Van Helsing

Beatrice stopped pacing when Edward said her name. She looked at Hannah and, once she was sure Hannah was asleep, sat on the floor and looked at Edward. "I think you should know something."

"She's an interesting newborn." John murmured. "I'm surprised she didn't kill that friar when she had the chance."

 

"Go ahead," Edward sighed politely, his fingers absentmindedly running through Hannah's hair. "I'll try my best to listen well."

 

"True," Lestat smiled, remembering. "She must have a lingering respect for mortal life..." He chuckled at Louis's phrase.

 

Van Helsing stirred in his sleep, trying to shake away the dream that had been bothering him as he tried to rest. He opened his eyes and tilted his hat back slightly so he could see around the room. He saw Jinx by the window and smiled.

"We ladies are fine, by the way," he yawned, answering the question she had asked hours ago.

 

Jinx jumped slightly at his voice, she'd finally relaxed every muscle and hadn't been paying attention. "What? oh, good to hear that Sleeping Beauty." she replied grinning at him, once she remembered what he was talking about.

 

"It's about Hannah's nightmares..." Beatrice started carefully. "They're about her parents. She told me not to tell anyone, but I don't think secrets will get us anywhere." She paused. "I don't know if I should tell you everything, but I don't think Hannah would mind if I told you some things." She paused again. "Well... Hannah says that she dreams of her parents and herself in their house at night... everything is going fine... but then Hannah says she leaves the house to go for a late walk with her dog..." Beatrice tried not to put in to many details in case Hannah got upset with her for telling Edward so much. "She says the dream changes to the morning and it's her parents funeral. A closed coffin funeral...."

"With any luck, that will soon be gone for her." John smirked. "Hunting deer...." He rolled his eyes.

 

Edward frowned, thinking about what she said. "I see," he murmured, shutting his eyes for a moment. "I can watch her dream, if you'd like... I can hear her thoughts when she's conscious, so that is also possible. If you're that worried about her, I mean," he added.

 

"I would hope so," Lestat agreed. "There used to be a time when vampires would be killed by their own kind if they fed on any human that was not an evil doer."

 

Van Helsing grinned. "You know, you should try sleeping sometimes," he replied smoothly. "I bet it gets boring just watching me forever. I wouldn't mind watching you for a change."

 

Jinx rolled her eyes. "I was trying to sleep, hence my closed eyes. Also meaning I wasn't watching you sleep... you're right, it is boring." she smiled at him. "After awhile anyway." she added, as an afterthought.

 

Van Helsing's smiled widened. "I see," he muttered. "Well, maybe I'm just crazily ignorant and need your forgiveness, but that looks uncomfortable up there. Carl will be going through his beauty routine for the next hour, so you can lay down if you'd like."

 

Jinx shrugged and leaned back on the window pane. "It's actully quite comfortable. Lying down, sitting, standing. They all feel the same to me as far as comfort goes. But..." she hopped off the sill and was on the other bed in a second. "I haven't actully layed down on a bed in along time, what do I know?" she fixed the sheets under her and then layed down.

 

"I know, my suggestions make me seem brilliant," Van Helsing chuckled to himself. "So... what brings you to my bedroom, my dear?"

 

"I just was dying to see you again!" Jinx said, in the most girly, pathetic voice she could do while putting the back of one hand to her forehead to add to the picture. Then she burst out laughing, keeping her volume down but still cracking up. "No, I was just bored in the hallway and it seemed safer in here than in the other room." she finally answered, grinning at the ceiling.

 

"Ah, I see," Van Helsing replied, nodding his head slowly. "There's still trouble in paradise over there, huh? I think the best idea is to let them be, I guess... at least, that's what I'm going to assume now. You seem to be much better at speaking to them than I am."

 

"I don't think she'd like that," Beatrice said cautiously. "She didn't want me to tell you about her nightmares in the first place. I am really worried, though. I don't think she should be keeping secrets like that." She paused. "I did leave out a bit-"

"That's enough Beatrice." Hannah said sharply, not opening her eyes. "If you're going to spill my secrets you should make sure I'm asleep."

Beatrice squeeked. "Oh, Hannah! I'm so-"

Hannah glared at Beatrice, cutting her off, her eyes a molten shade of gold. "You should go hunting before we start moving again."

"O-okay...," Beatrice stood and glanced worriedly at Edward before she left the room.

Hannah continued to glare at the wall once Beatrice was gone, too angry to speak to Edward.

 

"Yeah... I thought it was better to leave them be too..." Jinx agreed, her grin fading. "You know I'm really sorry that all this happened... I know you just want to go kill Dracula and all these things keep getting in the way. But it's great that you're sticking around with us, even though you don't have to." she said, still looking at the ceiling.

 

"It's all for you, dear," Van Helsing sighed, laughing lightly. "Otherwise I'd have left with my little friar a while ago."

 

Edward frowned. "Are you..." he began slowly, moving away from her slightly. "Are you angry with me or her right now?"

 

Jinx turned over on her side and looked at him for a few moments, trying to figure out what he'd meant. "um... thanks?" she finally said, awkwardly.
