"Please do," Van Helsing agreed, sitting up slightly. "I'll do my best."

 

"I know, my dear," Edward sighed, putting his arm around her as best as he could. "I don't know what I can do to make you feel better. Is... is there anything you can think of, or do I have to be creative?"

 

"Smart," Lestat said, rolling his eyes. "Who would have thought?"

 

Jinx didn't look at him, already knowing he wouldn't like what she needed as a favor, but continued looking at the head board. "I need you to shoot me or hit me or something if he shows up, nothing fatal but something to wake me up." she said quickly.

 

"Nothing can make me forget what I did." Hannah mumbled. "It's my first clear memory... too clear... too vivid. I can't forget it, can't even try, because it's almost always in my nightmares...." She sighed and closed her eyes tightly.

John eyed Lestat. "If you care to strike up a conversation with one of them, be my guest."

 

Van Helsing frowned. "That will be hard... but I think I can manage."

 

"I know," Edward agreed. "But try to focus on doing something good; like helping me get rid of John and killing Dracula."

 

"thank you..." Jinx looked at him finally and smiled. "I really hate how he makes me feel so god damned happy to be with him, that will really help, thank you very much."

 

"I would love to, actually," Lestat smiled. "That was a thought of mine."

 

"I already told you that I don't think I'll be much of a help with John." Hannah tried to keep the sadness out of her voice. "Are you going to tell me what it is we have to do?"

Shock crossed John's face but he quickly composed himself. "Why?"

 

"All I can say is if you aren't there and can't help me, then I will basically be comitting suicide. But what is against my nature is completely okay for you to do if you trust me," Edward replied as best as he could.

 

"Just interested," Lestat shrugged. "Wonder what his motives are, if they are interesting at all. I know he cant hurt me... I'm intrigued, if nothing."

Watch it, my friend, Lestat added in his mind to Edward. Watch what you say or I will rip you apart.

 

"I trust you." Hannah said, the smallest smile crossing her lips. "Though I would feel a bit more confident if I knew more, but I'll go with you." She paused. "I shouldn't have been so rude to Bee.... Do you think she went far? I don't want her out there alone."

"That new hunter, Jake was the name I got from his thoughts," John started. "He shouldn't be too far off. He left his horse at the stables. His mind is gaurded."

 

"I never thought I'd meet a girl that was happy about me hitting her," Van Helsing muttered. "That's a new one."

 

"Thank you," Edward sighed, relieved, and kissed her cheek again. "Beatrice should be fine," he added to her last statement. "I think she can handle herself alone for a little... don't you?"

 

"I hope you don't hit enough girls for that comment to have any experince behind it." Jinx said, grinning at him.

 

"What's your point?" Lestat asked politely. "Are you suggesting ambushing him for touching your girl? It's not a bad idea," he added, smiling to himself as he thought about it.

 

"No," John replied. "I'd like to see what Edward will do when they meet up."

"I don't like the idea of her out there alone when that hunter is still...." Hannah faded off. "I should go find her."

 

"Um... girls that deserve it? I'm guilty there," Van Helsing replied nonchalantly.

 

"If you're well enough to get up, so am I," Edward insisted. "Look what happens every time I let you out of my sight!"
