feel happy." Will slipped his arms around her gently. "And you didn't listen to me. You are getting attached to them. Espically to the hunter, and that's only going to end in pain, darling. I don't want you to be hurt."

"But you're wrong?" Jinx meant to tell him so, but it came out as a question. She couldn't see why she thought he was wrong, now that the trust was so heavy on her.

 

Van Helsing cocked his head in the direction of where the carriages were kept, behind the stables. "Do you hear that?" he whispered at Edward.

When Edward shook his head, Van Helsing frowned. "Stay here," he muttered, and began to make his way around the back of the stables, resisting the urge to pull out his guns.

 

"No I'm not, Jinx. and you know it... oh damn it." Will looked up, hearing Van Helsing walking towards them. "here comes that hunter now... what does he want."

"I... dont' remember." Jinx said, honestly, looking up at him, "I'm sorry."

"It's okay, dear. It's not your fault." Will soothed her, brushing her hair back gently. "I'll deal with him."

"don't hurt him." Jinx suddenly said, worriedly.

Will looked down into her eyes, alittle annoyed that she was worried at all about Van Helsing. By now she shouldn't even know how to be worried., "Dear, please, let me handle it." he looked up. "What do you want, hunter?" he demanded, as Van Helsing came into veiw.

 

"I'd like you to stop hindering our departure, sir," Van Helsing snapped, crossing his arms over his chest. "You don't know how much I'd like to just kill you instead of ask."

 

"so depart." Will retorted, pulling Jinx tighter to him. "I'm not stopping you from going anywhere. I'm allowedd to be with my love."

Jinx tensed up so much she wasn't moving, breathing, or even blinking. What's going on? she thought, confused.

Will looked at her, surprised as much as she was. "Jinx, what's wrong, darling?" he glanced at Van Helsing.

"I don't know..." Jinx answered, keeping still as stone as if she was waiting for something.

Will rubbed her back gently, now ignoring Van Helsing, "Are you sure?" he made her feel completely safe. It helped and she relaxed slightly, but still she was tensed.
